maggie is such an inspirational young lady. I wish nothing but the best for her in the future. And with the help and support of her family she will be able to achieve anything she sets her mind to.
wow its so funny, how much people that can hear take for granted, like if we turn on a fan we can hear the humming but to a deaf person they would die just to hear those sounds. I'm so happy that this girl can hear and experience the world of sounds!
Her brain must be rewiring itself like crazy to adapt to a whole new sensory input, and it would be very interesting to see brain scans of all the changes.
Michael Parker I wonder how she is doing too, the sad truth is that she may never fully adapt due to the age that she got the implant if she had it when she has an infant 1-2 year of her life I believe she could have for sure adapted 100% to it
+Hannah Rose Those who haven't lost and regained something so important have trouble understanding what it feels like. I guess it would feel like finally waking up without that week long migrain and have to learn chinese.
.First it's a bit weird... Cause you don't really remember how everything sounds... But it's an amazing feeling to hear everything again& you appreciate it even more. But it sounds a bit different as when you hear normal..like if you're phoning someone.
If nobody answers when the operator asks what the issue is or if she were to just hang up or something they automatically have to send a police to their house no matter what.
theres a special phone for deaf people where theres a screen that you can type the message and it sends it to the person. Its sort of like she types it and an automated voice speaks to the other line and its really cool and theres some high tech hearing aids now that can actually do this through their mobile phones but its very costly so most deaf people do the screen version

Dying to hear sounds? Not really. It would be an experience to begin with but then we would gradually take sounds for granted just like anyone.
