I remember watching the Benn v McClennan fight live on ITV as a teenager, and watching McClennan getting counted out on one knee, then walking back to his corner on strong legs, and I remember thinking that something's not right. Back in the day I scouted Nigel Benn for a well known fighter (no names), but it would have been a big fight (and it was not Roy). Benn was well known, but fighters don't base shit on popularity. After watching Benn, I knew there was NO WAY the fighter I was scouting for could beat him. So I had a way with words when conveying messages like this. My report to his camp was three words: 'He's an animal'. I never heard back from that camp and was worried I'd pissed them off. After the McClellan fight, he sent me a wine and cheese back with only the words "Thank you" on it. Ha ha Real shit

I remember watching Ben in my teenage years. God he was awesome. I was a soldier, Benn was ex forces, I backed him all the way, my brother supported Eubank. Interesting times! Loved how Bruno was screaming at the side of the ring during the McClelland fight, it seemed like such an impossible task. The odds so stacked against Benn, the man had the heart of a lion. Was sad to see what happened to McClelland after the fight, no boxer should have that happen too them, but I guess that's the risk they take..a brutally lonely risk.
My dad's mate bought a car off a fella years ago, he went into the house to pay this fella, he had loads of boxing memorabilia he had won everything and anything my dad's mate said to him what happened? Benn had mixed reviews in the UK. Gerald McClellan was arguably the best in his division. Jones may argue otherwise but they were the one two. McClellan was a top ten P4P er and a reputation for early KO's so for Benn this was a fight with neon lights outside it saying danger as McClellan was predicting a vicious early KO. Benn was a heavy underdog in a field of 2. Very few people gave Benn a fighting chance. This is how much of a favourite McClellan was and up there with the biggest shocks. I remember watching it on TV, no PPV then, and for Benn a truly amazing victory but a sad ending.
Normally, I hate and loathe music in videos. However, I love Nigel Benn and The Prodigy and this video is brilliantly put together to make it very watchable for me so thanks. Nigel Benn and Mike Tyson, in my opinion the most exciting, ferocious, brave and true legends ever in boxing. That is not to say other's are not great too, but not quite in the same class!

One of my biggest heroes, back in the day (still is! ) I don't think he gets the appreciation he deserves, tbh. Did so well to rebuild from the shattering early losses against Watson and Eubank, too. Makes today s boxing look mediocre . nowadays no characters, no excitement, no heart, we were all spoiled during the 80 s and 90 s so many good fighters in all divisions. It seemed like there was a great fight on every couple of weeks back then. Carl Froch for me is/was the only fighter worth watching in recent times. Miss those Saturday night fight nights x

Benn had mixed reviews in the UK. Gerald McClellan was arguably the best in his division. Jones may argue otherwise but they were the one two. McClellan was a top ten P4P er and a reputation for early KO's so for Benn this was a fight with neon lights outside it saying danger as McClellan was predicting a vicious early KO. Benn was a heavy underdog in a field of 2. Very few people gave Benn a fighting chance. This is how much of a favourite McClellan was and up there with the biggest shocks. I remember watching it on TV, no PPV then, and for Benn a truly amazing victory but a sad ending.

Nigel Benn and Mike Tyson, in my opinion the most exciting, ferocious, brave and true legends ever in boxing. That is not to say other's are not great too, but not quite in the same class!

ezvizion , social media happened . Nowadays fighters just talk a good game , fight a bum and then give it the big un on twitter like they've just beat Ali , foreman and Frazier at the same time with one hand tied behind their back .

only jealous pussies hated Eubank in my opinion or racists even, because he liked to dress smart and talk posh some people just didnt get that a black man should be like that.
Much respect to Benn, but I loved Eubank because he really made boxing look like an art, which it is.
I agree..I was a massive benn fan back in the day but what people must remember Is eubank was naturally a much bigger man..benn won the second fight in my opinion

One of my biggest heroes, back in the day (still is! ) I don't think he gets the appreciation he deserves, tbh. Did so well to rebuild from the shattering early losses against Watson and Eubank, too. Went on to have a sensational career. Such an exciting fighter, those Big Ben chimes before his ring walk, still give me goosebumps, today... 😂😮

Makes today s boxing look mediocre . nowadays no characters, no excitement, no heart, we were all spoiled during the 80 s and 90 s so many good fighters in all divisions. It seemed like there was a great fight on every couple of weeks back then. Carl Froch for me is/was the only fighter worth watching in recent times. Miss those Saturday night fight nights x

possibly one the of the most venomous fighters of his era,he certainly could bang,but got beaten by more skilled boxers of his era,one things for sure with benn,he knew how to light the touchpaper.never ducked any opponent,brought the pain and felt some,a true warrior.
