  • To use liquid foundation for a natural makeup look, all you need to do is prepare your skin well before the application and not use too much liquid foundation. Also, using a foundation brush for the application will make the affair mess-free and can even help you achieve an even base all over.
    Tools you will need:
    - A moisturiser
    - A primer (optional)
    - Liquid foundation
    - A foundation brush
    Step 1: Applying a Good Moisturiser
    Use your fingers for application and blend it into the skin.
    Applying a moisturizer that is suitable for your skin needs will help you achieve a good start before applying the foundation. It will also help reduce the appearance of dry skin and add a bit of glow to the look. It will, moreover, give you a better slip.
    Step 2: Applying Primer (Optional)
    Use a bit on your fingers and blend it evenly over the face, or just apply it on the T-zone.
    Some primers can help you achieve a smoother skin texture and others will help you control the oil if you get shiny during the day.
    Step 3: Applying Liquid Foundation Properly for a Natural Look
    Now, I am going to show you how to apply liquid foundation perfectly using a brush for a natural finish.
    Take only one pump of liquid foundation on a mixing palette or the back of your hand. Now, use a clean foundation brush and dig into the liquid foundation.
    Make sure that the foundation shade matches your skin tone; you’ll know the correct shade by applying a bit to your neck and jawline and blending it into the skin. If the foundation disappears and melts into your skin tone, it’s the correct shade.
    Start off by applying a bit onto your cheeks; then continue on the forehead and chin, and a bit on the nose. Gradually, blend the foundation into the skin using circular motions.

      I achieve the best finish with a brush, as used in the video. Specifically, I recommend the Zoeva Buffer Brush. Alternatively, you can try using a damp makeup sponge, such as a beauty blender. :)

      For skincare, have a look at a Niacinamide and/or Retinol (lowest strength) product :)
      For makeup, you may want to have a look at a pore minimising or smoothing primer. Like the one from the Ordinary, Spreadability Fluid Primer

      Hey :)
      Well, how would I set up this video since it isn't easy to just say what shade you have to pick if you can not try it🙈 You either have to try it in a store or online where you can get samples or send the foundation back if it isn't the right shade. That's what I do myself :)
      The foundation shade should match your skin tone as close as possible, and if you like to use a foundation + powder (which is tinted) in the same routine. Use them in the same shade, or the powder or foundation shade a bit lighter, but this also depends on the coverage you want to get since this can influence the shade-appearance with the rest of your body :)

    I attempted applying foundation like this on my mother, but omg it does not work well. I ended up stippling the foundation in areas with the flat brush and then blending them in with a damp sponge. The sponge was the tool that made the most difference. I guess if the skin has a lot of texture, its better not to do this buffing technique. On me it doesn't work well either because I have a lot of texture from acne. It must be for people with smooth, exfoliated skin.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      May I ask what products and tools you've used and especially, how much did you use? As I've done serval makeups on mature skin and I've always used brushes to apply the makeup especially the base like foundation and I've never had any issues...🤔

    • @tedoymisojos

      @@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I used the same foundation: Revlon Candid. I used a flat brush from Makeup Geek. with the brush I can see the product on the skin, and it catches on areas with flaky skin. When I used the sponge it looked seamless and undetectable. @@tedoymisojos The Revlon Candid foundation is a bit more drying (which is why I don't need to set it) but for mature skin, I would choose a moisturizing/dewy foundation that does not grab to those areas or really just go with a BB/CC cream or tinted moisturizer😊

      So how do you apply it

  • @emanuelschembari7192
    @emanuelschembari7192 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What kind of a makeup artist are you. You should never dip foundation brush directly into foundation. You should don’t foundation all over your face with finger then buff in with a high quality foundation brush. Brushes do not absorb foundation do you are using to much product.

    • @MelissaVanDijkOfficial
      @MelissaVanDijkOfficial  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you are cleaning your brush or only using it for yourself, there is no issue. But also it is widespread in the industry to not do it, since most of the time you have not much time, and you do not care much about it.
      Application methods vary, and it does not matter what technique you are using as long as it gives you the results you want.
      Also, most brushes are manufactured in the same factory, so you can get an affordable brush that has the same quality as the more expensive one.
      And lastly, the bristles do not absorb the foundation, but the product sits around them, and therefore, it "absorbs" the product, and because of the liquidish texture, a lot of product will be lost.
