As far as Gouki is concerned, it's not so much miscasting as it is misdirection. Mallow can pull off intimidating, deep-voiced characters; he _did_ do Patamon's evolutions in Digimon, which were stellar performances on his part. If the localization of the game were outsourced to a specialized company, the entire cast would've turned over a better performance.

I know this comment is 10 years old, but it's worth mentioning. That's because Oni isn't exactly Shin Akuma. Shin Akuma is the version of Akuma where it uses his full extent of his Satsui no Hadou. Oni Oni is the version of Akuma where he loses control of his Satsui no Hadou and get consumed by it. It's almost like a Shin Shin Akuma.
Thought this one sounds more... memorable. Infact everyone's voice in english alot more memorable, fun, and each has their own personalities. The japanese ones are still great, but I thought I liked Dudley and Cody's english counterparts alot more. It just kind of fits the characters' attitudes, you know?
Theres a few missed. He has specific dialauge when he fights (dont know with every characters) when you reach him as a boss. For example, he will say to evil Ryu during the intro "Finally, my boy. You have succumb to the power" or to Cody "as long as you hold back, your destruction is assured"
He is a god. Oni is basically what is Akuma fully mastering the Satsui no Hado and consuming him completely. Making him powerful enough to be a planet-destroyer
