Like him or hate him, to me Wesley is the Most Valuable Player in the MDG. 1- Highest buy in of 3mil. 2- Biggest drama; What's your mom's name? 3- Lost the biggest pot in live stream history of 3.1mil. 4- Won the 2nd biggest pot of 2.2mil in live stream history. Yes, he is just a reg but brave to play with pro even though I feel he is not a ready product, he improved a lot in my humble opinion. Wesley created 4 records in 2 days of the MDG.
Let me elaborate further. Highest live viewership was 41k on day 1 then fell, usual after peaking and if nothing special happen it doesn't make new high. Day 2 viewership peak mid-30k, fell and never pick up. Day 3 viewership reached high of mid-30k and fell back to around 29/30k, viewership regain momentum when the drama heated up, rise to 32/33k then 36/37 k and eventually make new high of 47k peaked, without the best punched "what's your mom's name" drama the show would have just be like day 1 and 2 peaked without making new high. Day 4 is a continuation of day 3 momentum and of course Tom and Doug addition too draw viewership and in addition to the many big pot especially when Wesley was involved with 2 biggest pot in the history of live stream new high in viewership were registered around 57/58k in day 4. JRB, Rob Yong, Tong G and others played and they drew crowds too, I like those players but Wesley was involved in moments that not only drive viewership but make new high, of course this is just my opinion.
It's ironic that Wes lost to Tom in the biggest hand in televised history against QQ and he was trying to rep trips and in this second highest hand in televised history, he is up against QQ again, but this time he actually has trips. These scripts just write themselves. Wow did Wes get lucky af.
5-bet A7s is definitely mixing it up and it’s awesome to watch. Gotta say, I’m a huge fan of him taking the same line as when he ran the bluff w AK. The two are almost indistinguishable and one time he had the effective nuts and the other he had absolute air. Dope balancing.

On the turn I'm out when Wes puts his head down between his arms like he did earlier against durrrrr No way he'd do the same thing and not have it this time
What is truly beautiful about this hand is that after the Ace king hand versus Tom Dwayne Wesley replied I would have played the same way had I had Ace Ace or king king and here he is taking the exact same line with a monster hand showing that truly he would play it as a bluff and with a huge hand the same way what a legend what an artist
Can someone explain what wesley said in chinese at the end that airball was explaining? Also wondering who it was that told wes to sit down out of curiousity
13:00 Not exactly the same line, there's a tell, the turn bet was almost pot while against Dwan, the turn bet was 1/3 of the pot. Bet sizings are a tell, if Hank was focused on the game, he would picked it up.
What do you think about Wesley's turn bet size? Sets him up for 50% river? I think large turn looks bluffy because looks like wanting a fold? and could be flush draw, AK again? but he also risks the fold when he is ahead 98% Would a 220k turn bet be better? It is easier to call with QQ but risk is it looks like it wants a call...but even so who could fold? QQ might even raise. If A K or diamond come on river, it can result in a fold from Hank, meaning a lot of lost value on river. Considering all this, is big bet actually better? If Hank folded, it would have been a disaster. Based on recently played AK hand, possible image of tilt, possible scare cards on river, is big turn bet best? He certainly turned QQ into a bluff catcher.
That's why Wes and Dwan are so difficult to play against. They can sense the slightest bit of weakness and then are prepared to put it all on the line. They equally will either have the hand or pure air.
really impressed with wesley. just a few months ago he was innocently table talking garett when hes new and now hes pulling off big pot plays. Might not be most skilled player at the table but this guy got heart.
4:57 something about how quick this dealer cuts out 3 and a quarter.. imagine calling in sick and they run this game lol.. dealing is such an underappreciated aspect of the game we love..
Long analysis alert. Here's what I see different between this and the Durr hand. 1-In Durr’s, they were playing the standup. The initial raiser LSG Hank didn’t yet have a button and opened. Wes 3 bet, which could’ve been lite because he knew Hank didn’t have a button. Durr could’ve been 4-betting lite because he knew this about Wes, and then Wes could’ve 5-bet lite for the same reason. In short, there are a few more bluffs in that hand than in this. 2-The bet sizing was bluffy. On the flop, Wes bet 125k into 562,000 - 22%. If he really had AA (which is what he was repping on the river), being it's a 5 bet pot, he should be targeting a lot of QQ and KK because that's where most of his money is at. He likely would've bet more. The turn was a bet of 350 into 800. It makes more sense, but maybe still a bit small if he's targeting KK or QQ. River was a jam after the 6 came. 3-Durr seemed to believe the rivered 6 should’ve given Wes pause. Durr commented after the hand that the speed of the bet was a timing tell and played a role in his calling because he expected that Wes would've taken time after seeing the river 6 before putting it in. I'm not sure that’s true after seeing what Wes did when the third diamond came in on this River, and that’s what Doug meant with his comment to Durr after the hand here. It's not entirely the same though, because of the stand up game factor and because here, the bets were small enough that 7/9 could've, in some small instances have stayed. Also, Durr wasn't trying to be right. He was only trying to be correct more than 25% of the time. This hand had some differences. The Flop bet was 80 into 267, a bit less than 1/3, which makes more sense. When he got called, he made the turn even higher at 325 into 427 3/4, which would make sense if he has AA targeting QQ or KK or if he somehow has that 7 or 10, 10. The river was set up to be jammed. Even the diamond didn't mean much because AKd would’ve likely not continued on the flop, especially with those bet sizes. (
If Hank threw in a 6-bet pre flop, he probably takes it down there. Maybe 300k… If not there then a check-raise on the flop would’ve made it hard for Wesley to see the turn. I guess he was afraid of Aces or Kings…
The issue I have is the celebration is what’s annoying.. literally not a good player whatsoever.. getting lucky is not a skill.. also having endless money is the other issue.. he doesn’t have to worry as much.. and to think he could converse about this with Doug is even worse..
There is no way I could get away from the Queens in this situation. A 7 would not be what I guessed he had. That is why I would never be in this situation.
Bob Marley said “ some people are so poor all they have is money.” This applies to Wesley for certain. I don’t care how well he plays poker or not. And when Hank said “ can Wesley do it again, 3 barrel bluff, impossible” He told himself the play was to fold but he went against his first instinct.
He went a bit overboard with the head down in arms bit, after he'd allready done it against Tom.... a decent player would have guesses he had it then (unless he does that very often ? )
Wesley’s bet sizing was off in this hand and the dwan hand. He should have bet $175k on the turn to set up a pot sized river jam. Now he’s gives the opponent 3-1 odds just like he did with dwan. If he has pot sized left vs. dwan, Dwan may have folded
Wesley is the kind of guy that is just going to lose it all. Sure, he won this pot here but at this rate, I have a feeling it's the beginning of an end for Wesley. A very sloppy artist there.
