Ik this is a 3 year old comment and the game is much older, but imo EN Evil Ryu sounds like his title "Hatrer Incarnate. The emotions the VA put into the voice lines makes him seem like he's lost all self-control and is the embodiment of rage and hate. The JP Evil Ryu kinda sounds more like a demon, like he's really been taken over by the pure evil of the Satsui no Hado. Not necessarily angry, but an agent of chaos and destruction controlled by demonic power
I'm one of those people that has the voice choice according to region fighter is from (i.e. fighter from Asia gets Japanese voice actor, fighter from European or English-speaking country gets English voice actor), and I felt that Evil Ryu's Japanese voice didn't cut it. When I heard the English regular Ryu, my thought was "I can't help but think that would make for an excellent Evil Ryu!". And here it is, in total perfection. I have Evil Ryu set to English, and I think it fits well!
