Agree with you about cutting out the loo. Worth it when you have huge variability like on trains, but pretty much all airlines are the same these days.
@@MattsPlanet Precisely. For example, I've flown JAL F about a dozen times now, and never realised until yesterday what the folding flap at floor level is for: It's a fold-down foot platform to save your bare/socked feet from ever touching the floor. Having said that, I've never encountered anything other than a pristine loo on JAL F anyway. Furthermore, what I thought was a baby changing facility is in fact a padded seat, for you to sit on over the existing covered loo seat, while you do any necessary shoe or sock contortions. A personal loo story on JAL F... on the 777-300ER, if you use the bidet function, make sure you've familiarised your self with the stop button: the controls aren't well-lit, and situated at butt cheek level. I am 10 years a gold member of Aegean and they are always my #1 airline selection when flying back to my home place. (Athens) It's a pity that after the (you know what) they haven't reinstated the full hot meal they used to offer in economy class which was absolutely fantastic! But still, they offer a great product and can't wait to see what they will offer in a couple of years' time (maybe less) when the 4 A321 LRs will join the fleet and will have a lie flat business class config to serve routs such as UAE,India etc. Thanks for the video Matt! Next time, give a try to mastiha liquor that it has its origins to Chios island. It's a great digestive drink.
I think most of us Greeks are proud of our flag carrier airline, they seem to be great at what they do. Never flown in business class myself, but the couple of times I flew with Aegean to London and to Rome, the food onboard the airplane was great and the service excellent !
Thessaloniki native here that grew up in Chicago... I've flown a couple of million miles with United so whether i fly business or coach i always have access to the Aegean lounge, or any star alliance lounge. At any rate, the reason i wanted to comment was because the most freaking amazing koulouri I've had was at the Aegean lounge!
Good review Matt of Aegean and matches my excellent experiences with them both in flight and in their lounges. I too was a little taken back when I was struggling with the coffee machine in Aegean lounge at Athens when one of the 2 ladies managing the eating/drinking area came to help me and also advised that she was topping up the breakfast offering and to wait 5 minutes for their full offering. Definitely on my do fly list.
Thanks for reviewing and mentioning this lesser known (I think) airline that seems to consistently offer a superior flying experience. The first experience with them that I remember was flying from Paris to Athens; the plane was 20+ mins late departing CdG airport. I usually find delays irksome because there is nothing you can do about them -- but resorted to keep calm and alert my pickup on arrival of the probable late arrival. Following a nice (by air travel standards) meal and plenty of complementary drinks I was patiently reading a book whiling away the time when the captain gave us the "approaching Athens, etc" announcement and, checking the time I realised we were about 35mins in advance of the scheduled arrival. To make a long story short, we landed a few mins before schedule and I had time for an airport coffee waiting for my ride to town!
One thing that many people miss about these older style seats (on the CEO's) is that the middle seat turns into a table...but also the seat's (Window/Isle) become about 10cm wider as a result. See 6:37 and have a look at the two middle armrests.

Fair enough about the mastiha Chiou, they really should explain it a bit more. It's a liqueur flavored with mastiha, a natural resin from trees from the island of Chios. It's a digestif, one of the few popular in Greece, and quite nice if you're not already deathly bored of it. Tsipouro is for functioning alcoholics and tractor engines, not really worth talking about :D
The loo review is an interesting one. I find there’s usually very little worth mentioning, especially on narrow bodies where there’s so little variation, but can be useful on some long haul flights where there’s something worth noting. For example on recent Qatar flights I’ve felt it’s useful to make people aware of the amenities available in the toilets, and I liked the decor on KLM. I’m inclined to keep them in on most flight reviews though, mainly for the benefit of the casual viewer who might be researching a specific flight/airline that they’re booking and wants to know everything about the experience. Will be interested to see what others think in your comments though!
I agree with you. I'm typing this reply whilst sitting at the Al Mourjan Garden Lounge in Doha, whilst in transit from Tokyo to London. My outbound flight was on an A350, and the first return on an 777 300ER, and I found that the loo on the 777 to be a fair bit larger and more comfortable (if there is such a thing) than the A350. It would certainly help the casual traveller to know about the loo, especially if they might have a disability, infants that need changing changing or something similar.
Great content. I may have to fly to and from Athens next year. Aegean is top of my list now. Even without the upgrade tricks (novice here) it seems like a fabulous option.

Lots of people been on SAS lately cementing their status matches - they are probably worth a review.... Although the reviews I have seen haven't been amazing...

Great video. After flying BA and IB in Euro biz recently, it always surprises me that they haven't followed the US and APAC airlines like QF by having different seats to economy in narrow bodies. I understand the logic, but it gives you a much improved hard product experience.
Ah the loo review. Yes, have to say, I’m not sure I get it. I have shown a loo on one of my videos but only because it had a window! 😂 Aegean on my list now Matt. Thank you. 🙏

Small touches which cost pennies to an airline can enhance the overall impression which might make you fly them again etc
Hi Matt great stuff as usual. I vote for no more toilet videos. I've passed comment on toilet video's before and don't see the point of them, a lav, mirror, sink usually tiny space to do your business in, we've all experienced them. 😀
Hi mate. Just thinking about a conversation we had a few months back about your health - did you rip that thing out of you like I advised? LOL! But in all seriousness how is that side of things? 3:52 oh wow fair play to that employee who cares about her brand. She will go places! 8:29 ouch - called a customer a liar and no compensation! BA did that to me.
All good here. In the middle of my first annual review - had the MRI and the call is in another week or so. No expectation that anything has changed so another year of waiting for it to be better to act than to wait....
I don't think I've seen you this upbeat about a euro Business class offering in a long time. Like you have said in a previous video, it's not much value especially if one has status. And this highlights that apart from a blocked middle seat and fast-track passport control at arrival (not available obviously for intra-Schengen journeys), once the meal service is done, the additional you paid for your business class ticket has extinguished just like that. I've also made a point in a similar TH-camr's video: if you want to pay for or burn points on euro Business class: come early to enjoy the lounge. That's where you will extract the most value for your "euro business class premium".
I once took a photo of the lcd screen showing Cathay Pacific Hong Kong and the lady on the adjoining check in desk went mental screaming at me “no photos no photos” So be careful at LHR when using your camera 😮
Toilets do not need inclusion unless notable for failings or they're exceptional in a positive way... hence your Emirates comment, though BA's a380 toilets upfront are also rather good.
Aircraft lavatory-sorry-loo tours: What I might find helpful is if, by some miracle, a taller design engineer had managed to overcome many years of blatant disregard for ergonomics and instead organized the position of the toilet such that bending backwards was not necessary.
Feel free to ditch the loo scenes Matt - unless it’s a truly exceptional toilet experience (I’m thinking Japanese carriers here) and a complete departure from the usual “bog standard” then I’m pretty sure that most of us can live without them!
Emirates A380 lower deck at the front is another interesting one, for economy or premium ecnomy on the refurbished A380's. One of them is a lot bigger than the average economy / premium economy toliets.
Yeah, sack the loo review off… not really interested what’s in there etc but maybe a passing comment than showing me the umpteenth TH-camr in an airplane loo😂 Josh gets most things right IMHO and he’s spot on here too.
I think you got a dodgy crew on the final flight with the upside down tray and plastic covers left on each plate! I don’t need to see the toilets unless they’re something special, although a mention of any special business class amenities would be welcome.
I know it’s right at the edge of Europe, but you really need to try Turkish airlines, business class product. Sure the lounges at Gatwick and Heathrow are not the best, and the needlessly overpriced giant terminal is an absolute nightmare, but at least you get a proper business class seats. Unlike almost every other airline across Europe.
If you happen to miss your flight then finding the hotel desk is a whole new world of misery. When it happened to me none of the staff had any idea where it was, we were pointed in the wrong direction on numerous occasions and it is only when you finally get there you see a small signpost right above it. Every other person we spoke to in the queue help the same frustrating experience
Thank you Matt also for showing the variety of Greek rocketfuel. Ouzo is clear, Tsipuoro is - if it´s good - grape mark, if it´s bad it is made of something like old tyres and banana skin. The third one is something I never heard of. So Aegean, please tell us what you serve. Nevertheless, I really approve of Aegean´s service. Watching something about the loo, I think I have to...
I don't care at all about toilet reviews, unless there is something really unusual. I'm really pissed off about this "European business class" rubbish. It's like an excuse that's now become accepted. BC needs to have extra legroom and a different seat.
THY is more of an Asian airline, both because of being in an Asian country and that you would most likely compare it with EK, QR etc. not with European carriers like LH, LX, AF and so on
To be perfectly honest, not viewing ANY part of ANY Josh Cahill video must be a wonderful thing as he just gets ignored these days as I do not enjoy watching a review of a flight conducted by what seems to be a perpetually whinging small child.

I always enjoy your videos, but I’m with you and Josh on loo reviews…unless it’s something really spectacular!
That seems to be the consensus!
Spot on - I do like Aegean! Although they are expensive if you buy a business seat, as you say...
I'm still satisfied with Lufthansa senator status
Quite tough to maintain I think? But if you get lots of business travel its not so bad?
I once took a photo of the lcd screen showing Cathay Pacific Hong Kong and the lady on the adjoining check in desk went mental
screaming at me “no photos no photos”
So be careful at LHR when using your camera 😮
Never had a problem at LHR although I tend not to wave my camera around!
Toilets do not need inclusion unless notable for failings or they're exceptional in a positive way... hence your Emirates comment, though BA's a380 toilets upfront are also rather good.
A regular A320 loo does not qualify! Roger!
Another Sunday, another great video but another loo video? Leave it out
Loud and clear!
Aircraft lavatory-sorry-loo tours: What I might find helpful is if, by some miracle, a taller design engineer had managed to overcome many years of blatant disregard for ergonomics and instead organized the position of the toilet such that bending backwards was not necessary.
I'll certainly publicise one if I find one!
Hi Matt
Is there going to be a video about your stay in Saudi?
There will be - another week or two before it comes along.... Might be a bit controversial...
I think I'll show them if there's something worth showing
Yeah, sack the loo review off… not really interested what’s in there etc but maybe a passing comment than showing me the umpteenth TH-camr in an airplane loo😂 Josh gets most things right IMHO and he’s spot on here too.
If there's something worth sharing I'll cover it
gta 6 trailer 2 soon 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Look forward to it!
@ are you gonna get it
I think you got a dodgy crew on the final flight with the upside down tray and plastic covers left on each plate! I don’t need to see the toilets unless they’re something special, although a mention of any special business class amenities would be welcome.
Its the small things, eh?
So you're trying to say if I m reading between the lines 'it's attractive'?
I like them!
Turkish is certainly on the radar.... But i need to get in training for that airport....
Ah sometimes footage is handy eh to prove you weren't lying! :)
Indeed!
Thanks - tyre based alcohol doesn't sound great, does it???
@@MattsPlanet Not really, and it only speeds up headache...
Seemingly Aegean are getting A321LRs with flat beds ....
That would be a happy day!
I don't care at all about toilet reviews, unless there is something really unusual. I'm really pissed off about this "European business class" rubbish. It's like an excuse that's now become accepted. BC needs to have extra legroom and a different seat.
Airliner seats are on tracks which means you can very quickly alter the seat pitch at least. They don't even bother with that.
Thanks - the occasional widebody shows up but it is a poor offering
I would say Turkish Airlines is a better European airline as they fly wide-bodies intra-europe, but Aegean is on a very good 2nd place!
Not flown them actually but a few people have said that - hopefully there's more to them than just flying widebodies
Nope is not turkey 🦃 airlines, and have many issues, the only reason u say it, is cuz you are from turkey 🦃
THY is more of an Asian airline, both because of being in an Asian country and that you would most likely compare it with EK, QR etc. not with European carriers like LH, LX, AF and so on
@@DimitrisSartzetakis their hub is on the European continent. Not in Asia.
To be perfectly honest, not viewing ANY part of ANY Josh Cahill video must be a wonderful thing as he just gets ignored these days as I do not enjoy watching a review of a flight conducted by what seems to be a perpetually whinging small child.
I couldn't possibly comment.... No discomfort too small to make into a thumbnail, eh?
filming toilets always seems weird to me. stop it immediately please
Roger!

This flight? Or Greece in general???
