Watching this makes me think how our leaders have failed us. These are the same clothes sold to US,UK Asia and we import it as Mitumba.
We need to change this seriously wakenya.

This isn't the gov's problem, it's a cultural thing. A very small percentage of the kenyan market actually buys new clothes as compared to the majority who buy mtumba. A brand new shirt normally costs 1000-1500 anywhere in the world. But most kenyans wouldn't be willing to spend that much and would rather pay 200 for the same. That's why the apparel business isn't booming here. Most Kenyan people simply don't have that kind of money. I do find it ironic though that we make the clothes, export them and import them back as second hand.

I can remember several times when the government has tried to ban mitumba it is Kenyans who make noise demanding for the ban Tobe lifted.

We need to stop importing second hand clothes so that we can slowly improve our local textile manufacturering because they will be sent back as second hand clothes 😀

It doesn't matter who owns the company. As long as it's registered in Kenya and hires kenyan workers.
