Budget Cafe Build E32: Custom tank graphics

In this episode we show you how we went about creating custom graphics for the tank on the KZ750 budget cafe racer build series. We walk you through the entire process and have custom vinyl lettering printed.

Really Cool, did not know you where graphical artist as well 😁👍 One question: should you not have sanded the base coat before you put on the sticker and before you add the clear coat? Sanding with 600 grit or finer on the base coat before adding clear coat is normally needed to ensure the clear coat is not peeling off, and you get a much smoother result as well. Sanding is not needed when you put the clear coat wet-on-wet onto the base coat, or if you only wait some hours after the base is put on (it's normally a 24 hours window for that).

Oh, wait a sec ... you have metallic base coat, that is of course not supposed to be sanded, it will ruin the metallic effect 😊I am not sure if the 24 hours window max wait time is applicable when using spray cans, but when using 2K paint I know you cannot wait to long because the clear will after that not make a chemical bond to the base. A lot of tricky details with these paints 😋

lol yeah this is definitely a learning curve for us. So far so good. It’s metallic so no sanding, also I believe the 2k we’re using should be good once the paint is completely cured. But we will be the half-tanked Guinea Pigs 😂 We’ll have to send you something for your new bike, a North American mod 🍻

Really enjoying following your process guys, looking forward to the clear coat. The contrast really sets it off I think. I've already forgot the original colour again, that blue just seems to suit the tank perfectly. 👍👍

Would you be doing any wiring to this bike? I own 2 of the same bike that your working on here and am currently running into the dilemma of wiring.

Hi Robert. We’re going to be doing a little wiring but not a complete harness. We’re going to change the stock reg/rec, install a lithium ion battery, install led turn signals, led brake light and led headlight. We’re also considering a new speedo.
