Thanks a lot! My father and I use to make this in our restaurant in Brooklyn, New York every day and all our customers in the neighborhood would love this stew beef recipe! They ordered every time requesting a lot of gravy😊
Thank you so much! Happy to hear that! I decided today that I would use this music for my Jamaican dishes and my current music for my other dishes; perfect timing😊
You are too funny! Thanks for using this recipe! It does take awhile but it depends on the cut of beef used. I used a mixture of stew beef and beef shank bone-in so it took about 1 hour and a few minutes to cook. However, the blend make the recipe super delicious with white rice or rice & beans. Let me know how things turn out for you🙂
I'm just about to o make this but I put my chopped Red n yellow, pepper, chilli, garlic, ginger, onion, scallion into a measuring jug, fill it with water and use the hand processor to make it into a mush soup.... Then after fricose cooking the beef in coconut oil I add this then boil and simmer down.... Adding ketchup etc near the end.... Only I've never used beef before, I use chicken... This looks amazing, hope mine tastes as good as yours looks 🙌✊👊
Thanks Chef Ali… I’m aspiring to be a better cook and this one was a big hit… love Jamaican food. Will check out more of your recipes. Also love the music, made me giggle while I was cooking 👍🏽
Awesome! Thank you so much for your feedback! I really appreciate your support! I’m happy you love the music! Anything to make your cooking experience a great one❤️
@@ChefAliCookingShow It turned out so delicious… Added the chopped scotch bonnet, then added a whole scotch bonnet, (not chopped up) while it simmered… discarded before adding potatoes and carrots), but I love the heat. Might be too much for those who don’t like the slow afterburn 🥵 😊
I love a lot of scotch bonnet pepper too! My uncle use to eat them fresh from the tree with his dinner when I was growing up in Jamaica and he is one of the best cooks in the family. One thing I realize about scotch bonnet pepper is that it never gives me heartburn or anything in comparison to when I use the bottle peppers. It just a better choice you know, but not for everyone like you said😁
@@ChefAliCookingShow yes I make like every two weeks I’m hooked but I will look at your other recipes and try them I know there great 👍🏽 thank you for your gift
I made this today it was so delicious and so easy to make! everyone loved it 😍. I just used my pressure cooker rather than the hob. thank you sooooo much for the recipe!
You can use Goya adobe seasoning or Lawry's. If you can't get them, you can order all-purpose seasoning on Amazon, I used the Grace brand All-purpose. You should be able to get it there.
Thank you for your feedback! I appreciate your support! I think it’s possible to cook it in a crockpot, the only thing I’m not sure of is adding the potatoes and carrots. On the stovetop, I add them once the meat becomes tender enough and let it cook down to a delicious gravy state. In a crockpot, I’m not sure if you have to add everything at once or you can add the potatoes & carrots later on.
Thank you for asking, spinners are Jamaican dumplings that we traditionally put in our stews or soups. See the chicken soup video, I gave a tutorial on how to make them and round dumplings🙂👍🏾
Okay thank you for that and I apologize, I haven’t been to any of the other Caribbean island other than the one I grew up on and I haven’t had any food in America that had spinners in it from another island other than my own so I’m just speaking on what I know, sorry again.
Thank you for asking, I actually bought some pot roast recently which I plan on making soon. The stew beef technique works best for stove top and the pot roast can be done similarly except you finish it off in oven letting it slowly cook until tender. Then remove the roast and cook the sauce on stove top until it turns into nice thick gravy for your rice or mash potatoes.
It doesn’t take long, it should be less than 15 minutes give or take. Some people cook it totally in it’s own sauce without adding water but since I use bone-in I have to use water to cook it until tender👍🏾
I have never tried it on stove top but if you are talking about beef short ribs it should be fine. I normally cook my ribs in the oven but you just gave me an idea💡 Also, I made the pot roast, the recipe is coming soon🙂
Thank you for asking and for watching! Normally, I cook the meat until it’s tender to my taste. However, perp time: 25 minutes, cooking time: 1-2 hrs give or take since it’s a combination of bone-in and boneless beef stew👍🏾
Thank you for asking! The duration varies depending on the beef used, so I cook it until the meat is tender to my taste. In the video, I show you step by step how to season, cook, and check the beef for tenderness🙂👍🏾
@@ChefAliCookingShow Thanks for reply. I'm cooking it right now, i am using stew beef from the butchers. but is it around 1 hour-2 hours? Please could you be more specific or how long did it take for you to cook?
You’re welcome! Happy to help! I use beef shanks and stew beef combo, which the texture is very different for both, and one might take a while to get tender compared to the other. However, you can occasionally check the meat for tenderness between 45-60 minutes during the cooking process, and once it's tender to your liking, you add the potatoes & carrots. Once the potatoes and carrots are cooked, your stew beef is ready🙂

Thank you for using the recipe! Spinners sound really good! My grandma is old school Jamaican but she used potato and carrots for her stew beef so I stick to her recipe.
Live in Canada now and been trying different cuts of beef to get the same taste and its just not the same. Idk if its just me or if smn wrong with the beef here. Its just tough and chewy not gummy and soft
Thank you for letting me know, I did some research, and it depends on what you feed the cows with; for example, the beef in some countries like Japan tend to be softer than others because of how they feed their cows.
