If your a new player MAKE SURE YOU FARM FAMILARS BEFORE YOU REACH LEVEL 260. Familiars are super useful on some bosses where healing is blocked. Farming familiars after 260 will negate your progression as you need to work on your 6th job as well.
I'm in the minute 2:17 of the video and already is the best video I've seen so far sbout familiars. Usually all the other videos I've seen only explain what is a familiar, that they have potentials, the bages and how to expand them, but here finally I see someone who explain every detail without assuming that we know some other basic stuffs. I'm a returning player that haven't played for years, so i wasn't familiar with this (pun intended). Thanks for the detailed explanation!
it all becomes even more offensive once you realise that the exact system they first had which Familiar System took the place of, Crusader Codex, was better in every way except raw stats, although the set bonuses were better, but the current epic+ monster card lines are far more bloated in stats but obviously not worth the thousands of hours of grinding in the slightest. It had far better visuals with the main UI being a literal collection book/codex that you'd see being open akin to the Explorer Book you get when starting Explorer classes which even had fantasy-themed book tabs on the side with different colors each matching a monster's level group range intuitively showing each monster greyed out waiting for you to collect it, and if that wasn't enough once you clicked on a monster you did collect it would show that monster's EXACT monster drops along with their HP, SP, Level, Type and Habitat. And finally the card bonuses were more interesting like some giving meaningful buffs in the habitat of that monster, all while having the same card drop rate and the bonuses were immediate, requiring no grinding whatsoever beyond the one card drop, making each card drop an instant dopamine hit especially for those that enjoy collecting and/or have some form of OCD as it would look super neat and organized on the Codex list. Overall it gave a real sense of adventuring in a fantasy land where you're trying to learn more about these mysterious monsters, or maybe I just enjoyed too much back when Nexon actually cared even an ounce about creating wonder and immersion on their adorable and vast game instead of making every new update, big or small, mainly about allowing you to hit bigger numbers both in damage and in levels for as little input effort as possible without them putting any effort in giving us a true sense of purpose or adventure, which is only offensive because like Crusader Codex, they've done it before but not anymore and the game is severely dying for it, look no further than the current KMS changes likely coming to GMS. I love this game but it's so depressing and frustating seeing what they've done and are currently doing to it, they've completely lost their vision as to what made this game amazing. The sheer amount of flaws the game has that could've easily been fixed like skippable cutscenes or better yet, cutscenes we'd actually give a single rat's ass about. Instead we get bottom of the barrel visual novel garbage with rectangles of bad grammar, boring writing and nonsensical retconned garbage.
Nope, sadly! Most familiar lines do stack just fine, (multiple boss up to a certain percentage, IED, attack, stat, etc.) but specifically multiple drop rate lines don't. It just takes whichever familiar has the highest value and uses that.
Questions bout fams- new to maplestory currently at about 200% drop rate in reboot. Still have not obtained a large drop fam- should i continue without it and farm erda fragments? Or continue to keep trying to obtain a large drop fam.
More drop rate does help, but if you're having no luck I'd either revisit it later or cut down on how many familiars you tier up/farm a day. Fragments already have a fairly low drop rate too though, and the daily gives 12, which is still a nice boost vs. grinding them out through drops (on average for me like 1~4 every half hour at 389% drop)
Does the meso/drop rate increases when upgrading it to higher tier? Does that mean I can start with a small amount increase or should I collect enough to start with a large amount? Great video ! Thanks❤
Every time i realize I want to know how to get good familiars I watch a video, get confused/discouraged at the amount of pointless work it takes and give up
Is it worth going past epic? I have one epic thats failed going to unique twice now and i dont feel lole trying to build it up a third time. Also i dont think you can reroll lines on reboot?
The only way you can reroll on reboot is through tiering up. There was ONE event almost 3 years ago (Goo Island) that gave us a very small amount of red cards, so it's not impossible but excessively unlikely. Also I'd personally just focus on epic fams until you get some decent lines on those to use for a while. Unique is nice if you do hit those lines but failing the tier up hurts a lot, and epic gives more than good enough lines
I'm lucky ... all 48 characters were given Ali gator and big spider before update and they have that unique buffs... so I just need epics with drop rate and I'll be good but I feel bad for others who didn't do this before the changes
This system needs a rework bad, ESPECIALLY with heroic worlds (Kronos, Solis, Hyperion). We not only have to hunt for the cards, forcing us to stay in Limina and below, but even after the countless tier ups, we can still end up with nothing; can’t even rank up to legendary, which I argue reg servers don’t even need nor deserve any more than Heroic. I’d accept a 10-20% at tiering up unique to legendary and costs 100 familiars to bring it back up. But the fact that we can still get garbage lines from a unique familiar is TRASH! There needs to be separate lines per tier. Like, only give up to a maximum of normal drop/meso and remove “small amount” lines. Give us actual unique tier lines as a first line and and epic tier as second lines.
@@MisterTIBS I would totally pay 100m per roll. Give us more grinding options besides forcing us back to Limina. Or just give us Grandis familiars… something
See it doesn't increase mesos obtained, but instead only increases meso DROP RATE (the chance of a meso bag dropping from enemies) Sadly the only way to get more mesos is only through legendary lines on accessory potentials, the legion wealth buff, and wealth acquisition potion
Does the familiar mob literally not matter? Like a level 10 mob isnt any different from a level 200 mob as long as you have enough cards to play with? That's the one thing I've been looking for an answer for
Correct! Tiers are identical no matter the mob level for the familiar. A unique snail can get the same amount of boss damage as a unique limina mob, etc. I believe the only difference is the damage each familiar does when attacking other enemies, but that damage is so minimal it's not even worth mentioning whatsoever
I don't think you need to reveal it if you didn't want to, but it's worth doing because you can still get good lines from both! Revealing it at earlier tiers doesn't affect later tiers either, if that's what you're wondering
Meso rate in fams only affects meso drop rate. It does not affect how much you get from each bag. It’s pretty useless since getting a normal drop fam essentially gives you 100% meso drop rate with holy symbol. So it’s not very good.
@@ryanhoang1123 as i thought. thank you. any idea how long it should take to ease the pain of grinding for it? definitely want to move on and farm grandis...
I'm going to guess it's because you didn't do the Roro quest for the second slot! Same as when you get all 10 badges for the third slot, when you get the first badge, there's a popup on the left sidebar underneath quests/event quests/etc with the Roro familiar manager. If there is, click through that dialogue and you should have it! If it's not that, only other things I can think of is either you don't have the full badge, or the badges are on another character; badges aren't account-wide. If it's neither of those I'd try contacting Nexon support
It varies per class! Usually any map with one type of mob with a layout you can tolerate for more than a couple hours. The popular ones from memory would be 1-4 and 1-5 in Limina for most classes, and I THINK some classes farm 2-5. Moonbridge would be Void Current 1 or 3 or Last Horizon 2 or 4, Labyrinth I'm not entirely sure but know I usually farmed Suffering Core 6, Esfera would probably be any of the Mirror Touched Sea maps or the Radiant Temple maps if you're a way more mobile class, and Morass would be any of the Shadowdance Hall maps. in short: Try things out, or find where people usually farm at in your class's discord and/or various "grinding/meso rates" videos
Until you have ur 6th job maxed ur fine. The most you realistically need is a few HP fams and an item drop one. (Preferably normal and if you get lucky a large drop fam) and you will be set for a while.
familiars still makes me wanna quit as i never work on them, frustrated its per character and not a world thing like legion, and that hyper burning is only once in a while and while there is burning, all the other 42 characters you've got ain't worth leveling . Ive heard its like KMS drop all them random systems on us as a revenge for what america did to Japan or something...
Wow the familiar system is poorly designed! I jnew it was bad but didn't realize it was thay bad. One thing that i am still unsure of from the video is if the familiar stat lines are always active, or only when the familiar is summoned
