Nice job giving folks what they want, and also being truthful with your thoughts on what happens when a bell is cut. I would think that the best playing result might come from building a complete horn around this travel ring bell (rather than taking a well playing horn and cutting the bell) The skinny tuning slide brace option with the TERD sounds like a pretty good start, though. Will the Edward’s room have one or two of these travel bells for those shopping and being fitted for new horns?

My goal is to offer 22 & 23 ga yellow unsoldered and 22 & 23 ga rose soldered rims and have for people at Edwards fittings for exactly this. About to start mounting now that rings are built.

Glad you guys are starting to do this! Another thing to consider is the lacquer. I find that removing it helps free up the horn and improves the response and resonance, especially with the travel ring.
See you at STC this summer!

I don't know about damping adding weight to that part of the bell, and haven't really liked too many cut bell trombones I've tried. Damping and adding weight to the throat, close to the main brace though ... It's definitely a tool that can work.

You mentioned small counterweights? They're not listed on your website. I'm on the hunt for a small-ish counterweight.
