    I wish Wera or Wiha or somebody would make a holder, probably unhinged, that held just the 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, and 6 mm keys. I'd be glad to buy a more complete set, but I want to take the smaller set along when traveling with my Bike Friday folding bicycle that requires the smaller set to fold down for travel in a suitcase, and then set up again. I have a couple of those smaller folding sets -- smaller than the ones you showed -- and I usually take one of those in my under-saddle tool bag. But those are kind of fiddly to use, as you pointed out, and when I set up and take down my bicycle frequently, I want to do it quickly. The slight extra weight of the separate keys is worth it.
    I bought a set of some other brand off of Amazon this summer, and left the 8 and 10 mm keys behind to save weight. It had a hinged holder somewhat like the Wiha one you showed. It worked OK, and fit in my under-saddle tool tool bag OK, but it was a bit bulkier than it needed to be. Unfortunately I lost it in a parking lot in France when I forgot to pack it away after setting up my bicycle. I bought a new set at the nearest hardware store, and left the 8 and 10 behind. The brand is FACOM, which I see is available on Amazon, too. I like that it holds the keys more securely, with no chance of them slipping out. (I don't want to carry the keys loose, because it will be too easy to lose one.) But it barely fits in my under-saddle tool bag.
    Now I'm on a quest to find a set with a holder that holds just the keys I need for bicycle travel.

    For future reference it would be nice if you could leave links to the products discussed in the video. Other than that thank you for the info! Awesome work man

      Would links to the manufacturer sites be helpful? I’ve avoided putting links to store sites to prevent the appearance of bias, as I don’t want people to think they are affliate links.

    The Wera set sounds like they are better when dealing with painted screws otherwise Wiha is the way to go.

      The extra clearance would certainly be helpful the screw was painted!

    Great video to say the least. So if you could choose only one color coded set would you choose the "sleeved" or "painted"??

    • @toolamanjaro929
      @toolamanjaro929  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ‘painted’ ones, the sleeves get slippery and are harder to grip.

      @@toolamanjaro929man I really wanted to like the bondhus being us made but I don’t feel their as good as the Wiha keys I wish I could convince myself otherwise tho anyone have any good anecdotes or evidence to sway one way or another?

      @@Jeff-rk8hqSame. My set gave out way sooner than I hoped they would. I got maybe about a year out of the smaller ones.

    Wera is undersized on purpose, because they are hex plus, they bite in a different point compared to normal hex keys. Formula 1 teams use Wera keys, that should tell you something about them.

      There are TH-cam reviews that confirm this showing how the Wera are the best at not causing wear or damage on the fastener.

      @@ek8652Idk, project farms testing showed them stripping the screw with considerably less torque than the wiha. I have a set of both on the way to replace my rounded bondhus. Curious to see which ones I like better.

      i use the wera daily in industrial automation. he said something about not taking fastners in and out. yeah well some of the ones I've come across are boogered to hell and back. wera is great for these.

      @@alanprather8399Can confirm. I change out date stamps in a die and those bolts see regular use and aren't always in the best of shape.

      @@scarling9367 I used a lot of cheapies and the ones that come with the old 80s craftsman set. I guy I work with has the wiha ones. the opening mechanism is cool, but for a boogered allen key, especially pan head or set screw these are great. for normal allen bolts you can get channel locks or vise grips on it of needed (replace the bolt after that obviously).
