I love this. It's an example for a lot young people who get frustrated when they see house prices in Kingston. You have start somewhere, this man 1. Did not buy in Kingston 2. Learned some of the work so that reduces labour cost 3. Took his time 4. Planned and researched 4. Gave up other things for his goal...it can be done , my helper throw partner, with her partner draw keep party and sell food, sell price mart cake, consign liquor , on her weekends off buy things downtown and sell in her community, buy chicken for Christmas..she building a two bedroom house by herself. She very ambitious and independent. She told me last week, can you imagine what I would do if I was educated. Have a plan and work your plan people.
The A number 1 is for people to forget about Kingston. I live and work abroad in IT similar to this man and I cannot afford Kingston. I can drive guh spend one night or the weekend in a hotel and spin round guh back a country lol. That's the extent of my ability to afford Kingston. Everybody i see online offended that they can't get a house in their budget there. I'm like you see the government building up St. Thomas JUMP on a piece of land over there ahead of where they building the road! And boom you can soon commute to Kingston fast. People just have to think ahead. Who own a car can drive further and should look further out.
I absolutely love this video. Congrats to this young couple. Let's remember that this young lady stands beside her Kingman. Many young women would be presuring men for shoes, nails and hair. Together they sacrifice to build wealth. Please bring more of these videos because they will inspire more young people and older ones who waste money on either seeking attention or love.
This couple is one of my most inspirational and admired couple. I just admire their humble beginning. They let me believe in myself. He is a very wise young man he took wise counsel. I hope other young men see and follow. They do have my sincere wish for God continuous blessing throughout their lives.
I love that he did not get obsessed with building nor buying in Kingston, he did not bother with an architect for a plan because he says NHT actually has free plans people can use (I still love the creativity and technical detail of an architect but I like knowing these options to share with others), and he learned the core grades so he can do a lot of the work himself. He also tek telling! Landlord advised him don't gyal out yuh money and he was brave enough to ask her to sell him a piece of land and work something out! Some man you tell that and they don't listen until they are 3 children and 2 mothers in the hole and buried in debt and expense. Glad he's being so smart, so wise. And notice he said it took about 6 months for water commission to get him his water. This is definitely a marathon not a sprint and not for the impatient. And he's starting out with something simple. Not really that simple overall it's a full 2 storey house it sounds like he's building but he started out building enough to move in, save rent, and do his thing. There is a lesson in that definitely, get out of paying other housing expense as soon as you can so you can afford to put rent money towards your build! I love how he has future plans for things like the ceiling but just waiting on the money. He does what he can and don't feel like he has to do it all same time. And i love that he bought the things important to him like an induction cooktop and just slowly wait until the money is there for less critical things! Love love love it! He is such an inspiration to us all to be doing it at an active age. I love the Google Assistant smart features he has put in with his lighting!
And may I just add, for those who are going to say they can't do the building themselves, then all that mean is you build even slower than he is since you have to pay someone else to do it, and you build a smaller house first that can add on to later, if not added on by you, by your next generation! If the parents who were not able have children, maybe if you even neva tek telling when people advise you about relationships and you are a single parent, you might have to wait until your last child is grown before you can see about what you doing, but train them in the mindset of not just "don't do this" and "don't do that" but what they ARE to be looking about in their youth, if they have a DO task to focus their energy on they shouldn't even have time to make the same mistakes you did! Put together with those same children to build something, make sure first of all they all get a trade, whether girl or boy. Everybody must be certified in something useful within a year or two of graduating high school, or even if they did not get through high school. Jamaica's laws changed in November 2021 and now there is a serious shortage of licensed electricians who have fulfilled all the qualifications to do the required inspections of land and homes to establish any new electrical service. There goes a trade for your children to get into, ASAP! Don't have the girls just doing poor woman tings have them go do the same things the boys are! Be in the same pardna as your adult children if you can't get a bank account yet, and start getting to know a JP and whoever else so by a year or two time you have the witnesses needed to get the bank account and move on with your life. Some of you go to church just for show, when you could be getting involved and get your name and face known in there and get to know JPs and other necessary folks who attend your same church. Get smart. You have to think both this basic (the little steps) and this far ahead (the overall goal and timeline) to move your life forward! Some women have a man already paying for everything and they just coast on that, when that is the perfect time to still earn your own money and use it to buy you a piece of land and build even one room and a kitchen, cause you can still go use latrine until you have money for toilet but you must be able to cook, store, and refrigerate some food and that living room you build first can sleep in if you put a futon in it! A lot of people alienate their family or look down on their family for being poor or just don't have faith in their family because they don't have the money, but maybe the truth is, individually you don't have the money but 2, 3, 4, 5 of you come together who are parents and children, siblings, or spouse, and either use the combined NHT funds or the combined cash to move the thing forward on a 5 year plan like him. Just have to make sure everybody serious about having a decent place and that everybody who contribute name is on the title. I have seen where 3 people put together to buy land and build house, I am sure there are titles with more than 3 names on them as well. Stop trying to do everything alone, live good with people who are not crosses or have no ambition. This guy seems like he gets good deals because he lives good with people and not into any mixup or drama, part of why he's avoiding Kingston life aside from being smart enough to build where he can afford what he wants. Sometimes the answer is to build smaller. Sometimes the answer is to build the size you want but somewhere else. If you don't know anywhere else, get out of your box, stop wasting time on weekends doing things and going places and dealing with people who not helping you, and start exploring your island. Knutsford express, bus, friend, taxi, etc. TH-cam has plenty of Jamaicans all over the country showing off their area and what they are getting done there, start educating yourself for free through TH-cam videos. Start looking (filtered to country, sorted by price) on real estate sites like realtor.com/international and see which parishes have what you can afford. The land this guy built on was very rocky but he turned the rocks into a beautiful driveway entry... if you find something that does not have so much rocks, even better, less expensive to begin the actual build after you dig it up. Most, if not nearly all, the immigrants people jealous of who come from other countries (even after the time in Jamaica's history of indentured servitude) and build a life in Jamaica did NOT do it as one person. They put together with other family members, whether siblings, parents, husband, or wife, and that is how they moved from 0 to hero in their own life story. It does not take an advanced degree to build a house, and I bet you out of everyone you have ever met if you spent time in Jamaica, someone you know is, or knows a guy who is, a mason. You can walk up and down in the area you want to build and ask someone else who's house is in progress or looks newly built who their mason was and get the info. And a mason always knows a plumber or whatever but Google Maps and the government agencies that license these people can tell you that too, so that is the other thing, start calling up NHT or the mortgage section of a bank or your parish council or anyone you know who has built or bought a home and ask them where you go to do this or that. The answers are not all lying around easy to find, you have to hustle. But plenty others doing it means you can too. If you unemployed you have even more time to help yourself, actually, because after spending the first half of the day looking for work, you should spend the second half checking out land, in real estate groups online learning what's going on in today's world of real estate, staying on top of current prices for basic building materials and appliances, putting together your floorplan for your dream house, and putting together a Pinterest.com album of home designs and styles you like with sections in it for every room and space with a name in and outside your house, as well as to save screenshots of building professionals such as masons, plumbers, electricians, carpenters, solar panel dealers, lawyers, realtors, shippers, etc. that you come across as you research on the internet. Learn what is involved in each step of the land buying, building, and interior design process, and start a TH-cam playlist for each of these aspects. By the time you get the job and save the money you will be so knowledgeable you can just move on the game plan! All your time is useful.
This young man has vision, drive and the discipline required to build his dream home. Well done sir. I hope solar power will be included at some point in the future.
Had a smile on my face the whole time while I watched this video. Brought tears to my eyes at times. Good one. No, best video Delpratt. Continued success to all!
This vlog is absolutely inspirational. You ambitious couples make me proud of Jamaican progression. The young chap and his wife are thinking of their life's plan and quality of life. Invest wisely, and being smart is key. I cannot commend them enough, as well as both Cass and yourself Adrian. Happy New Year to both couples. Blessings and success to you.
Wonderful video, I love that the young man was offended when he was told don’t waste his money but instead counter act and now he has something. You to are doing a great job uplifting people in Jamaica. I am in the VI
This is beautiful... i have a friend who husband build there whole house on his own.. he even started welding and made his own gate.. i was baffled by the work he did.. even the whole kictchen cupboard.. if u pug ur mind to it man... u can achieve it
He’s a very inspirational man. Love his drive and determination excited for the updates for the upstairs and farming area. Very smart man✌🏾✌🏾👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
If I could like this video 1 more time I would. Truly an inspirational video. This is what I preach to my coworker who throw their hands in the air in frustration at the raising cost in house. Don't ever give up, God gave you two hands, foot and head like everyone else put it to work.
Let's not make it sound like he was lucky. He listened and didn't take a negative attitude, want hard ears, and live good with people. He did not know how to do any of this before except how to use a drill. So that mean anybody can learn how to do whatever part of the build they are willing to do and make sure to avoid scams and low quality by hiring professionals for the rest.
I loved this whole vlog, Ed and Lola have done an amazing job. I found this vlog very inspirational and informative. I can not wait to see their progress in a year's time! 🙏🏽
This was so good to watch, thank you! Bless di landlord what advise him "don't gyal-out yuh money" and well done young man for listening and putting your skills to go use. 👍
Totally impressed and inspired............ That young man is very talented and understands the value of time management and focus....this is very refreshing. Thanks for sharing!!!!!
it is nice to see young people helping younger people to find ways of achieving a home. The beauty of buying land is that you can plant and add to the home. I would like to see here five years from now and when they build upstairs for their kids.
This young man is amazing …there is nothing ordinary about this young man. He is a visionary. Truly inspirational! Can’t wait to see the follow up. Blessings!
This was very informative and inspiring - I love to see when people are building a home especially young people. Jamaica has made gated housing the go to for getting on the housing ladder and its great to see that there are people still willing to build homes from scratch..He has displayed, that you need the mindset, determination and vision when you want to achieve a goal. Would love to see the developments he has made on his home in another year or two. I wish him (them) all the best.
Hi guys love love this vlog this young man is in his own lane he is not in competition with no-one I notice a lot a black people tend to think if you have a big house I have to have one too this young man took on the advice of the old lady and run with it I like his enthusiasm, energy, intelligence and he is humbly he is such a phenomenal role model to other young men out there in Jamaica to stop killing one another and lean a skill this young man can offer his services at a reasonable price.
So proud of this young couple and what they have accomplished. Goes to show you that if the mind can conceive and believe it can be achieved. Looking forward to seeing the end results of this young couples hardworking and dedication
OMG this is so inspirational!!! I just stumbled on this video and it is so ironic that I am thinking about moving to Mandeville from Kingston and wanting to build but dont know where to even start BUT THIS VIDEO IS A REAL MOTIVATION AND EYE OPENER. Thank you for videos like these.
Beautiful vlog and beautiful home. I'm inspired as well and even more convinced that Mandeville is where I wanna build my home. Thanks for sharing guys😎😎
He had a great landlord , he must be a good person and great tenant, for the landlord to look out for him ,the way she did and the landlord have to be a good person also because most time landlord only look out for themselves ! The guy is so inspiring and learn fast ! I wish him all the best ! 👍🏿
Yes he obviously live good with people and listen to those who have achieved what he hasn't yet such as his landlord and his brother, and that is what help him get the deals and get ahead. Some of us Jamaicans raised by very negative people and never move past the "whoa is me" mindset to achieve.
There is a young man with a vision, he earns a reasonable salary and he is putting it to good use. Very few young man like him build a house for themselves across the world. He done it all by himself. No inheritance money but out of his own sweat. Well done young man. Jamaica is developing very well. Good houses
I really appreciate and love this video very inspiring and motivating. He has a beautiful home with a beautiful view. Would to see more videos like this.
I love this... was trying to get a nice piece of land like this with view.... he remind me of my dad... a jack of all trade... I see my self in this man.. big man ... and my God continues to bless u.
I love this, I appreciate that the Delpratts highlighted this guy, even tho there's lots of people who do this around, they're not highlighted and as a result looked down upon because this is hardwork patience dedication and a finally the vindication of all those inputs. Words from that lady. I just watched your dome home vid. Thx for keeping my mind on yard while I'm on this OP.
Happy New Year. Thank you for the informative video learned a lot, but what I love the most is seeing my people interact and support each other positively. Thank you!
Happy New Year Delpratt’s…Thanks for sharing this very inspiring story. I hope this story will inspire someone else. God please cover this young couple’s union and all their endeavors
Blessings. Blessings. Wonderful Video 📹. Wishing him the best 👌. He have a vision and he is executing it. I am very happy that you highlighted his thoughts. Good job. Blessings. Health. Health.
Ed & Lola - love the vision and the Focus - Wish i had half the skillset ..Will contact you when i get my little piece of dirt ..Del Pratts thanks for introducing this couple to world. Watching from UK ev
I live in NYC but my family are all Jamaicans n still live in JA. I enjoy this video and looking to buy a property in the states and JA. I am open to learn!
Mrs delpratt this is more than a inspiration....and I want to tell you and your husband thank you so much for these types of videos. I'm a young adult just like Mr Ed who have dreams and aspirations to live in a kingdom with my queen by my side ❤️
It should be an easy addition by removing the stairs at the entry. But then based on the snippet of the 3D plan and Ed's time frame for completion he will be expanding - carport, second story. Excited for him!
Thank you all for tuning in! ROAD To 50K by May is in motion. Remember to Like and Subscribe!

This should be a series, we need a yearly update on this couple
This couple is one of my most inspirational and admired couple. I just admire their humble beginning. They let me believe in myself. He is a very wise young man he took wise counsel. I hope other young men see and follow. They do have my sincere wish for God continuous blessing throughout their lives.
I love that he did not get obsessed with building nor buying in Kingston, he did not bother with an architect for a plan because he says NHT actually has free plans people can use (I still love the creativity and technical detail of an architect but I like knowing these options to share with others), and he learned the core grades so he can do a lot of the work himself.
I love the way his girlfriend Lola looks at him. You can see that she's proud of him.
He is going to save a lot of money because he is do most of the work himself I can see that God blessed him hand
WOW. What an amazing young man. Jamaica needs more of him. May the Lord continue to bless and inspire him.
Had a smile on my face the whole time while I watched this video. Brought tears to my eyes at times. Good one. No, best video Delpratt. Continued success to all!
I felt the same way too, when he was talking about the cupboard doors, i was nodding my head and saying yes the distressed look
more Jamaicans need to learn and promote each other and show that we are more than crime .
Oh please they know. Dem jus badmine
This vlog is absolutely inspirational. You ambitious couples make me proud of Jamaican progression. The young chap and his wife are thinking of their life's plan and quality of life. I can see the humility in him.
Ed is very talented and skilled. He has done work that people who are professionals are not able to accomplish.
Good luck young man
Wonderful video, I love that the young man was offended when he was told don’t waste his money but instead counter act and now he has something. You to are doing a great job uplifting people in Jamaica. I am in the VI

Way to go young man building from the ground up. I love to see this little by little everything will come together.

You cannot put a price on ambition! Well done Ed.
I am from near Planters Hall, St. Catherine and I feel so proud of this family! Blessings!

Such a huge coincidence! Wow good luck on your new home town and plans. You will succeed!
Beautiful house 🏠 Hope we get a follow up with this couple 💑 ❤️
Wow! He is very impressive! Ingenuity to the max! Building his dream home... he is an inspiration Big up bro respect
There is a young man with a vision, he earns a reasonable salary and he is putting it to good use. Very few young man like him build a house for themselves across the world. He done it all by himself. No inheritance money but out of his own sweat. Well done young man. Jamaica is developing very well. Good houses

I love this, I appreciate that the Delpratts highlighted this guy, even tho there's lots of people who do this around, they're not highlighted and as a result looked down upon because this is hardwork patience dedication and a finally the vindication of all those inputs. Mrs delpratt this is more than a inspiration....and I want to tell you and your husband thank you so much for these types of videos. I'm a young adult just like Mr Ed who have dreams and aspirations to live in a kingdom with my queen by my side ❤️
You have to do a follow up when it's finished. It would be nice if he had a balcony and a front porch.
It should be an easy addition by removing the stairs at the entry. But then based on the snippet of the 3D plan and Ed's time frame for completion he will be expanding - carport, second story. Excited for him!
Yes a really nice view lord i just wanna live a simple life in the countryside
