    It's like u can read my mind. I was just contemplating leaving my job today for the VERY SAME reasons you spelled out when you worked as an Accounting Manager at the organic baby place. Between feeling uncomfortable, hearing terms and doing things for the first time. Went from Project Manager (glorified biller) to Assistant Controller and I just have anxiety basically going to work now and I've only been there for a little over a month now.

      It's probably just temporary. Maybe stick through the pain and it will accelerate your career. Good luck brother!

    I really really appreciate your effort sharing these tips. The one thing I like the most is that all your narrative is based on a "go for it" approach, you make me feel very motivated because right now I am searching the next level and to be honest, I´m a little scared. Again, watching you talking about not knowing everything and still going for it is a clear signal for me right now... Thank you!

      Thanks Brother! Yeah, go for it and work hard. It will pay off!

    I agree. You have to stretch your career. Taking on these roles allows you to push your critical thinking skills, learning from your failures and getting uncomfortable. I've recently made a jump from Chief Accountant to Financial Controller...which is in essence the CFO because I'm the head of the department. I've brought my skills over and I love rhe challenge.
    Also what is key...you have to be able to know how to lead the team.
    Bear in mind, I had to make sure that the company was the right fit for me. The out going FC was trash, so immediately anything I implemented was a major upgrade.
    Take your time, dont chase money...ensure that the company fits you.

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Well said! and yes agree to not chase money (it will follow) and focus on pushing your limits on learning.

    I know this video is supposed to be about a vertical career move but I find this advice quite reassuring as someone who's trying to transition from accounting to finance in banks. I haven't done it ever before but I do have the academic knowledge and it all depends on how I present myself.

    Thank you for all your content! A lot of your older videos are the reason for me excelling in a role I thought would take me MUCH longer to get a hang of (Accounting Consultant). It took me a few weeks to get a good grasp at the position because you made the concepts super easy to understand. All that to say thank you! I appreciate what you’re doing for people out there like me.

    Very practical advice on career development! Really liked that you touched Cons and personality, easy to be ignored. It's not like typical " You can do it" video.
    I strongly agree the point that you learn from failures more. Appreciated the inspiring content from Korea!😊

    Acoounting major here, spent 2 years as a staff accountant right of college (start of great recession) and made the mistake of taking operation manager roles the next 10 years… planning on making a move back into accounting, your videos are helping in planning out the next steps.. thank you!

    Excellent advice as usual. I went from a Senior accountant position to financial controller (NPO) after a year and a half I feel much more comfortable as it was my first experience leading the entire accounting department as well as being the right hand of the CEO for financial strategic decisions. This opens the door to so much more like becoming a Director of Finance and a CFO eventually in the future with salary prospects. If you are scared take the risk it is well worth it. Cheers

      Can you find any similarities with respect to skills and salary for senior accountant and financial controller. I think financial controller is paid more than a VP of accounting. Am I right?

    • @johne.6547
      @johne.6547 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@PremKumar-ky2ed i would say it depends on the size of the company. For my case I have the title of controller but i am definitely acting as a CFO since im doing presentations to the CEO, board and audit comitee. Also again the pay will vary alot depending on your task but controller are usually well pay in the 6 figures and more.

    Hi! Your advice is gold! I have a biology degree but have been in accounting field for 20 years. I’m finally trying to make a leap to senior accountant role from billing accountant. I always feel that by not having an accounting degree was holding me back. I applied to so many accountant roles and finally got an interview. So glad I came across your channel. You have helped me get prepared for my upcoming job interview. Thank you so much!

    I've had 12 years worth of 3 public and 10 years private in various industry. I do not have my cpa, unfortunately although i passed FAR & BEC, I didn't pass audit while working and studying and gave up.
    but I keep being in just a managerial position instead of a director position. Thoughts on what I need to do or work on to achieve that? Pre-covid I was going to get promoted to director or accounting but covid occurred and ended up getting furloughed.

    Just wanna ask (outside US) im done with public accounting (in my mind of course) im struggling deciding which one to take accountant II in government or Internal Audit Officer in Financing/bank. What make sense more accounting then go to auditing again or just go for the audit right from the start?

    Would you consider a good move: starting a side certification that will support you on the new role (not demanding like CPA but 20-30 hours course), or shall you work with online Chat gpt until you get comfortable for the first 6 months?

    • @TheFinancialController
      @TheFinancialController  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No strong opinion on this one. Both sound like good options to support you in a new role. But a certification can prove slightly more valuable
