    Jaune is a character who is forced to go through a lot of growth over this series and if you guys like seeing him improve, just stick with it and you'll get that. It was noted in a previous episode that Ruby has to learn to be a leader while Weiss has to learn to be a teammate - the same is true of Jaune, as he needs to build confidence and capabilities. Jaune and Ruby were selected as leaders because both of them take charge when the situation requires it, but both have flaws that will be tested in a leadership situation... Contrary to what Weiss said, Ozpin didn't make a mistake, as he was putting them in the position they needed to fill in order to maximize their potential.

      Or as simple as they were calling the shots during evaluation. Yall read too far. Remember the show wasnt even planned out at this point so that theory loses all credibility

    • @Dreznin
      @Dreznin ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Shall we examine it?
      - Jaune goes through growth... True
      - Ruby and Weiss had conversations with Ozpin and Port about team roles... True
      - Jaune needs to build confidence and his abilities... not beating into your head directly, but very obvious to see... thus True
      - Jaune and Ruby took charge, but both have character flaws that may make leadership difficult. Well, Jaune lacks confidence and is a weak fighter. Ruby at this point still has the insecurities of being pushed forward two years and even doubts herself as she talks to Ozpin.. so True
      - Ozpin didn't make a mistake... both Port and Ozpin tell the characters this.
      Which leads us to the part that you're probably losing your mind over... the assertation that they were put where they'd get the most growth... Jaune as just a teammate would be less pressured to grow in his capabilities and would potentially just be carried by his teammates, doing everyone a disservice. It's shown that Ruby starts off not being good with people, she is quick to action but not to putting in much thought before acting, even if she is willing to create a battle plan - making her a leader will force her to exercise caution and learn to always consider others in her course of action. These are not theories, it's called extrapolation and it's a part of critical thinking that most people develop by their teenage years, try to use it instead of being toxic within the fandom.

      @@ILikeCHEEZ9 Pretty sure that's disproven, things weren't really planned out before the red trailer. But pretty sure they've said that most of the show was planned fairly early. Even stuff in the late seasons was planned pretty early on.

      @@kobaltreaver I mean, the stuff in V9 was planned from the very beginning (or at least _very_ early on) if I remember correctly.

    Jaune was made leader of the team because during the Death Stalker fight (the scorpion) he took command and called out strategies for killing it. He isn't much of a fighter but he is a solid strategist.

    Hey guys .. Great reaction. Just a note: each volume of RWBY has a corresponding set of "World of Remnant" videos that delve deeper into the world building. They explain things like Aura, Semblances, Grimm .. etc. Please make sure to watch those too at the end of each volume. They are usually labeled by Volume to make it easier for you to know which to watch and at what point. Keep up the great work.

    • @Dreznin
      @Dreznin ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The labels are also important if they want to avoid spoilers, as some of the later World of Remnant videos contain information about things that haven't been revealed yet.

    • @ILikeCHEEZ9
      @ILikeCHEEZ9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's honestly not that important, canon yes, good music, heck yes but you're not missing out on crucial details if you don't listen

      @@ILikeCHEEZ9 True your not missing anyting if you don`t listen to them, but you also don`t get additional character growth and exploration of characters. You can infer a lot of that in the show with speculation, but the OST`s deffinantly add to the experiance.

      Vol 2's post credit scene is canon, it's just a dream sequence and Vol 9's post credit scene is a teaser for the Justice League crossover movie

    • @Bicornis

      @@lightspeed_777 V2's post-credits scene has always gotten the reactors I've watched to connect the dots on who that person was or validating their theories about who they are. Jaune was chosen as a leader from something that was seen in that battle on ep 8. He's a natural leader/strategist... even if he's lacking combat skills.

    To be fair, that was a stronger than normal Ursa. At least, it looked different enough, and was bigger. So being beaten up easier would be understandable.

    I never thought less of Jaune than when he was thinking of actually throwing that at Pyrrha.

  • @smockboy
    @smockboy ปีที่แล้ว

    If you go back and watch the episodes 7 and 8 again with a critical eye (and ear) you'll notice Pyrrha using her Polarity semblance a few times in them. Specifically, to pull her spear out of the wall and back into her hand after pinning Jaune to the locker room wall as she walks past and during the fight with the Deathstalker (the scorpion Grimm). It's typically accompanied with a slight black 'glow' (for want of a better word) around the object being manipulated and a slight electronic whirring sound.
    This show is great for sprinkling in little hints like that before dropping reveals - and their attention to detail for the little things is just *chef's kiss*.
    That said, they do seem to make a little continuity error in episode 14, though. When Jaune's aura activates to protect him from Cardin's punch at the end of episode 13, it's healed the bruises on his face just like it healed the scratch on his face in the episode where Pyrrha unlocked his aura, and his aura is clearly active during the fight with the Ursa because he checks his scroll to see how much he has left - but then when he's helping Cardin back to his feet after defeating the Ursa the bruises are back again.
    It's an anomaly, though, and I put it down to the low budget they had for Volume 1. Continuity errors all but cease to be a thing when they get a budget glow-up in Volume 3.

    At this point, i don't think the transcripts even matter anymore. He faked his way in, but I'm pretty sure Oz would just point out he used "unconventional methods", but he was successful in gaining entry, and at this point, he's still performing well enough to stay. Saving another team's leader from an attack is what a true Huntsman should do, after all.

    Cardin's character is an allusion to Henry Beaufort who oversaw the execution of Jaon of Arc. Which is a clever additional layer to this arc.

    The growth and development of Ruby & Jaune, both as leaders as well as characters, will be touched upon time & again throughout the series, guys. Don't worry....... They all have much to learn and experience.
    Keep up the good work watching RWBY, Chase & Sky!! You both are really getting into the world here, not just the battles. I do like seeing that. o7
