My wife Dawn used to laugh and cry so much watching movies. She lived through the films she loved. She is the greatest loss to me.

I feel people look down on sensitivity because they associate it with instability. Instead of promoting suppression of emotions we should teach emotional regulation.
Regulation isn’t NOT feeling emotions but knowing how to direct the energy. The lack of regulation is what makes that energy build up and causes someone to explode. Sensitive people get to that point sooner because more input enters our vessels.
Sensitivity is a threat to a world that aims to numb us for the sake of productivity. For the more in tune we are with ourselves and our environment the harder we are to control. It’s so easy to create a world that makes it difficult to feel centered, then point the finger and shame people who crack under that pressure because they are just made different.
I don’t have the energy to work the same amount of my peers. I need naps, I need quiet time; I need space to regulate or I will feel unstable. We all need regulation. People who don’t honor regulation are the ones that end up going crazy, making sensitivity look like the culprit.

I've also struggled with this. But as you said, you need to embrace your emotions. We do experience life differently.

We have so much in common wow, I'm cancer too! haha what a coincidence! I'm a very sensitive person but in a different way than you described. I do understand where you're coming from though because I also experience it sometimes. I'm more sensitive towards people's words. A great example would be my ex-manager. His words would pierce through my heart, even if it was the slightest criticism and I would hold in my tears until I left that office, hellhole. I know a lot of people have worse managers than I did but for me it came to the point where even when he would compliment me (on rare occasions), I would become incredibly anxious because I couldn't tell if I truly deserved that praise or if all my previous mistakes were balanced out by this one compliment. IK it sounds so ridiculous and probably doesn't make any sense but I just can't help but think this way.

Yay!! Fellow Cancer homie, I love that :) I know exactly what you mean actually! Sometimes I get that feeling too with criticism, or sometimes I would say something and the person would react in a certain way that seems negative and I think to myself “oh shit I fucked up now they hate me” and I start to overthink my behaviour. I couldn’t even begin to imagine having a boss like that but I understand why you would feel the way you would. I remember there was a time in school I had to present a short film I had made and I was so afraid of showing my work that I had to walk out of the classroom and block my ears while it was being played. I remember after that class was over, I went to the bathroom and cried. I think that experience was really pivotal because it told me that I actually cared so deeply about what I was doing. We often get told we take things to heart, and yeah, we do because we care a great deal.

Love your video. I think people are losing their ability to feel in the current trend of fast dopamine indulgence. I am trying to rewire my brains and your words help me figure stuff out. I am happy to know people like you exist. ❤

A therapist I had once told me "Trust me, being sensitive is much better than being on the opposite side of the spectrum", which falls within the realm of sociopathy. Being sensitive also brings an intrinsic level of awareness to other people's feelings, which can be super helpful in fostering relationships. As you said, it's a gift. One that should be accepted, not rejected. Highly recommend Life is Strange: True Colors if you haven't played it already. Also, you have a VERY genuine and gorgeous smile!

I thank you for making a video like this. Many people struggle with being too sensitive, but it's actually one of the best traits you can have. I myself are highly sensitive. I'm a male so I guess you could say it's stereotypically abnormal for me to be highly sensitive (I'm a Sagittarius btw so I guess that it makes some sense). Somewhat recently, I've begun to embrace my emotions and how brilliant it is to be able to feel emotions on a large scale and I'm so happy because of it. Many of my friends struggle to understand why I'm so positive now, even in very recent dark times. Again, thank you for making this video. I'm hoping many more people will see this video so it helps them.

I often contemplate...do I feel things differently, do we all just sort of fall into groups and categories...or do we all feel so uniquely that it's why god chose to become each and every single one of us. To experience life and living from each and every perspective even if its so subtly different from one person to another. Sometimes it feels like we are all so different and other times so similar. Almost like the same person just reacting to different perspectives. I dunno. I'm jealous you found this sensitivity so soon. I remember discovering that I don't think I feel emotions and then whoosh...they said nope...and I cry constantly and sometimes for no reason at all ever since.

I know exactly what you mean. I think we’re a special group of people that are capable of feeling this way. So you’re right, we’re not entirely unique, but the culmination of our lives and things we’ve experienced mixed with a bit of our innate personalities that we’re born with create this phenomenon called the individual. As individuals we are all unique, experiencing non-unique things :)

To all of the highly sensitive people. Being highly sensitive is not some sort of gift. Is a reflection of being highly traumatised, period. Our bodies live in hyper alert, we're hyper vigilant due to the stress and neglect that we lived through our childwood. Stop thinking you are a rare specie. Theres is a percentage of population that is considered highly sensitive meaning we walk through live acting and reacting to our traumas.

Man, another amazing video! 💫 I'm glad that you've finally accepted yourself for who you really are, we all need exactly that. Because all that "too sensitive" bs is just other people's inability to accept others who are different, and that says more about them than about you. So keep being you!
