I love this studio. It’s modern but it’s not sterile. It’s very tastefully done. For the lack of natural light, you could use mirrors near the window to reflect the light and bounce it back in. Mirrors can also feel like having more windows. You can put one on the wall directly in front of the window and another on the adjacent wall. I’m thinking those really huge mirrors that lean against a wall but it’s your space, do anything you want and enjoy the process! The in-unit washer and dryer is a major plus also for safety purposes. If you had shared ones in your building, you’d have to be careful about who might be lurking in that space. People have really lost their minds these days. The big sister in me is really glad you have the security of your own space to do your laundry. Looking forward to decorating!!!
Love the energy of your vlogs. As a native New Yorker, I love your studio. I agree it’s super chic and the kitchen is an awesome opportunity for you to get a round table and, a small rug underneath it. Bring some cozy chic vibes, and add a vase with some fresh flowers.
Hi Lucia, new subscriber. I live in NYC so the algorithm recommended your channel. I use to be a Barista at Starbucks and what you’re experiencing is called caffeine withdrawal, it’s actually quite scary depending how addicted your body is to caffeine. I saw a former coworker try to quit caffeine cold turkey and she developed uncontrollable shaking in her hands from the withdrawal after a week of no caffeine, so just make sure to stay very very hydrated with healthy electrolytes with the caffeine especially in the summer. Also tips for storage is utilize the entire wall from ceiling to floor storage system (with 2 - 3 inches of space so you don’t hit the ceiling) because if you purchase like a medium tall storage system, just because there’s a good sale or because it’s trendy your going to run out of space very quickly. Hope that helps!
Hi Lucia 🙂 I'm glad you have a washer/dryer. I love your apartment, you have chosen a lovely place. I know that you are going through a roller coaster year and this is such an UP moment. You are going to have so many great times in your new place ✨️.
This is so exciting! 👏🏽 Maybe have your bed in the area you measured- then a sectional seating cushy comfy type sofa- Have the back of that sectional separating the kitchen and living area Then fill in the rest of your space with cocktail table etc. TH-cam has great how-to - style small NY apartment vids- Oh and light colored furniture etc to lighten up your place😜
My tip for a bathroom sink that has no counter: get a rollaway table that is a little higher than the sink and can “fit” over the sink when you need something to do your makeup on. And when you’re not using it, you can roll it to the other side of the room.
Congrats on the new apt! Suggestion for the kitchen area. Get one of those island/bar height tables to separate the space. Will give yourself some extra storage while giving you a place to sit and eat meals. You can always use a big dresser for your tv and more storage. And a captains bed/underbed drawers is a must. Also, does the apt building offer storage in the basement? That might be an option for bulky/seasonal items. Good luck!
I love it! I knew you were going to get that one! You could put a little couch at the foot of your bed so you have a sleeping and living area delineated. Can’t wait for the moving vlogs😀
I remember when I didn’t know what a cashier’s check was or how to get one 😂 So loving reminiscing my 1st apartment experience, and low-key reliving my youth a bit vicariously! Congratulations on your new place!
Your new place is adorable!! a couple notes - I'm an ice girlie myself, and for an apartment I had in the past that didn't have an ice maker, I purchased a countertop ice maker. They can be a bit expensive so it really depends on how long you think you'll be there and how much you would use it. Also, it seems like you could fit a full bed in that little nook, and then you would have room for a couch/seating area :) you could even put a curtain up to separate the space if you wanted to. It is a small space but it has so much potential!! congrats :)
I would get an L shaped sofa that can be used as your bed. The 'L' part would be the lounger/ottoman part and shorter side. This way you still have a space that is dual purpose because you will no doubt have visitors, and hanging out on your bed is not ideal. Also, this unit was my favorite of them all - the in-unit laundry and large kitchen sold me and you can use the extra cupboard space for your clothes and other stuff you need to store. Congratulations!!
ahhh lucia!! congratulations 🥹🎉 i love it!!!! what a perf first studio apt! ❤ i’ll be in nyc the first two weeks of June for orientation at my dream job 🥹🫶🏻 I couldn’t fully commit to make the move to nyc so I’ll be working from their office in my city, but I’m so freaking excited to be in nyc again 🥹🫶🏻✨ and I liiiveeee vicariously though you ❤
Wow, it’s so nice! Thanks for the tour! I know that was stressful and I’m glad that is behind you. You should be moving in this week I guess! Good luck! Will be looking forward to the next one!
Did you meet Alexis for dinner? I saw you in her vlog and I'm like, "oh wow they know each other!" Small world. Anyway, maybe a cute little island to create a "divide" between the kitchen and living area, and/or room divider between a couch/TV and your "bedroom."
Congratulations on securing your cute apartment. I have a key/mail holder by my front door. I love that I always know where my keys and sunglasses are. Can you fit a little table by the front door? Best wishes!!😊
For NYC, this place isn't that small at all. It's very well laid out, even if natural lighting leaves something to be desired. I personally would paint the walls in a cool greyish hue (with blue/grey/green undertones) and have light furniture with pieces that slightly pop out. Less is more, but showcase those things that are unique to your life and that you like seeing on a daily basis. Good luck from Chicago (which Evanston is a suburb of :P).
Omg love this apartment!!! And lowkey the bed area looks like you can fit a bed against the back wall sideways not facing the window where it would be hiding and couch touching that kitchen corner of wall in between both to separate space
Oh girl! How to do ice? 21:58 Get some ice trays - or - if you want to be really fancy, ice molds! Can’t wait to see how you figure it out for your Carrie Bradshaw cocktails! Also, I wouldn’t recommend this, but you could use the oven for sweater storage. Me personally, I’m really glad I learned how to cook (not from my mom- she was too much of a gatekeeping bitch). However, if you are not into cooking, why not? 🤷🏼♀️
Living alone tips- get ready to do ALL house chores… alone. Taking out garbage, figuring out recycling. Positive side: bed stays made, very little cleaning needed (if you are a younger female- was true for me). Biggest downside: trying to make empty space to invite a partner into my life! And I had a very girly apartment; claw foot antique tub to shower/ bath!
lol true! So used to splitting chores but I’m a much cleaner person so probs won’t have to clean as much honestly! But yeah I feel like at this point it’ll take ALOT to end up wanting to have another partner hahah
sorry for the stupid question, what is the safety concern with rent price? asking bc looking to move to manhattan and trying to understand the process / pricing. thanks!!
I think u could’ve chosen an apartment with better natural light. You toured so many in your last video & lower price. I would go insane without some sun
Oh, oooo microwave is NOT a slay! I lived without one for many years on purpose. Why is it that everything tastes better when NOT microwaved? Toaster oven or small studio oven works just as well!
Why would you use a credit card for groceries etc? That’s such a risk of getting hacked. Credit card companies can just deny the transaction and you’re fine, but if money gets taken out of your checking account that’s way more hassle…
@@ginervs not so much a hassle if you use a credit card and not a debit card. A credit card charge can be disputed, etc. People have more than one card.
I hate the process of applying for renting. it is so invasive. I don't want to give strangers my bank statements and tax returns, that is so personal. they treat you like an object.
Extremely intrusive and scary in this day and age of identity theft. It should be enough that your employment and salary can be verified. You should have to present bank statements and tax returns .
Debit card = bank card for withdrawals, bank notes, cashiers check, etc always!!! Same at every bank. For security and authentication purposes. Weird that your almost 25 and didn’t know that
I think it’s pretty typical to just use a credit card and bank online for bills, transfers, etc… Less chance of fraud that way. I keep my debit card in a safe, lol.
@@Jessica-f3z true of course, but I am referring to in-person anything bank or ATM related they are always, always going to require an actual debit card and I think it’s weird to show up to a bank and think they are just going to hand you a large sum of money without your debit card lol

eeep!! so excited to start this new chapter with this amazing community :) lmk if you have any tips for decorating in a small space !!
Love the kitchen

Thank u!! Oo i love mirrors that’s a great idea
And yes in unit will be a life saver but I didn’t think about the safety factor !!
Get a platform bed...that way you have storage/drawers under the bed. I loved mine when I had my NYC apt.
Oo good idea I’ll look around for something with storage for sure
The perfect 1st NYC apt for you!
Hehe I think so too :)

This is so exciting! I watched your last video and jeez the apartments are so expensive. Is your full time job, a 6-figure paying job?
Don’t worry, this isn’t the norm for most people lol. Most people living here can’t afford this rent, let alone at 24.
Source: me and most of my friends lived with roommates until 28/29, even with high 6 fig jobs lol 🫣
Don’t forget social media income. Even micro influencers get free stuff, paid for brand deals etc
Thankfully yes! 🤍 I’ve had a couple promotions since graduating
In my studio I have the Finn Futton from pottery barn and it’s super comfortable as a bed but still a cute couch
Oo thanks

I second this! Would love to see what you spend in a month, less the moving expenses. Just a typical month.
How do you pay for things like groceries, etc. without a debit card? Also, you’ll get interest on your security deposit.
Probably phone

Question why do have to give them your investments information?
They like to se your financial situation!
You should get a 6 ft. sofa that opens into a bed to save space.
Hmm idk I’d rather just have a separate bed

Bank with Chase. If I need a new debit card they give me a new one on the spot. If they can do it in Chicago, surely they can do it in New York.

Ice? Ice tray. Put it in the freezer and pop out the cubes. 😳 your living space is literally taken up by the kitchen. Nice closet and bathroom
Yes lol ice tray will be quick and easy
over 3k for that place seems criminal, but i hope the area makes up for it!

wow!
