    Want to know how the Ryobi did later in the year? Check this video out! We used it at our off-grid cabin with low water pressure! th-cam.com/video/IJNomoR7yxU/w-d-xo.html

    Thank you for this comparison! I was torn between the 2 & you just made it easier for me. Going Home Depot tomorrow to get the Ryobi. Now I just need to find a decent foam cannon for my vehicles.

      Can't help with the cannon but I can tell you I am still using the Ryobi

    I got the Craftsman 1800 - used it once and it worked great. Went to use it a second time and it would trip 3-5 seconds after plugging it in. With/without extension chord didn't make a difference, different property locations etc. Put it away for a few weeks before trying it again and it worked without issue. Went to use it again a week later and it was tripping again the same as before. It seems to only work when the stars align.

      Thanks for sharing! I tossed mine, and bought the Ryobi and now, almost two years later, it's still great!

    I have the same craftsman, it does not run constantly. In fact the moment you turn it on it pumps up for about 2 seconds and shuts off,,only runs while your spraying, when you stop it stops. Pretty standard feature on all these 100 to 200 dollars washers. Sounds like you tried to force the hose on and cross threaded it. That or you just got a defective one. It can happen with any of these cheap washers

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't doubt it was defective. In the end though the Ryobi has continued to perform very well!

    And you just did a great endorsement of Home Depot because Lowe’s does not carry the Ryobi. I just went to Lowe’s and the only small portable pressure washer was that craftsman. So now I’m on my way to Home Depot to buy the Ryobi. Thank you for the review. Oh, one more thing, Lowe’s craftsman was $139 1800 the one they had. Home Depot was $99 for the Ryobi.🎉 so you save me some money on that also. Thanks, greatly appreciate it.

    The ryobi has been good to me but I’m on my second unit because I had some minor complications with the first one. I think it was partially my friends fault for crosstheading the outlet end on the machine and the hose came whipping me in the face!
    Otherwise the replacement we had to get that same moment due to the stripped fitting I couldn’t get the dam thing to thread on, the replamcent unit has been great and I’ve used it a dozen times already for car washing and primarily engine bay and undercarriage detailing

    If the water isnt flowing, the pump shouldn't be running. The Ryobi pump will last way longer.

  • @dhansel4835
    @dhansel4835 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ryobi does has a 3 year warranty.
    Cutting the motor off and pump off when not in use is very important. I have a 5hp pressure washer with a Cat pump. It says do not let it run
    over 2 minutes without being used. What happens the unloader valve gets so hot it will damage the $ 400 pump.
    Ryobi seems like the one to get.

      Thanks for that info! .awesome sense that the Craftsman died. Meanwhile the Ryobi still performs well!

    Bought the Craftsman about 3 years ago from Lowes. I did the same thing, tried to return to Lowe’s on day 31 and they told me to go touch grass. I wash the car 3-4 times a year. Today, it stopped turning on. Called the support number and after talking to a robot answering service for 20 minutes, I think they are sending me a replacement. Odd thing is, the robot only needed the model number and my phone number and address before saying the replacement order has been filled. Came here deciding if I should sell it and get a different one, don’t really want a bigger pressure washer taking up space in the garage.

    We have a gas craftsman from 5 or more years ago and while it still works there always seems to be some complication every time it is used.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I suspect the gas ones are better built but this craftsman wasn't. I did some research and found this to be common problem with them!

      I have a Ryobi gas version with a Honda motor....it's a pain to use. It always has issues with it every time I use it, even after cleaning the carburetor, flushing out the gas before it's stored for the winter. Nothing works to avoid it being stubborn to get in going.

    I noticed the quality of Craftsman electric items going down probably 20+ years ago. The little things like belt tracking on a 4x24 belt sander, power switch on a chop saw and drill. Basically earned the new name Crapsman :(

    Eddie Lambert gutted Sears and trashed the reputations of Kenmore and Craftsman by reducing their quality to garbage. Then he sold the brands off to other companies that won't ever revive their quality (Stanley). Craftsman is a brand to be avoided.

    • @TheOldJarhead
      @TheOldJarhead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Didn't know about Mr Lambert but I've seen Craftsman drop from being a good quality product to, well, what I chucked in the garbage bin! Thanks for the comment!
