I was at that show in Thousand Oaks CA the day after the election and he is 100% correct. I think Trump was the most Presidential President we've had in decades. A President is supposed to be the servant of the people and do what the people want and he did that more than any President I can think of. The audience was numbed by the events of the previous day and we were desperate for a good laugh...and John and Eric provided it perfectly. Not coming here to defend Trump for what he said. But, I’m sure we can all come to an agreement that we’ve said things before that we wouldn’t say in front of a camera. Nobody out there is completely 100% pure, we’ve all said stuff I’m sure we all regret saying. On top of it we definitely have a ton of appreciation at this point that majority of the shit we say isn’t recorded. Because I mean, what isn’t recorded anymore??? Cleese is hardly a has-been. The man is still involved in numerous projects and entertains the world with his every word. Won nearly every possible award in every remotely applicable field and is still the most famous comedian on the planet to this day, and isn't dead. Foreign scholars still attempt to analyse his work in an attempt to understand how his comedy is so inherently entertaining regardless of language barriers.

All he does now is make cameo appearances on movies, essentially living off his past reputation. What great works has he done in the past several decades? Charlie Chaplin was finished artistically several decades before he died.
