- The steering wheel mountain bike - Sending MTB freeride with his crazy setup is so sick! I fit a car steering wheel on my bike and push myself to the limits to see what tricks I can do and thing I can ride! Would you try this?
My friend told me to try the steering wheel mod on my mountain bike so of course after seeing it I knew I had to give it a go. I found this steering wheel online and got myself a top loader BMX stem to help fit the wheel easier. After drilling some holes and fitting everything to my custom haibike dirt jump bike I was ready to test the new modification on some urban MTB freeride lines. I start off the video at a pump track to see how the bike performs and moves before slowly sending it harder throughout the video at a number of different riding spots, including skateparks and jumps!!

"then we've got 3 bolts in which is going to be extra safe"... Not sure Sam's definition of safe is the same as most other ordinary people's.
If sam cared that much about safety, he would wear a full face helmet when bombing stairsets on a bicycle made of a flag pole and and wagon wheels

Keith, even with out the tricks a bike is so much fun. I do just little bits but being outside and getting my heart and lungs pumping so good. Bought an ebike last June(2021) 2700km later, to quote Sam 'so dreamy, this thing is the best, so good' etc etc.
I ride that thing everywhere, geared up to ride all winter here in western Canada. Itching to up my skills, influenced by Sam. He definitely brings a smile to my face.
The level of skill has to be appreciated to drop in stairs set of doom and the bowl with no brakes…. What a legend you deserve to do be successful ✊🏼

The steering wheel is fitted properly sir.
To do some more basp-combi-like tricks, without OTSW, it might be helpful putting a white strip of tape round the “top”

Yup- a kid in my neighborhood had the Huffy Wheel with this set up. It was 1974 and I was wheelying that thing up and down the street. Steering wheel set up works great!!

Only if it's called a 'new standard', costs a fortune, and is touted as being stiffer yet more supple.

Saw several steering wheel bikes back in the ‘70s. I’d have drilled my own holes, so the grip areas would be usable. Also working out a break would really open up the possibilities 🤟🏻😉

Wait what if you maybe add a gear ratio or something to the steering column and you can turn it even more and it would give you more control at high speeds. Also maybe something like the gear paddles you have in racecars would be great to add some brakes to...😂 Also this seems like something that would even more for road bikers.

Makes ya wander from back in the day bars were shorter. Some things back in the early days of mtb still have a place
Have a look at GMBN Blake recently cut the bars shorter and shorter until, about 40mm , pretty funny tbh

We made brackets to make it straight no cutting just drill bracket match it up and bolt.
