@@AC-wl7ve Doesn't Wesley have a nitty image though?? Given the line he's taken after 4 betting pre flop AA or KK would not be unreasonable at all. Scary call with QQ
Tom Dwan is an animal, and the fact so many people kind of write him off as old school and no longer one of the best cash poker players is so confusing. This guy puts himself in some of the most awkward spots imaginable, and consistently navigates them safely. I can't say he always makes the correct, consistent game theory optimal play (i'm very new to that, so to analyze positions there are smarter people than me), but he makes the right play more than he makes the wrong one, especially in the largest pots.
noone can make consistent GTO play. Let alone in a TV show where you play half of your hands or look like a complete nit. Plus when you are playing for $millions it can get to you really, unless you are a robot. Don't make the mistake thinking these live games are played by GTO robots even if they are some of the best. There is still a lot of psychology in poker.
you're not a poker expert in any stretch of the imagination nor qualified to speak as such yet that doesn't stop you from just yapping as though you think you're brliiant.

Nike Air Ball finally shut up during a big hand that he's not involved in, and Wesley.. you should have known of the legend of Tom Dwan. Wrong guy to bluff multiple times at these stakes. When Tom verified with Lauren that he said "all- in" and Wesley put his head down, you could see Wesley's soul leaving his body 😆

The biggest mistake Wes made was showing Doug his hand because after that he was trying to impress Doug by showing him how "good" of a player he is by constantly firing and then going all in. He was hoping and praying that his all-in at the end would make Dwan fold so he could jump up and yell and say his stupid line about being an artist.
Tom had an edge with the information, whatever it was. I thought Wesley's hand seemed good with Doug's reaction. Tom thought Doug was talking Wes out of re-raising with a bad hand. Wes was wearing the Bleff shirt...

yeah he is basically repping aces or kings - its so deep stacks that you cant really just assume he is bluffing a paired flop like this - he knew Dwan had QQ or lower and its really hard to call with QQ, impossible to call with anything lower - Its actually a good bluff. He could only have 10/10, JJ, QQ, KK, AA. and most people would fold 3 out of these 5 combinations.
Its one thing to watch someone like Dwan play, but to truly understand and appreciate the level they are on - find some video where they breakdown a hand they had played and they go into detail about their thought processes etc.. Its pretty amazing.

@@svandehurk , I have. It was for a lot of money and Dwan wanted to take his time with the decision because his hand wasn’t the nuts. He was always mostly calling. Probably looking for a tell from Doug.
Impressed by both of them honestly. To bluff that much money with nothing, especially against a guy like Tom he must have ice in his veins. And then Tom with the correct call, very impressive.
Polk saw We's hand, and still looked at his own cards afterwards. So he figured there was a chance he still would have called. Kudos to Polk for saying he saw Wes's cards, but they both gave up information to the table. The one thing I love in all the "analysis" of the hand is people leaving out the possibility that Wes had QQ. I can't count the number of times I've seen K's and Q's go up against each other and one player winds up folding because he assumes the other has the bullets. You also can't 100% rule out from the pre-flop play that Wes didn't have 88. All of you have seen guys try to take down a big pot pre flop with a semi-bluff like that. Dwan called off the value of a house that Wes didn't have A's or K's or 8's.
Tom Dwan, no surprise, what a call! I’m sure he has played bigger pots, but not televised. For him it is just another day, but that really felt special for him. Not so long ago, Patrick won the biggest televised pot, now Dwan reclaimed that moment. Poker hand pots are getting bigger and bigger and that is exciting. I like watching the backstage moments after this insane poker moment. Dwan hugging Wesley, champagne toast, very nice from Hustler casino.
50k+ Watching, Tom Dwan scooping the largest in Poker History, and a Crypto Whale getting destroyed while flexing a $3 Milly Stack and nitting it up. A good day for poker.
Why the poker rookie brought $3m instead of buying in for the minimal to the table against the toughest pros like Tom and Rob Yong. He's putting all that at risk when he absolutely did not have to do that. It's plain foolish.
Trembling hands and burying his face said a lot during this hand. Dwans expressions during each call was also telling it all added up to a crying call FTW

A+ by Doug to ask the table to be quiet on the flop. Crazy that Tuch commentated on the Ivey Dwan hand from way back and then commentates on the biggest hand also including Durr all these years later.
Some pretty big live tells by Wesly. I dont ever put much stock into live reads, but I think Dwan actually had the read on Wesly. He looked incredibly uncomfortable on turn and it looked like he was gonna collapse after his river bluff.
100% agreed. Dwan was taking his time, analyzing wes. It was actually really incredible to watch. He was baiting him with chip movements. Wes looked so sick. Then hide his face. It was all tells the whole time.
@OVR XPOSD yeah for sure. 100% kudos for being able to bluff 1.6 milly, he deserved the standing ovation that he got. But making the correct computer play is not ever going to work if you can't manage the human/emotional side of playing. Like the computer can bluff shove 15000Bb and be 100% indifferent. A human cannot bluff shove 1500bb/1.6 milly and be indifferent. He is going to feel the pressure of the situation
Good to see the table give the players involved the respect of sitting silently and letting the hand play out. Nowadays you tend to see side conversations and laughing non-stop in middle of huge hands
I think it’s entirely plausible that Wesley could have AA or KKs in this spot with his raise pre-flop and Doug’s initial reaction. Love Dwan’s call on the River.
It was the bet on the flop that didn't make sense,if Wesley had aces he would check the flop aswel to draw a bet from Tom on the turn.some call by Tom with the queen's though because a bet with Kings on the flop would have made sense on such a dry board
Not really. Doug wouldn't have tried to get him not to 3bet AA or KK. That's why Tom thought 87 or 97.. AA, KK wasn't in his range after dougs reaction.
@kory6897, that’s right. Also, suited connectors came out of his range on his 5bet. I think when Tom said about trips, he was just being nice before the call.
If you leave Doug’s reaction out it’s a simple 3 barrel. Most of the time that’s the classic out bluffer move crowned by the all in at the river. With AA you try to extract the most you can and protect your hand. So you leave the betting to the opponent and react to it.
its hard its because you see it as 800k river bet. when they go into flop 500k on the flop and he left 1.3mil spr less then 3 . you still fold . if you dont think of it as real cash , you think of it as chip , just pure chip for strategy game , you wil know which direction to go for easy call easy fold or easy bluff
I called qqs, pretty obvious actually considering action, durrrr 4 bet preflop and when Wesley 5 bet, Dwan just called. Plus Wesley bucks aces and kings...
Legit the most and longest I've ever seen Tom agonize over a decision, and he made the right one.. just insane, stuff like this is exactly why he's one of my favorite, if not my favorite player ever. Could you imagine being Wesley while Durr was in the tank.. goodlord.
The fact that Doug had to check his hand to fold implies that Wesley didn't have AA, and possibly not KK, but let's assume only AA. The gravity of Doug's statement, 'I saw your cards,' rather than a casual warning like 'Be careful, dude,' suggests that Wesley held a strong hand, ruling out something like A8. The all-in move on the river couldn't have been with KK since running into AA is a risk. Therefore, the only plausible hand for Wesley is an AK bluff. I believe Tom had all the necessary information to make the not-so-difficult call; Doug essentially spoiled the hand by speaking.
That's one way to look at it. I think this hand wouldn't have happened if Doug didn't see the cards. Wesley was trying to show off, or prove himself to Doug. Once Doug saw his cards the ego was going all the way.
Sick play and crazy call, pretty sure Tom picked up a few reads. But like Wesley said it's hard to trust them facing a 800bb shove on the river. Amazing call!
Players usually do not expose their big hands such as AA or KK pre flop. That is why Tom ruled out those hands and mentioned that Wes could have 87s or 89s. It was a huge tell and Wes should not have gone for it especially after exposing his hand.
I have watched this so many times knowing the out come and witnessing how Dwan stays completely in control while Wesley squirms in his chair is incredible. Should be on his tombstone "I tried to bluff Tom Dwan"

I'm sure Tom has taken his fair share of bad beats. But that man runs so pure in the biggest pots in high stakes games.

The Legend of Tom Dwan continues...
I know everyone hates Airball for some reason but he’s clearly a great friend. The first thing he did after realizing how big the pot was was ask Wes if he’s okay. Then he told Wes to take a break and get some air. Good to see this side of him.
After losing $1 million to Berkey he knows the feeling
I hate him for multiple reasons, calling himself Airball is probably number 1
@@DennisNedryisStillAlive I think he also lost close to $1 million on this stream as well.
I won’t argue with you on whether Airball is a great friend or not, but the last thing I’d want to hear after losing $1.55 million bluffing is if I’m “okay” while the chips are being sent away. Felt like a dagger tbh. 🤣🤣🤣
You’re right about Airball and others telling him to cool off though. It may have done Wes some good seeing as he came back to win the second biggest pot of the night and second biggest in televised poker history.
I wouldnt like being asked if i'm ok after this. i think it's clear noone is ok after this. to take a break, yeah, thats nice.
Dwan just absolutely cold-blooded putting $1.5 million in the middle. Legend. Props to Wesley too
The best part is he figured wes had some bullshit like a low suited hand so rather than 5 bet him he just let him hang himself on 3 streets. He also could have raised flop or turn to deny equity to any bullshit Wes could have run into, but he just let Wes bury himself. What an absolute legend.
4:50 Doug telling everyone to shut up because of the size of the pot and everyone respected. Small things very appreciated. Well done HCL for The show and the crew
As a spectator I am sick to my stomach for both players during the hand! What an amazing live stream to witness. Durrrr!!!!!

Not equivalent to lottery cuz lottery only cost a dollar or so
Gotta respect Wesley so much for not giving up and really putting pressure on dwan to make that call
Tom Dwan is the wrong guy to try to bluff.
So much to appreciate here... Doug having the class to admit seeing the hand, trying his best to give ZERO information to Dwan. Tom talking it through... And the HUGE CAJONES on Wesley! So cool to have it filmed for posterity.
Cojones. Cajones means drawers but I guess he needs big drawers to fit those big cojones. 😉
The genius of Tom Dwan! I love his heart, fearless nature and poker brain! World-class commentary during the hand!

Post interview wes said he thought he'd look like he was less likely to be bluffing after exposing his cards. Either balls of steel by both players
@@quinnmiller3852 Yeah... Wes wanted to bump up his hand image from AK to KK or AA, apparently. Bad acting, though, right? Acting all openly giddy doesn't convey AA.
I don't think he was trying to impress Doug... I think he was showing Doug his hand in order to make it seem like he had a very nutted hand (AA or KK) to everyone else still in the hand. Didn't work out well for him

If a King or Ace hit on the river, it would have been great for Wesley, but then I think Dwan wouldn't have called.
He showed he's got balls but Dwan playing that hand the way he did really felt like JJ , QQ or KK
@@EkinghFightNews i think he calls instead of 6 betting aces as well. Would be too face up.
yeah he is basically repping aces or kings - its so deep stacks that you cant really just assume he is bluffing a paired flop like this - he knew Dwan had QQ or lower and its really hard to call with QQ, impossible to call with anything lower - Its actually a good bluff.
If you pay attention, you'll see that Dwan's eyes are on every little movement that is happening at the table. Not just in this hand, but in every hand. Dude was zoned in and playing low variance poker.

I love when the table goes quiet. So much tension!
Dont think people realize how hard that call is.
its hard its because you see it as 800k river bet. when they go into flop 500k on the flop and he left 1.3mil spr less then 3 . you still fold . if you dont think of it as real cash , you think of it as chip , just pure chip for strategy game , you wil know which direction to go for easy call easy fold or easy bluff

When Ryan finishes his speech while that epic outro music starts up i get the chills. Epic stuff
After Tom called one of Wesley's bets he slouches back in his chair disappointed, such a tell
Players usually do not expose their big hands such as AA or KK pre flop. That is why Tom ruled out those hands and mentioned that Wes could have 87s or 89s. It was a huge tell and Wes should not have gone for it especially after exposing his hand.
