7 years later and this is still THE BEST game trailer I have ever seen in my life. I come back to watch this a few times in a row every so often and it blows me away every single time.

This trailer really hit me hard. Ever since dad passed away last year I've been trying to find my way through the overwhelming grief. He was everything to me, and now he's gone. I feel very much like Kratos.

I've never in my life gotten this emotional after watching a game trailer until after seeing this. The music and cinematic story of it is too powerful. I remember when this first was released, it hit me like a ton of bricks, and I know absolutely nothing about god of war! Like I said, powerful.

It's almost like the song is telling the story of Kratos his pain and his hatred to the Olympus gods to think Zeus would do something like that to his own son

Kratos' story is a sad and tragic story. But he got what he wanted and he got it at a terrible price he has to live with and deal with for the rest of his life. And its a price that cannot be undone. Like Orkos said "What was done, cannot be undone.".

trying to squeeze a 10 hour video game story...such a story into 2 hours would either be too fast paced to give a damn about or so watered down its fucking nothing like GOW. Hence why all video game movies suck... because of these two things.

Ya know, people accuse God of War of being a bloodly, mindless hack N slash game. But it's more than that. The story of Kratos is simple, but deep. In the first game what was Kratos' goal? I personally think that killing Ares was less about revenge than people think and more about avenging. Kratos wanted release from his nightmares, he wanted peace, peace in his soul. The gods didn't give him that, so at the start of two he was venting his frustrations through Sparta's conquests. He didn't want power, he wanted peace. Wanting power was what got him in his predicament. He didn't want to be a god, he didn't want more power and until Zeus' betrayal all he wanted was peace. At the end of three when he learns that Zeus and the other gods were being controlled by the evils of the box, you can see some level of remorse in him.
We've played three games of watching a guy loose his humanity and then get it back. Heck in Ascension, there is a cut scene where Kratos pushes a man out of the way of an incoming spear, past Ascension Kratos would never even do something as simple as that.

After becoming a father myself a couple of years back, I found this again. Its when you are a parent that you can TRULY understand the pain , agony and ultimately the rage Kratos has. Its just as awesome but now I feel like 100 times more as a dad.

I love God of War Ascension ! I just love it ! We get to experience the human side of Kratos.... I believe what they did to him explains why he acted like that... It is not like the Gods killed his family but they did in fact made his life miserbale... He lost his brother , he was the son of Zeus and his father left him alone...
After finishing Ragnarok, this scene playing through Kratos head made it clear why he didn’t want to lose Atreus
