    what a race execution from Sates, all of that left in the tank at the 300yards!

    First 250 2.04.07, second 250 2.02.54, in his fourth 500 ever. Sates said he screwed up on his race strategy of making it a 300/200 and didn't increase his pace soon enough until 350 - last three 50s were descending splits: 24.21, 23.98, 23.87. If he had opened it up more at 300, the NCAA and US Open record might have fallen.
    I don't always follow swimming closely, so I wonder why Kieran Smith has fallen off in the last two years.

      I think he has been focusing on training for long course meters after going to the Olympics and racing with the national team so he is focusing on the swimming part rather than turns. Also he went out way too fast in this race so we will see what he does at this years ncaas

      I believe that’s because some people prefer to do it that way, and count down as opposed to counting up. I had some international teammates that said this was the norm where they were from.

    No wonder Lia Thomas wants to swim in women’s, she swims in 4:34 versus the male winner at 4:06. What a shame to the biological women who have to put up with the ego of Lia Thomas who is a nobody in mens swimming. So unfair!

    • @lemonman394
      @lemonman394 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Foreign athletes with talent like Sates are keeping our boys sharp for international competition, not allowing them to come would result in slower championship times and more likelihood of our guys getting rolled come worlds/olympics
