Yes and delete the clutch delay valve. I have a video on that too. Helps a lot

Same here. Got the first to second issue on my E90. It shifts ok, but not like it did in the beginning when I got the car.

I appreciate a DIY guy doing this how most of us would do it, with car barely 2 feet off the ground. You went through three of those bottles to refill it though...which is good to know.

Bro putting ATF oil in a manual is madness. They should be using heavy gear oil for manuals. Let us know if your manual transmission ended up lasting on ATF.

What were the issues you were having with 1st to 2nd? I’m currently having a hard time getting it into 1 when In traffic. I will have to center the knob and retry or try the clutch again. I’ve ground 2nd a few times because it didn’t go in all the way. Forgot to mention it won’t want to leave 1st gear without a harder than usual pull on the lever.

ATF OIl is for automatic transmissions. I would rather use the Bmw MTF-LT-3 which is the only one BMW allows to use. It is 75W90.

This is not true. It depends on what was specified for the tranny and which generation. For older BMW's (e.g. E36 M3's and M Coupes and M Roadster), the first years through 11/97 BMW specified ATF with a sticker and the trannies even had an "ATF" sticker on the side of the tranny. Later years specified "MTF" as BMW moved to a more universal lifetime fluid, but that was a huge mistake that destroyed the teflon linings of the shift pins inside the manual ZF transmissions. Look up the shift pin repairs for this ZF generation. In the end, I just typed the ZF transmission code on the ZF Website, the manufacturer, and it recommend ZF Lifeguard 5 ATF for the manual transmission. How about that. Booyah!

Why on earth would you put ATF in a manual gearbox. Far better to use the correct oil. Hell, just use Pepsi or coke if someone on TH-cam recommends it!! 😂😂

A lot of ATFs are actually rated for MTF too.
If you go on redline website select Manual Transmission Fluids the D4 and D6 fluids will be there with the MT and MTL fluids.
Redline and Motul(which also recommend their ATF for MTs) are arguably some of if not the best oil company's out there. I am sure the teams of engineers and scientists that they have know if a fluid is safe or good for a manual transmission. ECStuning also recommend ATF in their Service Kits for manual transmissions.

What are the best fluids to use for the 6mt? I have a 2011 328i, manual and rwd. I know you recommend the d6 atf but I’m looking for alternatives. If anyone has suggestions please let me know

BMW LT-3 is more for smooth cold shifts and fuel efficiency. Although it is synthetic, its relatively low hot viscosity may not be great for tracking or Texas heat.
Many have tried Amsoil MTF and Royal Purple Synchromax but there are some instances where the notchiness or grinding returns after a few months.
I would prefer the MT-LV over the D4/D6 since ATF additives tend to have more friction modifiers that could increase bearing wear.
Also, consider Motul’s Motylgear 75W80 (not 75W90, unless mostly track use). It’s very high quality oil and potentially slightly better than Red Line and cheaper also. It’s currently $13/qt @ Summit Racing.
