Just a tip Max, if you get another flat tyre on the rear and the jack is not working, just put a rock / log under the other tyre and drive up onto it, it will lift the other tyre off the road so you can change it.
Okay this is wayyyy too simple an answer and how the hell didn’t I think to do this 😅😅😅 But at the same time the wheel nuts were over tightened (by the mechanic) so I think I actually needed that heavy duty socket wrench to move them. I tried for hours (off camera ha) and they wouldn’t budge!
@@MaxandOccy a 2-3foot long piece of pipe that can fit over your tyre leaver would help with the over tightened nuts.. I had a 4wd and often had the wheel nuts get tight making them a pain to get off.. having a breaker bar to call on ended up being a very useful tool.. mine would also fit over the jack handle so again having that long handle made jacking it up faster and meant i didn't have to get in under the thing to jack it up.

You are right the more we practice something the more confident we become that we can handle the ups and downs, challenges. Thanks for these thoughtful and beautiful videos - love the music you use too.
Max, watching your continued journey towards emotional/mental/physical health reminds me of a song that I used to get through a very tough time 7 years ago. The song is called 'Tell Your Heart to Beat Again' and it's by Danny Gokey. Awesome background story to the song and just a great reminder that sometimes we have to give ourselves permission to live again and for our heart to beat again for things we're passionate about. Continue the journey and thanks for sharing how you're feeling/doing.

Max, thank you for this awesome video! Trials and tribulations go along with anything worthwhile. Like you said, it’s all a learning experience. I’m thankful for people who care enough to stop and help someone on the side of the road. And I hope when you’re in Alice Springs you can pick up another spare tire. Thanks for the beautiful scenery and visiting with you and Occy. Take care, stay safe.
I was going to comment about the dewalt rattle gun being good to have in the van! Being that you have 240v through the inverter!! Good on you Wayne for being there! Loving your channel, found through watching the Van wives!! Thank you for showing off our wonderful back country!
Max, the way you are living your life speaks volumes and shows how we all need each other in some way… thank you for the courage to continue and tthe resilience you walk in the face of adversity. Kindness and Joy to You and Occy.
My favorite part of any given day or vacation is when we have to rely on each other as fellow humans. It slows us down, brings out our empathy and support, and brings such a sense of connected satisfaction.
Such an amazing adventure!! I started carrying two spares one underneath, one on the back!! Occy and his toys love it!! Paws up!! Can't wait for the next one safe travels!!🐶🐾
Enjoy your time in Alice Springs and Northern Territory. Having travelled to from Alice Springs to Kings Canyon a couple of times I really appreciate corrugated roads and the flys. Amazing views though. Sky at night is awesome. Enjoying seeing your experiences. Thank you for sharing.
The jack reached its maximum lift height of the cylinder which is why it wouldn't pump anymore. Most bottle jacks have a screw top (the black part on top of the cylinder) which extends the lift height. If that isn't high enough put some timber between the jack and axle, wooden guide posts work well (if you can find one). A small car stand under the socket extension to support it helps when getting wheel nuts off if they are tight, especially when using some pipe for extra leverage. Really enjoying your travels, can't wait for the next update 😁
Max, I would humbly share my experience with you and hope it is ok with you. When I travel to remote areas, I always have 2 jacks, with one definitely non-hydrolic (try not to get the China hydronic junk). Multiple patch kits. We were in a very remote area in Alaska and a $6 patch kit save our lives! Getting a satellite phone may be a good idea. I am sorry if I overstep, just a thought that sharing my real-life experience might contribute to your safety.
Just finished watching your arrival at Alice Springs - you are a very brave person to take on that journey, driving through the middle of nowhere in the desert. Inspiring.
Had to smile at the Aboriginal "Shoot Out at the O.K. Corral" music just after the 2 minute point. Even better than that was the "This is another fine mess you've gotten us into Ollie" look Occy gives you as you calmly deal with the tire. That dog is smart!! The musical artist just after the 10-minute point sounds like your friends Avian Blu. I saved their song "Cabin in the Woods" to my playlist -- so good! I cracked up when the rough road mess seemed more of a hassle than the flat tire. Next time I have my patience tested, I'm going to remember to "Stay Calm and Carry On." Thanks for the inspiration ... as usual. 😊
When adventuring, SAFETY is everything. When my own shit hits the fan, I deliberately spend more time strategizing the fix- than doing the fix. It's saved my ass a handful times plus!
Wow the vastness of Australia is wild. I live on a rain forest Island in Canada and I've never seen such open expanse its incredible!!! It would be great to seeing person.
Hey Max, Great video mate! Views were amazing! Shame about that tyre you was lucky someone came along. For future you should either carry a small ramp (or find something you can drive the inner other wheel up onto) just enough to get the flat one off the ground then you can change it even if you don't have a working jack! It wouldn't even need to be anything high just an inch or two extra so something lying around could do it rock or log, under the one next to the flat, just enough to clear the ground and get it off and get the new one on there. Not sure the torque settings but usually something like 120nm to 150nm I think off top of my head for lug nuts and bolts it'll be in the manual or online. Torque em up mate and carry a breaker bar! (You never know when you'll need it..) Good going on the push up challenge great cause and glad you're still raising awareness! Look forward to the next video! Occy's looking like he is enjoying himself! And you're looking well mate! Cheers from London 👍😎🏴

How scary was that? No way would I cross Australia on my own. Love the way you show us where you are on the map. Helps to get an idea of the scale of your journey.
This is bringing back memories I had forgotten about. My parents began travelling around Aus when I was 4yo and stopped travelling when I started highschool. All I remember of NT was flat, red dirt, cattle grids, hot, dry and flies...oh the FLIES!! I also remember the huge termite mounds and dad fixing many a flat tyre. I also remember springs/leaf thing or axel breaking on the caravan and dad unhitching and driving to the next town, which was hours away, while mum and us kids stayed with the van. I hope you have less "hiccups" on the rest of your journey.

I'm so sorry for your loss!!!! I experienced that gut wrenching feeling when my little dog Maggie passed away in Oct of last year after 11 years with her. I miss her tremendously. Time is a wonderful thing. Since then I adopted another beautiful dog. He has helped my heart heal.
@@airam3757 thank you for your reply. It is such a huge loss. My heart still aches for my beautiful Gus. I am glad your heart is healing, I hope one day I can open my heart to another dog but for now it hurts too much.
Fantastic as always Max, my wife, dogs Gracie4 & Darcy3 and I have just toured a tiny fraction of Scotland UK in our Merc Vito. We so thoughly enjoyed every single second, but I must admit the Aussie outback looks out of this world... As always Max you are a massive inspiration to me and 10's of 1000's of people all over the world. Also, on a personal note, thank you for sharing better help this has been a life saver for me. 🐾💕👌🙏
Hi Max, I had an identical puncture in my Sprinter Dually on dirt roads. I reckon a rock must have got wedged between the tyres. Also had problems getting the nuts off. Might have to invest in a Battery operated rattle gun. Love your videos and drone work. Stay safe. Ian from Western Australia.
I reckon you're right. Thanks mate!
@@MaxandOccy or at a minimum get all the rest of the lugs loosened while you're in Alice Springs and then only hand-tightened to the correct torque. You can bet that one tyre wasn't the only one on too tight. Oh, and buy a long breaker bar!
Great video Max. So glad you were able to get some help. Occy looks so happy and healthy .
Thanks Jess!! You should see him now he’s finally has a bath 😍
Just gotta say Max. Love your vids. After everything you've been through in recent history you are truly an inspiration to me. Thanks mate.
Thanks mate, really appreciate that!
Y’all are so damn cute! Ha ha Occy is such a happy dog 🐶 Thank you for sharing your journey!
What a bummer with that flat tire. You sure kept your cool. The guys that helped you were awesome. I love how Occy just goes with the flow being the experienced traveller that he is. Great vid, I'm looking forward to the next one!
Max this is unreal seeing this journey, being an Aussie and now in uk I never travelled to see our beautiful homeland so u r making a fellow Aussie so very proud of how vast and beautiful a country we have, stay safe ❤️✌🏻
Glad I can share it with you matey!
I just love Occers 🥰 he reminds me of my girl, Sydney. Such personality ☺️ Also, gotta love roadside angels!!!
Beautiful scenery! 12:26 is the BEST! ❤️Occy -and Max too.
Occy with a plush toy on the bare earth in the middle of nowhere!!♡
Hi from Oregon, USA...new subscriber here. The vegetation is different, but the countryside reminds me of southern Oregon/northern Nevada. I have converted and lived in a few vans in my day, long before TH-cam. I am a bit more "settled" now at 66, but still love being out in nature with my dog. I enjoyed this video.
So love Occy..and Max ..l think you are great...you treat your dog so well..enjoy watching you two
Dear Max, thank you for sharing your Max and Occy journeys with us and for raising so much awareness about mental health. Best wishes from a loyal viewer in Sydney
Hello from Denmark - loving watching your vlogs and journey. I never travel because I have server anxiety - I have been staying home for most of my life (Im 52). Watching your adventure fills me up and thank you for giving me joy 🥰 and thank you for giving mental health a voice 🙏🙏🙏
Max, watching your video brought me beautiful memories of my journey through Australia. Such a huge territory with amazing people, amazing places. Your videos are like an oasis of joy and happiness despite the challenges , seeing your doggy is so heartwarming, your way of sharing your life is inspiring. Big hug to you from Switzerland, take good care and thank you for promoting kindness and thoughtfulness, mental health is so important, sharing our care and love towards those in need is such a life saver. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for the kind words! 💛
Absolutely love this new adventure you and Occy are on, and to be honest, I didn't think I was going to enjoy this desert adventure. Shit does happen but you handled it well. Glad help arrived. Loved the spider/moon shot...lol.. Be safe, be happy you two.
You are a beautiful soul. I lost my partner to suicide less than a year ago. You are an inspiration. Thank you for just being you.
Yeh, we’ve had some pretty awesome trips thru our beautiful Australia we’ve been around about 4 times now always love finding different routes all the time and we’ve had a few epic vehicle fails too. But we keep going back…
Thank you for sharing this with us. ❤️ Occy
Thanks for joining the adventure!
Wauw awesome scenery ❤️ so Glad those people were passing by and could help you.
Aww Occy could watch him for ages. 🥰🥰How old is Occy Now ?
Safe journey take care .
US Expat who had 5 years in Australia and the red center is still on my list. Really enjoying these videos.
Gotta love the outback and the red centre! Despite the harshness and the lack of rain/water, she still looks beautiful! Enjoy Boys!
What beautiful country! That was a rough ride. Great job with the push up challenge. In front of the Alice Spring sign was fantastic cinematography 👍🏻🙌🏻😁
Thanks Mendy!! 💛
another great video, Max! I'm enjoying your journey through the outback. I love how you hobbled to the road and prepared for the first people to stop and help.
I love Occy❣️
Thanks for all you do. Love the way Occy plays with the gator!!
I see the confusion as the reptile in question was missing it’s head, but that was a croc Kelmie! Thanks for joining! 💛
Another epic video, thank you so much to you and Occy. Love to see the outback, doing a great job of showing our vast land. Great job, can’t wait for the next instalment. ☀️🇦🇺
Thanks Jackie! 💛
Enjoyed this part of your physical and mental journey so much. Thanks for sharing. The spaces that contain little are as rewarding and important as those that are “maxed” out. Good travels!
Thanks Brian and well said!
The area looks so remote but very pretty. Glad you were able to get your tire fixed.
Will definitely be picking up a spare, thanks Kathy!
There that beautiful furbaby Occy and you too Max... Lol♥️♥️♥️
Agreed!
Such an amazing adventure!! I started carrying two spares one underneath, one on the back!! Occy and his toys love it!! Paws up!! Can't wait for the next one safe travels!!🐶🐾
What a crazy few days in such a stunningly beautiful setting - I’m loving this new adventure ☺️
Thanks Jenny!
What a beautiful video Max. Thanks so much for taking me along for the ride.
Just finished watching your arrival at Alice Springs - you are a very brave person to take on that journey, driving through the middle of nowhere in the desert. Inspiring.
What beautiful scenery. Awesome video. Happy travels for you both. Looking forward to the next video
Thanks Chris!
Next time I have my patience tested, I'm going to remember to "Stay Calm and Carry On." Thanks for the inspiration ... as usual. 😊
Occy is so adorable 😊he knows there is gold there where he is digging, sorry just my hobby coming out ha ha
Hi from Colorado where your Celestial tea comes from, You have a safe journey!
When adventuring, SAFETY is everything. When my own shit hits the fan, I deliberately spend more time strategizing the fix- than doing the fix. It's saved my ass a handful times plus!
Hey ! Max and Occy. Thank you. It so good to see you and Occy !
Thanks for joining Lyn! 💛
Wow the vastness of Australia is wild. I live on a rain forest Island in Canada and I've never seen such open expanse its incredible!!! It would be great to seeing person.
I would love that level of isolation... I might be scared for a moment... but I would love it
Hey Max,
Great video mate! (You never know when you'll need it..)
Good going on the push up challenge great cause and glad you're still raising awareness!
Look forward to the next video!
Occy's looking like he is enjoying himself! And you're looking well mate!
Cheers from London 👍😎🏴
Enjoy Uluru, here in Sydney we're expecting 200mils of rain in the next week, you're not missing anything! I have a photo of my eldest daughter at the Northern Territory sign, she drove, by car, to Darwin from Melbourne, took her 9 days. She arrived in a thunderstorm just before covid began, she was in Darwin for a year before leaving the Army.
Just came across your channel. Loved the van tour was really interesting to hear why you did things a certain way. I then watched your tribute to Lee. I’m sorry that your message had to come from such grief. Hugs to you though for being brave and sharing your raw emotions. Having struggled with depression for 20 years I whole heartedly support your message of openly talking about mental health. It IS as important as physical health. It is OK to not always be OK and everyone needs to know this. Cuddles for Occy. Thank you 💗
Wow what a trip and what i like about you is you respond at your reviews from us even when you have patron , that is respect tk you for your kindness...from Québec Canada
Cheers Chantal!
Are you coming to KUNUNURRA? I live there and I just bought an Iveco daily 50c15 LWB 2003 and going to deck out as a camper!
I am so glad you both got the help you both needed to get back to driving on the dirt road.
I got a tip too. Google safety Dave tyre pressure monitors. Did the lap last year and they were great!! Also, u got Occy double flea & tick prevention? Just checking xx
⭐⭐⭐⭐ It is always great to see you & Occy. However, in the midst of adversity I admire your new way of handling situations as they present them self. Having said that, it could be that the "better-health" is truly helping, but whatever the case maybe you don't give up, and that is to be commended. I know there are times when we all want to say the hell with it, but as we stand back & take a minute to reflect on things, the solution becomes clearer. My favorite part of the video, was hearing your laughter when you and your buddies were playing monopoly. Give a big hug to Occy, Stay Safe & Healthy... Abrazos
Well said Romano, thank you 💛
Thanks for showing me Australia.
Hey Max, great video mate. And you are a good bloke. All the best. Great for me to find and Australian van lifer. Lot happening in North America but great to see some quality content from home.

Max 😃✌🏼💛 I’m glad that you got help with the flat tire 🛞👍🏼 in the middle of not where 🙃. I love when you and Occy yawn 🥱 simultaneously 😄. Sending you positive vibes, peace ✌🏼, love 💕 and light 🌞🌻
Love your mental health messages. I am really enjoying your videos. Thanks for sharing them.
Thanks so much for sharing this trip! Incredible scenery!
Such an awesome pup! The smile on your face with Occy's antics is priceless!! Continued blessings to you both, from the USA
We love you, Max. Just please keep yourself and Occy safe. Thank you for taking us with you.
How scary was that? No way would I cross Australia on my own.
Love the way you show us where you are on the map. Helps to get an idea of the scale of your journey.
Glad you enjoyed the map addition. Will try to include them more often from here on out!
Another great one. Loved it. Thank you.
