Joe died 2 months after this concert. did he know he only had a short time to live? If so , then it is an absolutely astounding and profound performance from a dying man. Incredible, uplifting, wonderful music. the incessant driving rhythm of Orient Express is just awesome. Each one a gifted musician totally immersed in the music. Joe hardly looks at his keyboards, always intently watching his band. i love this video. Thanks very much Jazz for All for posting this memorable event,
Wow. The atmosphere here is breathtaking. A new world, a different world, a better world. My mind can barely take it all in. Joe Zawinul created wonderful, other worldly music that is timeless.
I absolutely love Joe beyond words.....and miss his spirit and music....he was very kind to me and my music. Zawinul is my musical and spiritual father....
A word to the wise - do not go against this Syndicate. Resistance is futile... All kidding aside, this is music at its most wondrous. It has the blood of life pulsing through it. Where it comes from I do not know, nor do I need to know. Thank Heaven it is here.
There are many incredible electric bassists today, but there is only one who could hang with musicians like these out on the high wire, without a net, like Jaco did all those years ago. Thank you, Linley.
In my opinion Jo zawinul is one of the greatest musicians who has ever lived. If you like this check out an album from 1986 called "Dialects". Who could disband WR and come out with something even better...Jo zawinul. And the female singer out front listen to what she does on the zawinul documentary with absolute ensemble...an absolute killer. Revolutionary
Sonically rich, rhythmically intricate, extremely high musicianship, brilliant composition, great live audio an video production. A rare jazz masterpiece.
Joe had the rhythm sorted out, funky jazz. he didn't fly up and down the keyboard very often but he could nail some fine riff's and timing like no one else. Bless the man and his bands.
AS I WATCH THIS PERFORMANCE MY EYES BEGIN TO WELL UP WITH TEARS FOR A MAN THAT I NOT ONLY MISS ,BUT ALSO FOR A MAN THAT LIVED LIFE TO FULLNESS -JOE ZAWINUL =GUTS ,ENERGY,BALLS,CREATIVE.-JAZZ 4 ALL- THANKS FOR THE VIDEO PEACE.
The best music has the ability to transfer emotion between people. This band does it in absolute bucket loads. One of my lifetimes best bands by some margin. Astonishing.
It;s Zawinul.Actually...he plays himself . One of the greatest ever . As Miles , Evans, Brubek....each giants.Jobim , Caetano Velosos . By the way he;s tigany. Gypsy..From Austria.
I first “met” Joe on Yusef Lateef’s Lp The Centaur and the Phoenix. From October 1960. Yes he’d already almost been to Berklee but went on the road with Maynard Ferguson instead. Soon Julian Adderley picked him up. Wow! But in between there he got with Lateef to make that absolutely fabulous Lp. Joe’s first recorded performance? I’m not certain about that. But one of his first for sure. What a giant of music he was.
Im stunned! Simply breath taking music from this great man and his mind blowing band. It simply doesnt get better than this for me. RIP Joe I hope you are having fun up in the clouds dear man
Muzyka, tak. Zawsze przestrzenna, zawsze ponad. Precyzyjna. Sam twórca, podbił mnie, ostatnim akcentem swego życia. A w zasadzie, podsumowania. Swoim nagrobkiem. Spoczywaj w pokoju, twórco.
Which one ? Why ? ... because he is just moving around. Is there something I don't understand. Just curious. Isnt He is just acompanying with the shaker.
Josef Zawinul wir werden Dich nie vergessen-we'll never forget YOU LOVE and music .Ich bin immer traurig über Dein ''nicht mehr unter uns weilen'' als sichtbarer Mensch.I'm still sad about your 'not being among us sightibal humans.

what mystifies and disgusts me is that people of a certain age like me, post works of True Art, for all to appreciate, and zilch! wtf happened to this generation of kids? Claim your brain cells back!!!!
It was time for it to end, the genre was completely worn out and starting to get caricature allures, the real Weather Report was at the Chateau Vallon festival in 1973!
Here really shines the sun! The good hearts!

Some say that he got admitted to the hospital one month before dying. Maybe he didn't know at that time after all.
so much life in those eyes .....glad he was good for the most part....nice way to go i guess
@Steven Perren Thank you Steve. I have watched his last duet with WS...very moving...two giants of jazz together for the last time...
extraordinary
Perfect commentary...
R.I.P to Jazz legend Joe Zawinul. I own his DVD 75. It is a live concert masterpiece.

A better world..........🙏🙏🙏❤️
My dad introduced me to this gold! It's still amazingly fresh today.
Joe Zawinul is a giant of modern music. The greatest plus Wayne Shorter. Wayne and Joe was the most fruitful collaboration of all time.
Yes. Only for Birdland and Jaco on the bass . More than enough .
Just for a few years.
@@daskapitaljeank And made history ;-)). What did you do , apart from internet wanking ?
I absolutely love Joe beyond words.....and miss his spirit and music....he was very kind to me and my music. Zawinul is my musical and spiritual father....
This band was chompin with Linley and Paco. JZ and Chick I believe are two of the most important keys in this genre in my lifetime.
True include Herbie Hancock

Amen
Aziz Sahmaoui absolutely wrecks it on this. He’s the special sauce in this band for me
word.....Aziz just nails it to the wall and the ceiling.....
@@jazzfusioner9840 Sound. Are you all tone deaf?
He wrecks it all right. Wonder what it would sound like if he could carry a tune.

he's soloing so relaxed and his music is so heavy. He's the jazz of jazzrock
Saw this band at the Camden jazz cafe the same month - they were awesome. Linley is a monster player. :)
Hi Gareth, that Jazz Cafe/Camden gig was in March 2007....My tribe and I were there!
Me too. I walked down the High St. behind Joe after the show. Amazing and Linley is staggering.
A moody melody that floats along side of any grove. It is good medicine..........I'm healed !
Joe... Musica che tocca tutti i porti del mondo.. Un gigante.. Per fortuna una sola volta ti ho visto.. Ma, restano i tuoi dischi... Un gigante..

Just as many artist. He took the influence from his mentor, Miles Davis and created a version of his own.
Sheer musical brilliance.
They bring us to the land of great beyond… ❤whatever that is is up to you, transcend. Please…after you!
