    I got accepted to neuroscience at UofC in the fall, I’ve been stressing to all my friends about how I have no idea what I’m getting myself into, and then just magically your video popped up on my feed. Couldn’t have come at a better time! Thanks so much for sharing, way less nervous now :) could you please make a video about your journey into med school like when you wrote your MCAT, who you asked for references, and how you get opportunities to work in labs, I’m so clueless LOVE YOUR CHANNEL ❤️

    Hi! I am Angela. I am from Bangladesh and I have recently immigrated to Canada. I am currently living in Calgary. I have completed my undergrad in Computer Science and Engineering from Bangladesh (passing year - 2019). But now I want to study Medicine in Canada. I have some questions regarding my future journey. Would you please help me with some suggestions? I need to know about academics and clinical experience. My undergrad cGPA is very moderate (3.45/4.00), I need to make it at least 3.80; shall I go for a second undergrad? Or, what should I do? It will be really helpful if I get your suggestions. Thanks!

    • @TheDailyMundane
      @TheDailyMundane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Erin Thanks so much!! For most schools in Canada, only one semester of ochem is required, but some schools may be different!

    • @garrettdyess1110
      @garrettdyess1110 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve seen some schools shifting away from requiring two semesters of OChem! For example, the University of Alabama Birmingham only requires one semester of Biochem. Obviously, you’d need an underpinning in general and ochem1 to get biochem.

      @@malkmorsy8142 unfortunately I didn’t get into neuroscience🙁. However, I did get into kinesiology and I’m currently studying in first year. I think I didn’t get in because I put my first option as kinesiology then when I got accepted I wanted to switch to neuroscience. So I reapplied and put my first option as neuroscience and my second as kinesiology. Now either 1 of 2 things happened. My English grade was too low or I had already got accepted to kinesiology so they voided my application for neuroscience.

    Hi! Congratulations on graduating. I’ve been watching your videos for a while, and I have a longer question for you.
    Here is my situation. I am only forty hours away from completing my undergraduate degree. However, I have made the choice to pursue medicine. I have wanted to pursue medicine for a while (roughly a year and a half) but I have been scared off by organic chemistry and physics. I have never made a B in my life, and I scored in the 97th percentile on my ACT, but I was never able to get over my mental hurdle until recently. I will begin the process of taking two biologies, two inorganic chemistries, two organic chemistries, and two biochemistries in the fall. But, I wanted to go ahead and start looking at the MCAT, and familiarizing/preparing myself for it. (I am planning on taking it in the early summer of 2022). While I was going through the biology review book for the MCAT, I quickly realized that it was extremely biochemistry heavy and even though the book had a lot of content…it was content written for someone with a wider foundation in biology and chemistry so to speak. So, while I want to do what I can to start preparing myself for the MCAT, it will be over a year before I begin taking biochemistry. I don’t know what to do about this. How can I start preparing for the MCAT now without the foundations? The psychological, social, and biological foundations of behavior section and the critical analysis and reasoning sections do not scare me nearly as much as the Biological and Biochemical Foundations Of Living Systems along with the Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems do.
    Thanks!

      @TheDailyMundane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garrett Dyess Hi Garrett, thanks for your comment! From what I understand, you’re essentially asking how to begin early prep for the mcat even without having taking the courses yet, is that correct? I think this is definitely possible as there were sections that I had to self-teach as well! Khan academy is a great resource because it has video tutorials and practice questions. And as always, doing lots of practice with the content is your best bet for understanding the material! Hope that helps and good luck!!!👍

    • @garrettdyess1110
      @garrettdyess1110 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      TheDailyMundane Firstly, thanks for the answer. Yes, I have not taken any pre-req as of yet (I’m very early in the process). But, I wanted to do what I can over the next three years to prepare for the MCAT. I signed up for MCAT question of the day, and I’m going ahead and going through Khan’s Biology and Chemistry courses. Do you think that is a good place to start? I’m just trying to fight the forgetting curve that will come over the next three years. I’ve heard from many people that the test is much more of a reasoning test with a scientific underpinning than a pure science test. So, I’ve been advised to start reading scientific journals, but I don’t know if that’s good advice.

    • @TheDailyMundane
      @TheDailyMundane  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Garrett Dyess Ooooh! In that case, I wouldn’t worry too much about the science prep. Your courses will be great for that and you’ll probably only need a light review to be ready! My best advice for what you can do at this time is to practice reading comprehension! Most people find CARS to be the most difficult section, and its usually the toughest one to improve on. So getting a head start and practicing consistently will probably be a great benefit for you!😃
