  • In British Columbia, Canada, massive floods and landslides are washing out roads and bridges. Thousands of people have been evacuated, and a few people have even died. Dr. Shabir Ally and Dr. Safiyyah Ally look at why extreme weather events are happening and point to verses from the Quran that emphasize the responsibility human beings have to maintain the balance God has set for all living creatures. They urge Muslims to act decisively to limit climate change and preserve the environment.

Everything is connected. We’re all connected. The Quran explains that so beautifully. Contemplating nature is also an act of worship. Let’s take care of it.

This subject is of paramount importance in Islam and dictates to Muslims how they should live as far as their relation to nature is concerned. There is a gauge of excellence in science to measure the quality of the processes involving energy, it is called Entropy, which is a consequence of the second law of Thermodynamics. Jeremy Rifkin wrote a book on that in the late seventies or early eighties. I strongly recommend you to read it.

Jupiter, Mars, Saturn and other planets are also getting warmer due to the Sun getting warmer. The poles of Jupiter moons are melting for the first time in 4.5 billion years. So it's not us, it's the Sun.

This is great Dr. Shabbir. it truly is just great
I never thought (because of my ignorance) such a comprehensive explanation about the ROLE OF THE HOLY QUR'AN dealing with the CLIMATE CHANGE
I wonder whether there is (are) any other Holy Book that dealt with this particular case

While we as individuals as a collective should take care of our environment, the climate has really almost nothing to do with humans.
Let’s remember the planet has and always changed climates even extremes even if humans are here or not.
Let’s remember earth was once a furnace and earth had and ice age where almost all North America was covered in ice.
We as humans are just spoiled to think this climate is normal when maybe we are entering another ice age, half of human population will perish and we have no control over it.
    It’s the earths natural cycles..
Other than this great job Dr Shibir, I love to listen to you in general and often refer you to others...

I don't think the Qur'an provide an humanistic protective spectrum over nature perhaps it does provide a management spectrum over the natures of the universe ... But protective plan is God alone .

    First!
Just to let you know the Sun is also getting hotter, 30% of climate change comes from the heating of the Sun.

    • @m.islamnafees5770
      @m.islamnafees5770 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It’s true that the sun is getting hotter, but the increase in temperature is not so extreme that you can blame this phenomenon for 30% of climate change! In fact the Sun will get only 6% hotter over the next billion years. We humans are the ones to blame for climate change because we are emitting carbon dioxide that helps trap that heat from the Sun. If we did stuffs sensibly, such an incident would not happen.

Yes, we can fight climate change by being proactive
    Proactive and reactive principle:-
With great power & freedom of free will or freedom & power to choose, comes great responsibility & accountibility of using that freedom & power to choose.
Proactive is more than taking initiative in advance. Proactive people take responsibility & accountibility of their freedom & power to choose, and wisely use their freedom & power to choose.
Proactive people are agent of change and choose not to be reactive, blames or victim.
    ---
Reactive people are dependent & determine by their moods, impulses, condition, emotions, feelings, desire, and passion.
Reactive people play victimism and blame game.
