    FRASIER was and is one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. I'm almost embarrassed to say how many times I've watched the entire series. I never tire of it.

      It's nothing to be ashamed of-- that show was light years ahead of their competition. It had lots of good laughs and not to mention good morals that were espoused in many episodes. Funny but also showing the importance and value of being a good human being is rare. 😍

      My wife and I have followed it from Netflix to Hulu and watch it several times a week. We start at the beginning in 1993 and run through to the end, then start all over again. Been doing that for about 7 years now and it never gets old.

      One of those shows that people will be watching for decades, well into the future. They don't come along very often. The 90s had a few of them. Frasier is my favorite live-action. Simpsons is my favorite Animated.

      Indeed. It is one of those charming, intelligent shows which one can rewatch any number of times. M*A*S*H is another one from my youth which I regularly return to, especially now in the days of Covid lockdowns.
      They seem to come around once a decade. In the 2000s "The Big Bang Theory" is a good candidate it seems, though "Gilmore Girls" would still have my vote.

    Fun fact: John Mahoney was actually born and raised in Manchester and moved to the U.S. at age 18, settling in the Chicago area. He trained himself to speak with an American accent and once said in an interview that it had been so long that he could barely switch back to his old accent even when he tried. I just thought it was so interesting to learn that he was actually from the place Daphne is supposed to be from on the show, and that her “Manchester” accent is contrived for the show while his American accent was once contrived for real life. He sounds so convincing as a working class Midwestern guy, I never would’ve guessed he was from England.

    • @andrewstamford1988
      @andrewstamford1988 2 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Funner fact: Anthony LaPaglia, who played Daphne's brother, did the most horrendous accent. Even if the producers wanted him to do it that way, it was terrible, certainly not Mancunian and also a pretty lousy cockney one, which is what I guess he was aiming at.
      But judging by his American (attempted) accents, I would think he just isn't good at doing accents of any flavour.
      And he ruined Frasier for those episodes he was in, I skip over them every time.

    • @EagleOneM1953

      @@Tom_TH-cam_stole_my_handle True, but no American would have noticed...not even that her brother Simon, played by Anthony LaPaglia was Australian with a very heavy Aussie accent... and I mean heavy...
      I even doubt many Brits would have been able to tell the accent her brothers had because there are so many and so diverse...

      @@EagleOneM1953 But Jane Leeves would have been aware and given most actors have at least a couple of accents they can competently play I'd always assumed it was an intentional joke, albeit one with only a few people on the inside.

      The writers were changed every season, or rather I think there were a few writing teams and they rotated. This helped keep the show from getting stale because it wasn't the same team of writers having to come up with fresh material for 11 years. Wonderful show, never fails to make me laugh!

    • @jacobmassey3897
      @jacobmassey3897 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Markus_Andrew for me though the humour died off after Niles and Daphne got together and the writers seemed to run out of material so they kept giving Frasier the same plot in several episodes where he would meet a girl then the relationship was over by the end of the episode. Martin and Roz seemed to become more central characters but Niles was mostly reduced to a side role

    • @Markus_Andrew
      @Markus_Andrew 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@jacobmassey3897 Fair enough 🙂 I must admit the earlier seasons where Niles was still with Maris (then Mel) but lusting after Daphne provided a richer field of material for his character. Still, I thought the quality of the show generally remained high throughout the run.

    FRASIER is the best sitcom that ever had. Every episode is different of the previous one , a World in itself .
    I think there is not any sitcom that reach not even the third part of enjoying and quality.
    Two weeks ago I bought this magnificient sitcom in an excellent spanish Web. Unafortunately, in my country were only released the seasons one to four in soanish language, for whom I had to get the complete series through Internet. However, in the rest european nations Frasier was entirely available , 11 seasons. It is a Shame that in my dear Soain only were sold 4 seasons.
    I must be of the minority percentage of spanish citizens who has good taste in whom concerns to high quality sitcoms.
    The soanish voice of Frasier is unique, the actor Who plsys it is the best (he also plays the spanish voice with figures as the secondary actor Bob in The Simpsons, between other works) .

    My favorite lol scene is when Eddie is ripping into the flour sack on Fraiser’s couch (Niles was caring for the sack like it was an infant) and Daphne says,”that dingo’s got your baby” in an australian accent.

    Jane Leeves was adorable as Daphne. The writers provided some great material for her and she developed a convincing character during the Frasier years. She was beautiful during her real pregnancy (season 8), even though it had to be depicted as a weight gain.
    To this day, just a lovely lady.

    When I spoke to Kelsey Grammar a couple of years ago when he was in London performing in "Man Of La Mancha", I asked i it was true that a new series was being written, and he confirmed that indeed there was. Won't be the same without "Martin" though...

      Yes, RIP John Mahoney.😞
      He was a great actor, and by all accounts a kind hearted man. He sure could make me laugh! I loved Martin Crane; Just a down to Earth, blue collar, working man. But nobody's fool! He more than held his own with his highly educated sons! Easily one of the best characters on TV, before Frasier, or since.

    Frazier is one of the best sitcoms ever done. It ranks right there with the likes of Mary Tyler Moore Show and All In The Family. Probably the best writing ever on.a sitcom. I was hoping for a spin off when Frasier ended with Niles and Daphne. Oh well.

      I love this show, and I'm glad Niles and Daphne got together.
      But I had an idea for a twist in the Finale....
      That whole relationship was a dream! Niles wakes up married to ROZ!!! She wakes him by hitting him with a pillow and saying...
      "Dammit, Niles, are you dreaming about Daphne _again???!!!"_
