More specifically. They use your current velocity to predict where to emerge at the start of their attack. As soon as you notice it, try to invert your velocity. If you keep moving in one direction it will eat you easily.

Do not forget about circuit bees pls, I know they’re not technically monsters but they should get their own bit as one of the most lethal creatures in the game. … There are also manticoils and roaming locusts but those could be disregarded as they are non-lethal.

I was playing yesterday with my cousin on an eclipse and I didn’t know anything prior to the giant worm so 2 seconds after jumping out the ship I heard an enormous growl and just sprinted back before a big ass worm popped out.

It's has the mentality of a 5 year old...when it sees something moving it decides to chew on it...that's why when it eats someone it becomes neutral (I'm saying this from experience) (had to watch my friends get eaten)...in conclusion he just curious.
'Pretty sure it's a dune reference' my guy, deadly worm in the sand is an age old idea. Its been around forever. Minecraft Ice and Fire mod had deathworms, years before Lethal Company was released, probably even before development started, which burrowed underground, and could find you if you moved around. Before the miwncraft mod, Ark had deathworms in Scorched Earth and Ragnarok, though im proetty sure those deathworms have normal entity detection, instead of being based on movement. Before those, Star wars had that monster i forgot the name of. It just hung around in the sand if i remember right, but was likely a worm. DnD has the purple worm. And there are probably even older medias with goant worms burrowing to murder, or just as old as anything ive listed.
The worms work based off circles, a big one detects and follows you and a smaller circle checks if you are in it every portion of a secound at a percent chance and stops if the chance hits and attacks at a random time, it has no brain and dosen't predict your movement and can notice you if you are still
Btw, the log says to backtrack, but usually that’s not what you should do. The best thing to do is run in a straight line, it works consistently and backtracking lowers your chances.
Just a fun little thing that happened to my squad: we spawned in and were landing, and we hadn't even touched the ground yet before an earth leviathan jumped up and killed all but one person of our crew (of six people). The one person that survived only did so because he jumped out of the ship immediately as we spawned.
I remember we had just landed. It was on experimentation, completely normal(no eclipse) me and my friend were going towards the main entrance, when suddenly the floor started moving, black particles appeared and we died.
When you said earth leviathan i got ptsd from subnautica 2 mainly the actual land leviathan im just like "up here there may be 1 monster the white bear thing but at least no leviathans...WHAT THE F IS THAT?!"

I recently played this game and i was walking back to the ship not to far, within eye sight. Next thing i know im dead. No rumbles no signs. The other thing i could think was the message i saw that said something smells bad or something like that. And i had so much as well
