- In this video I'm going to explain all champion variants of monsters in The Binding of Isaac Repentance. Bear in mind this video will cover only regular monsters, while the boss variants will be covered in a future video. I also included a few new champion ideas in the end of the video that I modded in and I feel fit perfectly in the game's design.

Make the creepy white one have a ridiculously low chance to appear, not move at all and have infinite health
Then make it so after 60 seconds it will run ridiculously fast at Isaac and crash the game on contact
Also that save file will place you inside the delirium boss when loaded
And, hear me out, the only items you have when loading the save file are dogma, and any item related to balls (can't think of one rn)
Super balanced, definitely not a mess to code, extra waCkY AnD fUnNi and perfectly Edmund approved.

I wanna challange ultra creepy white, all enemy spawns bloat, every killed bloat grants random +1 stat
Gives me an idea, Thats what Champion belt should do,
Not a straigth +Damage,
But a stat up when killing champions
You should try the bloat mode mod
What if every killed bloat spawns a new bloat, and they eyeballs spawn a new bloat as well

Also I have literally never seen the transparent white champion in my 1000 hours of play since rebirth, or the pulsating one

Some of them are much rarer than others, you'll see them more often in the Void though. Transparent white I've only seen once or twice, pulsating one never.
Same here, I had like 600 hours in AB+ and NEVER saw any pulsating ones. It's like that blue fatty that only used to spawn on the chest that many people dont even know they exist

Your custom champions are so cool. You should make a mod that integrates them, and have the bloat champion have like a 0.01 percent chance to spawn

To be fair, the brown and rainbow one are just added in repentance. Other than that, yeah, never seen some of these
I think Ed would agree that the creepy white champions fit perfectly in the game. Maybe even add them to the first floor?
Please make your bonus champions a mod, except for the creepy white one, I really love the bonus champions and I want them in the game 🙏.
no. creepy white will exist and it will be 10x more common than light blue champions which is the most common champion in the entire game

I love how you normally rely on muscle memory to remember what all the champions do, but now there's finally a way to check (that isn't the text-based wiki).
totally, in game i'm instantly thinking "might drop x resource, does x on death" but seeing them outside of gameplay no clue

Over 1K hours in Isaac and I've legitimately never seen like, half of these, at least, during gameplay. What the hell.
Yeah me neither, i thought something was wrong with my game or something or hadn't unlocked it yet
Over 300 hours with 1,000,000% and same. I legit haven't seen more than half of these, ever.
A lot of them only spawn on later floors like sheol and stuff. A combination of your high dps there and the fact that the rooms are mostly full of bosses and enemies that can't be champions means that they are very rare, and the ones you do see might be killed before you notice.
I only found the rainbow champions like 4 times since the dlc came out.

Replace bloat with "a random boss from the current floor" and it'll be fine. Also make it look like delirium

@@Mewseeker To be fair, Ed is pretty unfair and trying too hard to be punishing most time, but the Broken Modem buff is quite enormous
It works extremely well against bullet-hell bosses
Red-White Champion: "Hey, this feels a lot like abortionbirth and whybirth..."
Creepy White: "yep"
I mean the red white one seems pretty easy to deal with and most likely spawns in later floors.

Holy crap, I’ve known that enemy champion values past 23/25 technically work even though they’re unused and they just have the generic double health + full heart damage, but I never knew that new effects could be modded in! I hope someone makes a mod sooner or later that restores the Parasite-tear colored champions from Antibirth that got scrapped for being too similar to pulsing green champions, even though the former is way cooler because the enemies split twice and they shrink with each split.
Sadly, in Repentance most ids past 25 appear as invisible enemies. I made that part of the footage in AB+.

Item idea: Champion's secret (the sprite is a set of multicolored syringes)
Pickup quote: that's a dope item!
Item pool: they have a high weight in the Black market's pool, and can only appear in the shop pool if you never picked up a syringe. Counts for spun!
Effect: Works like the bag of crafting, but it only has three slots for pickups, however out of the three pickups used for the recipe only one is consumed, chosen randomly. What you craft are "doping shots" which you can fire like bob's rotten head after you craft it, if a doping shot hits an enemy, it turns it into the corresponding champion colour.
Another difference is that you can use blue flies and blue spiders as ingredients.
The cool thing is that you can use it on permacharmed enemies too, healing them each time.
Black Market doesn't have its item pool tho
@@witchamy We can change that. I'm thinking about a black market rework.
Anyway the idea is that this item is strong but since it clashes a bit with the overall game design it should appear sparingly, like Plan C, Rock Bottom, Echo Chamber and Redemption.

Little known fact that the Pulsing Red Champions which heals enemies are one of the rarest champions in the game
(and I encountered one)

I'm not sure if it works in Repentance anymore, but whenever I fight a boss that spawns poop(Larry Jr. and others), I make sure to leave the room and come back before destroying the remaining poops so that they have a higher chance of dropping items - same would be done with the brown champions if I ever notice them

The fact that the game has a verity of champion types, plus the addition of adding your own, is astonishing! I'm sure there's probably an item/trinket that has this similar effect, but imagine getting an item/trinket that makes every enemy in the room champions. I look forward to boss champion types; I've seen modders interpret boss champions in interesting ways, but I'm more curious on the game actually pulls them off. There's not much videos that talks about them
Purple Heart and Champion Belt increase the chances for champions to spawn.
My mod even has a custom curse that makes all enemies spawn as champions.

using the da rules mod, i was messing around with being able to make enemies champions that wouldn’t normally be champions and let me just say, magnetic dark esau is terrifying
Lime green should also shoot one tear in each diagonal direction on death, it fits the theme :3

Nope, they can appear in any mode. Some of them are just very rare.
I like your champions, however, I think that the bloat champion should close the door and maaaaaybe turn you into the lost for one room

Imagine one of those super tanky enemies that appear on Basement during the ascension with the champion variation of 3x health
or the crown variant thats like 6x health and it starts buffing the other tanky ones

I think I've seen a grand total of one brown champion since Repentance came out. Only recently did I see my first rainbow champion, now they seem to be spawning pretty regularly.

Note on the light white champions. Enemies with multiple "phases, such as the fatties that can lose their heads then upper torso, will cause an attack fly to spawn for each "phase"
Okay, so after seeing this video the other day, possibly Saturday. On the same day, I encountered the rarest champion varient, the rainbow champion, and it was in Void. What a coincidence.

I love your custom champions! You should refine them more (such as giving them drops) and include them in a mod. Maybe they could be officially added to the game like when mods were added with the last DLC!
Edit: okay maybe not the bloat one, although maybe the creepy white one spawns the bloat but he only has like 1 health so it's more of a gag than anything

For the creepy white champion you should add that when killed spawn bloat purple champion that shoot homing tears and homing brimstone like dogma.
Fun fact: champion gurglings' spritesheet used the rebirth sprites for the transparency edit and not the new repentance sprites.

General opinion. Immune to status effects,
Spawns shower of tears on death - Not too bad.
Homing tears - Bit harder, but again, not too bad.
Bursting tears - Pretty easy.
No knockback - Doesn't make a huge difference.
Explosive tears and spawns mega troll bomb on death - Uhhh.. Okay, sure, not TOO bad but...
Spawns brimstone swirl on death - This is getting out of hand...

Correction. Champions didn't always have contact damage until repentance. I think that was removed in AB+ already.
Also the fast walking champions can't spawn in the first 2(?) floors.

Yep, I know some cannot spawn on some floors, but since I couldn't find a reliable source for this information, I decided not to include it.
I honestly wish the custom Champions at the were in the game, they're well designed and look like a lot of fun to encounter! I even like the Creepy White Champion, if you saw it in-game you would (hopefully) know it'd spawn a Bloat, which would cause you to find a new strategy before taking it on as well as give you the anxiety of "oh shit I know what's gonna happen when I kill that"

I would like to see a Pulsing Green Giant champion where killing in would spawn two pulsing green champions upon death. (and you get a One makes your Larger Horse pill for clearing it. )

I had a run end to a pulsating red worm in the womb, it was a pain in the ass. It was a large room full of the little worm things that chase you, and I couldn’t kill them before they got to me. The having only one health and all 9 lives from dead cat just made it even worse-
