12 Monkeys: A Time Travel Classic That Should Be Watched

12 Monkeys is a Terry Gilliam time travel film that is well respected. But is it a classic? Should it be something we put on lists of the great time travel films that have ever been made? What makes this film special?

I generally don't like time travel stories (causality loops and all that) but I've always found this one interesting enough in other ways. The perils of trying to intervene based on limited data and incorrect assumptions is an oft-forgotten lesson.

I've never heard of the Cassandra syndrome before but that definitely encapsulates that movie. I sadly do think we're living in that situation right now I'm really worried about my kids future. I love Gilliam's visuals of the future too he's so unique.

I always recommend it. Bruce basically loved the script and agreed to work for peanuts on it.

I'm not normally a fan of time travel in films. But this is the exception, what an amazing film. Willis at his best and Brad Pitt is awesome as well. Great review man

I enjoyed the movie immensely. The SyFy channel did a very good series based on the movie. The first season is fantastic. The last two seasons are good and worth watching, but they don't reach the heights of the first. It doesn't have the Gilliam quirkiness of the movie, but it is a solid adaptation.

Also there's a time travel film with Ethan Hawke that's worth a watch it's seriously messed up. Called something like Transcendental

Movies make much better time travel stories than TV series. They have to have a more direct plot and are less likely to write themselves into a corner
