Absolutely beautiful and great walk down memory lane for me! It looks all familiar and different at the same time going the other direction! It made me giggle seeing the “pretend steep scramble” but I agree ... those inclines are no joke 😉👍🏻😁 thanks for another lovely video!
How nice to have such beautiful open country to hike in (and such a pretty day to hike)! This was a visual feast, especially since my recent hiking has been in the "green tunnel" except for occasional overlooks. Here, you get a buffet of views every time you look up. I agree that it's nice to have a sunny but slightly cool day for hiking. I like 10-13 degrees (50-55 degrees F) with low winds and a bright sun. It would be a bit scary, though, to be hiking in that terrain in a thunderstorm. No cover.
Thanks so much John, it really was a great section with ideal conditions for a change here! I can certainly imagine it being pretty grim in a storm for sure!
Wow! This section was very dramatic, wasn't it? It had amazing views and interesting features. Also the terrain seemed quite a bit more rugged than many of the other hikes you've shown. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful adventures and recipes!
Maria, I felt firm in the GPS. I learned to use a compass, but GPS did not. Wow? because I haven’t yet, I haven’t walked in the woods for a long time. 💦🌳🌳🛶🌳 And you saw the amount of waterfalls, bush, rivers in MG
Have you considered doing the Sandstone Trail…? It’s about 35 miles in total and goes from Central Cheshire (Frodsham) to Whitchurch in Shropshire. There are several hill forts, castles, forest and I think canals along the route….. Some people split it into 3 sections and just do a section at a time……😁
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures - Part of it passes close to where I live and have done small bits through the forest but I haven’t done the full trail (I’m in a wheelchair so can’t), my father & some mates did it years ago and I think it was on a program that Julia Bradlbury does. From what I know it’s very scenic and not difficult. It just follows a ridge of Sandstone and has great views over the South Cheshire Plains… sandstonetrail.co.uk
Wow, what a view where you stopped for lunch. 😘 I guess the question on everyone's mind is....did the beetle make it up that rock? 🙃🪲. Thanks, Mary. 🙂👍
Amazingly beautiful countryside. Not sure why you thought it would take longer, seemed like you were going at record breaking speed down (what seemed to me) a pretty treacherous trail. I’m curious to know where your camera is positioned when you’re on the trail using your poles? It’s wonderful you can take public transport to the trails, that would be so perfect for me. Thank you so much for sharing part of your life , it’s beautiful and most interesting and inspiring. 🤗🙏🏻💚
Thanks so much Anita! I actually did the route the week before to see what it was like and took me longer than it did when I filmed this - I was expecting it to take even longer when filming but I obviously didn't stop as long at the breaks! It's really difficult using poles when filming which is why they were on my pack in nearly every shot! Otherwise I either collapsed them and tucked them under my arm or put them back on my pack. Sometimes I leave them lying on the trail and go back for them or if Derek is with me he holds them! 💚
How long has it been Mary since ur last solo overnighter ??? Up, down,up, down Gosh that song sounds familiar 😂 lol !!! In the meantime keep on rocking the free world ☺️
It was last year before lockdown! We hadn't been able to stay away from home due to the lockdown restrictions, but can now once again start travelling. In the next video there is a little wild camping involved 😁
Thanks, Mary. I enjoyed the scenery along the way. BTW,. did you ever take your hiking poles out of your pack? All of the shots I saw you in had them in your pack.
Hi Mary, No wild swimming in the Black Moss Reservoir? All the rage these days. I guess you got unauthorised again🤣. I hate those limestone flags but they are a lot better than walking through wet bog. I think you managed to capture a good day on the moors, a bad day is a totally different fish. The Pennine Way changes character every day, I think the best section is Malam Cove heading North, Peregrines wheeling in the air, huge limestone cliffs around you then the land flattens out and there is a large lake. I really recommend this section. Keep hiking, Iain
I know, all these rules spoiling my fun 😂 Yes I was certainly lucky with the weather, there have been some very interesting hikes on the moors in bad rains and wind! Thanks for the tip on Malam Cove, I shall have to visit there soon as I have seen some great photos from the area.
thanks for sharing this video mary,i live not to far from any given location in this video in a small town called mossley,my question being how long does it take from black hill to laddow rocks and what is the track like?many thanks.....ken.
Yes Mary I walked the full Pennine Way route in 2007 and I think it is the best long distance route I have done because of the scenery and remoteness of it and would also love to do it again sometime.
Thank you for another great video. I always enjoy your photography and your enthusiasm.
Thank you very much Jim!
Beautiful hike! Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed it😁
Enjoyed this so much. Thanks for sharing!
So glad you enjoyed it Susanna, thank you so much 💚
Beautiful hike (: thank you Mary🧚🏻
Thanks so much James 🧚🏻
Good morning Mary! Beautiful hike. Parts of the trail remind me of the PCT. Thank you for sharing. Blessings and safe hiking.
Good morning Vickie! It reminded me of sections too. I hope you are keeping well 💚
Lovely video many thanks 🙏 for sharing x
Glad you enjoyed it - thank you!
Love this video Mary. Amazing scenery. x

Wow beautiful views! Loved this video ☺️
Thanks so much! 😊
Amazing! You had much better weathered than when I walked that leg 😅 I also found black hill to be devoid of human life.
Absolutely gorgeous country.
Thanks Jessica!
Another lovely and happy video :)
Thank you! 😊
Just such a lovely video. You know how to do them right! Thank you so much. Blessings
You are so kind Betty, thank you 😊
Happy happy hiking days! Hard to beat that! Hello from Canada. : )
Hello there and thank you!
Another fabulous video sweetheart you certainly show the best of the landscape 😘
Thank you my darling 😘
What a wonderful day for a hike! Amazing views. 😊💖🐶🐶
Yes the weather gods were certainly on my side that day Bob!

Yes it was! Thanks so much for your kind words Lisa 😊
Nicely done, Mary. You looked blissful out there. Just one complaint: the sign should read: "Be Kind, Say 'Eh Up Duck!"
Love it 😂
That was a delight.
Thank you!
Good to see you out on trail again! I’ve missed ‘good morning’ 😁
Thanks Jimmy 😁

Thanks for the suggestion as I hadn't heard of this trail before. Have you done it before and if so would you recommend it?

It did make it! Then for some reason turned around and went back down again 🤣
You're good at this. I tried and was wooden and awkward. I gave up 😀
Thanks so much! I was a bit awkward when I started too.

Yes I did 🤣 I used them on the way down. It's a bit tricky to hold the camera and the poles together so for the most part they were attached.

It is 2.8 miles along the Pennine Way and takes roughly 1 hour 20 minutes. The path is obvious and narrow, lots of rocky bits and easy to navigate.
@@MarysOutdoorAdventures thanks.
Very nice hike! I thought the British used SI units instead of English units?
We use metric and imperial which isn't confusing at all 😆
Have you ever walked the whole of the Pennine Way Mary, I am sure you would love and embrace it
Not yet! I have only done between Edale and Standedge so far, but it is certainly on my list to do in full at some point! Have you hiked it before?

Yaay 3rd viewer and 1st comment! I like your videos and energy a lot Mary😻
Yay! Thank you Shiva!
Be careful about talking about where you live. I know most everyone here is nice but be careful.
Thanks Rosie 😊
