Card board collectors! I have now made a PART 2 where I show how to eliminate the hot glue gun of the manufacturing process altogether. You find it at the end of this video or through the link here: th-cam.com/video/E21r_qh1x-g/w-d-xo.html
Fellow planeswalkers! After a suggestion by TheJaseku in the comment section, I discovered a way of making this process EVEN MORE SIMPLE and removing the part with the glue gun all together! Instead of glue, using a stapler and just "staple" together the parts where the glue used to be, works just as good and now takes even less resources. If you want me to do a tutorial on this new method (although I imagine most can probably figure out how its done lol) just answer this comment (or like it or whatever kids do these days) and I will deliver. Cheers!
Aren't the staples going to hook the sleeves and eventually damage the cards ? Really cool video anyway, I might try to do a box like this just for the look of it ! :)
I don’t even Play magic, don’t know how I ended up here lol - I‘m loving the ingenuity here, this is an awesome craft and I might use it for something else. Also you are a legend for still replying to comments :D
Always in service of the people! I've found out that these boxes are _really_ great for keeping "sensitive" fruits (like grapes, peaches, nectarines) in a stuffed backpack
I drink a lot of juice, takes me like 2 days to empty a 2l box. I am gonna be using it for my Planechase deck. (Deck boxes are easy to come by, but not ones that can hold Extra large cards.)
Great poject and tutorial. I came up with an idea of cutting the side squares diagonally (making this squares a triangles). This way the sides dont stick out and i find it more elegant :P
This is amazing! Thanks for the tutorial, saved me a lot of money and I got idea on how to customise it! 👍 Also anyone who wants to use the side that was cut out to make it, you could do the save with you did earlier to measure with a sleeved card and turn that piece into a card divider, using even more of the carton!
Not me rummaging my fridge for all cartons I could use haha! Just found this today and was amazed by the ingenuity here. Brilliant! I also watched part II as well w/ the stapler!
I made my own with the same container. The hardest part of the build is cutting the right diameter hole for the spout. If it’s not wide enough, it won’t twist shut. And you can only mangle the cover so much before it looks awful. I’m working out the kinks, and trying to master this build! I’m a barista, so, I have unlimited resources! 😎
haha glad you made it to the video! And thanks for the games at the prerelease, had my funniest matches playing with you man! Hope to see you in edh pod someday
Super convenient, clever and eco friendly! Love it, also no dislikes =D Great way of reusing Oatly as they are very eco friendly already XD Hi from sweden btw!
Well I guess spraypaint would work best, but haven't played around with that. The surface of most juice boxes are quite smooth and glossy, so you might have to rough up the surface if you're using any other hobbypaint you have lying around. Please report on the results if you paint it!
Scale modeling and minipainting hobbyist chiming in. If you haven't tried it yet or someone else is looking into it. I suggest 800 grit sandpaper and above. Should get that waterproof finish off there without damaging the paper itself.
This is perfect I literally thought about this today and just happened to come up on my youtube feed. Do you still do them like this? or is maybe an updated version.
I don't know, when you take the multi-hundred dollar deck out of such a cheap box at a tournament, don't they ask you if you've run out of money for the card holder? :)
Rather than sanding, I made a scored an X in the wax layers and peeled them off. Much faster and more consistent than sanding, and lets you get away with using a paper type glues such as tacky/modpodge.
No sandpaper? No problem. It worked fine for me without sanding at all. Maybe my cartons were of slightly different material. I'm not sure. But if you don't have it it's worth a shot. Perhaps different dinks have different finishes on the inside.
It will hold 100 single sleeves cards, yes. But having room for DS card and some tokens and stuff probably wont work. However, if you managed to get hold of a larger milk box/juice carton (like 1,5 litres) it is possible to craft a much larger box, that is perfect for EDH when you want to have some tokens, extra sleeves and such
Se que es ecológico, pero cuando ya quieres más cosas tendrás que llegar a un punto dónde comprarás cagas mas resistentes y caras, eso ya era cuando no había donde conseguir cajas
i pass, deck boxes are affordable, nicely done, secure, and illustrated nice effort though, still a good idea Although i have homemade shoes box for big storage (around 1000 card each) and illustrated like a treasure chest, or other stuff
If you manage to find a milk/juice carton of a different dimension (like the one I use in part 2 of this series) they will easily fit a DS pioneer deck (even with yorion as companion lol)
Not for sale, I recommend that everyone try to do their own! Watch my supplementary video for the updated recipe where I omitted the glue gun, thus making the progress even easier

Ultimate Guard will never financially recover from this
Nice tutorial, that's something I was looking for. Wish there was more DIY Magic tutorials like this, I love doing my own stuff
Awesome up-cycling, the locking mechanism is brilliant.

You should do one just for the exposure!
I don't think replacing glue with staples is "less resources".. just different resources.
@@abdo19code This is not entirely inaccurate yes

Can we just appreciate the guy's effort on this deck box tutorial? 👏👏
Wow, this was way better than the rubber bands I was using. My darksteel forge may be indestructible, but it wasn’t hanging on for very long.

Bro rocking up to FNM with his deck in a friggin juice box!
Cats always wanting attention at the literal worst times possible 🤣💀
Kid who always steals your juice box will be like "wtf?!?" xD
Just finished my first one and I’m super happy with how it turned out! My mothman deck is sitting pretty in it right now and it looks so clean 😮💨

can't wait to bring my 3 thousand dollars full foiled EDH deck to my LGS on one of those.

Man, this is jättecool!
Thanks a lot for this DIY instructional video! Now I feel like no other box would befit my Pauper decks!
Why am I seeing this after buying soo many deckboxes.... RIP
But no more, I will start mass production immediatley
I absolutely frickin love creative and functional repurposing. This is really cool!
The way he ended his warning about the hot glue with “that shit is hot” had me giggling

I realize it is kind of off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Josiah Kairo thanks, signed up and it seems like a nice service :D I appreciate it!!
@Gordon Bentley you are welcome :)
Gotta love how the lid didn't work at the end, lol
we all know this guy is using this for his 1k blinged out commander deck
this is an incredible tutorial for all TCG cards! thanks you very much for sharing it with us ♥
Fantastic!!! What a great Idea. I'll share it with my playgroup.

Using the cap to lock it closed is brilliant.
I already made 2, and for one I used duct tape to strengthen it and it looks cooler!
This is the perfect use of my engineering degree
Wow ! So original 😮
+1 sub from France 🇫🇷 😄
Love this idea but you can get the Ultra Pro 60-card knock-offs for around $1 each if you buy them in bulk (20+).
All those money spend on boxes.... where have this video been my whole life?
Dude, you're a hero. LOVE IT!
honestly, this is one I will do a bunch! Love it! Thanks for the nice tutorial :D

Ty for a good laugh
I literally just finished a pack of the exact same drink! Now I got to make one! Skål!
Don’t know if you speak German (your name certainly is): love this project! Einfach wunderbar
Nein, but danke! Greetings from Sweden
this was really functional and good for the environment!
Tack! Nu kan jag bygga egna boxar för mina framtida Magiclekar, high-five på dig! 🖐️😃
Nöjet är helt på min sida!
This is awesome! Saving to my watch later and I’ll follow it more precisely then.
"NOOO YOU CANT HELD YOUR EXPENSIVE DECK IN THAT" etc etc
gonna try this, nice vid
this is brilliant! i will try something similar like this. i like to recycle things into useful objects.
It's definitely an art attack moment!
cool! now i only need is a deck of cards
The only downside I see is the gap on sides, near the bottom of the milk box. Super neat way to lock it though!
I pulled up to locals with my DIY deck box and got laughed at
Instructions unclear, living in milk carton under bridge
I like your idea. I make my own boxes too. You need good quality card to make a good box.
Really cool idea, and allows for further customization!
this is actually pretty dope.
Extremely cool, using something that would otherwise go to the wastebin.
Den blir ju fin! Jag borde prova med Norrmejeriers mellanmjölk, för de röda lekarna går snabbare
Really cool idea man, Koodos
Thanks so much for this great project.
Great work! Somebody from Brazil had made a similar video based ob yours! 😉
Can you link it?
Very creative. Unfortunately, it takes a lot of work. Lol. I'll just keep buying the industrialized ones. 🤣
This is gnarly man 👍👍
Amazing idea....i'm thinking in doing some, with some thin foam inside for better protection.
On quick question, does it hold EDH Decks?

Has someone tried to paint it? If yes, what type of paint did u used?
Cheers from Portugal
10 bucks on a glue gun is cheaper than all I've spent on boxes 😂, I should have watched that vid 4 years earlier

Sorry i cant make it to game night tonight, i havent finished my juice.
What size is your carton there? I think it's a half-gallon, but I can't tell.
1 liter, no freedom units here
Very clever, thanks for making this video.👍
Any double sleeve versions?
If you manage to find a milk/juice carton of a different dimension (like the one I use in part 2 of this series) they will easily fit a DS pioneer deck (even with yorion as companion lol)
love your idea. really effective. Thanks mate
great Idea! me I just use the cardboard from precons and stuff then armor coat them with clear tape :D
Think you from france I will use this for all of my Decks
How do you clean it from milk leftovers?
good ol elbow grease, soap and water
Delicious in an creative way😅
I sometimes do a deck box from booster box :D
ty so much
😮❤ a+ for effort. Now here's my 5 bucks and half hour back.
my pauper decks will love me!!! thanks!
This is better than the Kakapopo milk carton
That is a lovely idea
gotta put my tenpai and yubel in these 🔥
9:55 I think you'll find this is an oat milk carton. Not a sheep
Haha, älskar tröjan förresten!
Awesome I really wanted a way to make my hundred or even thousand dollar cards smell like rotten milk permanently!
Love the creativity, but the glue gun costs more than a deck box
Imma do this but with boxed wine
This is SO AWFUL it's great!! Can't imagine the reactions to someone bringing this to a table.. haha, the quiet looks.
Kul idé, ska absolut prova! :D
*start using glue gun*
