    I have had numerous different drivers but always go back to my G10, its so easy to place the shots. That said i had a G10 3 wood which is impossible so picked up a G10 4 wood for €60, happy days :-)

      I have G15, it’s the oldest club in my bag and was thinking of picking up a new driver, but I’m still real happy with it. Kind of have the feeling of it’s not broke don’t fix it.

    Been using the Nike Sasquatch Tour Driver from 2006 since High School. I can carry it 285 on the simulator with low 170’s ball speed. Just bought a Cobra Aerojet LS from 2023 after doing a lot of research about older vs newer drivers.. Will report back once I hit the Cobra.

    I have the G425 LST and really like it. But, sometimes, I game an older Rapture and am surprised that my scores and distances are about the same. The difference is there’s a level of satisfaction in playing well or better with “older” technology.

      I agree. L really like the older clubs. Don't like the looks of the newer drivers. They look like they belong in a starwars film. 9 yards is nothing to me. I'm an average golfer. If i don't center a driver I'll make up for it on the next shot. I don't take it seriously. I can see where these guys would.

    There's been several of these tests on other TH-cam channels and I didn't want to believe the data. So I took my 2007 Cleveland HiBore XL driver to my local golf shop and asked their pro to hit it. Sure enough, a 1.48 smash factor drive at 110 MPH swing speed resulted in nearly identical ball speed and spin characteristics as the 2023 Srixon driver that's in the bag of the pro who hit it...... It'll be used drivers for me in the future that's for sure. I feel like such a sucker for paying $500+ for what has proven to be nothing more than fancy designs and good marketing.

    • @edge21str
      @edge21str 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Like the other guy said, the real difference is forgiveness on bad strikes. If you can't find the middle, a newer driver will give you better results in terms of how far offline it's going.
      On the other hand, if you're an excellent ball striker, 10 extra yards is enough for you to notice the strokes gained. That's one whole club lower you need to hit on your next shot.

  • @JDSFLA
    @JDSFLA 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    If you were to use the G20 (introduced in 2012) instead of the G10 (intro 2007) I think that the results would have shown very little difference. G20 shape is much different than the g10 and I suspect much better MOI. I just did my own test yesterday, taking my old G20 to the range VS several of my newer drivers and the G20 in going back into my bag. I used a Swing Caddie SC200 to monitor carry/smash/swing speed and my G20 was giving me 2-5 yards more carry and more consistently hit down the middle.

    Can’t go wrong with the stability of the G425…for distance, a lower lofted G10 would be closer in distance but not forgiveness.

      You're probably correct, but how much forgiveness do we need? I grew up playing with wooden woods. There was 0 forgiveness. I've been forgiven so much by my golf clubs that I'm not even Catholic anymore.

    Why would Lee Westwood be playing a G10 driver as apposed to a newer Ping version for so long into his career ?

    • @todaysgolfer
      @todaysgolfer  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Because he had confidence in it Stephen. He was also just about the best driver of the golf ball in the world at the time as well.
      Lee is a bit of an anomaly, he used Ping Zing 2 irons for ages after they were retired and still plays really old JZ Lite iron shafts even today.

    I appreciate the video but I can't believe that YOU are believing Ping marketing department in the data they provided. It is fairly well known that the Ping i25 driver is the longest driver Ping has ever produced at swing speeds in the 95 - 125 mph range, with the Ping G20 and G25 being the longest & most forgiving drivers Ping has ever produced. The decision to start putting the turbulators & dragonflies on top of the crown was purely marketing and had no basis in engineering. This has been commented on by former Ping engineers as well. I would love to see you test the Ping i25 and G25 driver against the G425 driver using the same shaft in all three. You will find that on center-face shots the i25 carries longer and rolls longer. Off-center shots will probably be a tie between the G25 and G425, but would be fun to see the results.

  • @mikesmith8100
    @mikesmith8100 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    9 yards is really nothing if you consider real golf time. You could hit the newest driver and depending on the fairway conditions end up behind the G10. And as far as the sweet spot it's micro between the two. However the g10 is a far better looking driver than the new ping which resembles some kind of insect head. Who would like looking down at that? Just saying ehh so what.
