    I was pretty surprised that the grade boundaries compared to last year for this exam were quite high! Between an grade 5 and 6 it was like 12 marks.

    1. Delete could and substitute should. But don't waste hours lòoking for something that isn't there!
    2. Structural features involve perspective and therefore dialogue, and repetition, parallel syntax etc
    3. Watch out for ALL your punctuation. It's important.
    4. Paper 2 q1 look for inference. Don't just scan. They ARE trying to catch you out otherwise they would have selected a simpler text. This is GCSE not SATS.
    5.Q4 has to be very detailed. It's not just asking about language, structure, choice if Lexus or devices. It's asking for ALL of these AND an evaluation
    Do Q4 FIRST. Assume you're going to write at least 4 sides on it

    I’m one of those people who wrote nothing for P2Q4. Happy to be acknowledged, Mr Bruff! 👋🏽
    I’m terrible at language papers and I spent too much time on Q2 and Q3 that I had to skip ahead to Q5. 🙄

      Use linguistic devices like if ur gonna talk about similies state :"The writer utilises a simile in the quote ..."(it may be obvious but some people forget to identify the language technique.Also try to embed quotes that are present in the extract as a way of analysing.When doing the structure questions remember to talk about pace ,narrative and shift in focus because those are some really good structural features that are normally in the text.Hope that helps.😊

    • @osaru7506
      @osaru7506 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Also when it comes to the final question try to stray away from writing as a teenager taking an exam. If you're writing as a reporter write as a reporter. Also remember that the main objective is to persuade so use everything at your disposal to make your points stand out such as facts, metaphors, emotive language, alliteration, made-up personal stories or made up statistics

    • @najm6600
      @najm6600 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@osaru7506 yes i agree! Also if you have a descriptive question avoid being the typical object everyone chooses to write about ie. the person in the picture. It is always clever and distinct to pretend to be a voice of something ie. an object. Hope that helps too.

    Hi Mr Bruff, when given a statement in Q4 of Language paper 1 which states "the writer really brings the scene to life for the reader", how exactly can you go about answering it? This is a really vague statement, so it is not really straightforward.
