    This is brilliant and the only way to compete with JPS. There has to be a clause in the contract that the government signed with JPS, stating that no other electrical company can operate on the island. Every hill, valley, street, lane and corner in Jamaica should have solar power. The sunshine is free and abundant. Thanks for showing that this is something that the everyday person can do. For those who really can't, I think will pay you. I would suggest that, if you haven't done so as yet, get whatever license you need, open a business to provide installation services and also teach others how to do their own installation.
    Delprat family, you give hope to Jamaicans to say, "yes we can". Thank you.

      I think these govt don't like the ppl how a monopoly you give them such contracts for so long......then legislation don't allow the average person to benefit. Just like in Barbados cap the kWh at 5.

      Great ideas for sure💯Jps has a monopoly on the provision of electricity.
      This man has shown how it is possible to go off grid. If enough of us seek to achieve this example Jps will have no alternative other than to put customers first by capping the kWh. Right now it seems like their main priority is enriching their greedy stakeholders, who are mainly non Jamaican!!!i

    The cost of living is very high everywhere, so for those people who are leaving Jamaica because of the increasing cost of living, they will be in for a big surprise. And by the way, stop the negative sentiments about Jamaica on social media. Jamaica is no different from most other places so no need to be constantly bashing your homeland. Jamaicans are the only content creators that I see that constantly air negative sentiments about their country. Others, no matter how bad their countries are you would never hear them say it on social media, instead, they proudly extoll the best features of their countries for the world to see. Now that said, this young man is amazing. He is a genius. May he continue to exceed at everything he does. He is a great role model for Jamaican youth. Good content..

    • @ridim007
      @ridim007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tricia, I agree to disagree. We need to expose the wrongs and glorify the right. This is why the world is in shambles. If we constantly only paint a picture of perfection, then how will we get an honest evaluation? Both good and bad needs to be highlighted, but constructively. Unfortunately, our leaders seem to think that all is going well, and keep fooling the public, especially around election time. Yet the country is experiencing a major brain drain, and no positive, intelligent, solutions are being tabled. We need to wake up from our delusional state, and start rectifying problems!!
      Energy cost is THE MAJOR cancer in Jamaica. It inhibits overall productivity and cripples the society. Majority of a person's earnings are spent on supporting JPS, due to the negligence and incompetence of present and past government. Jamaica has enough natural resources available, FREE, to enable us to live 90%-100% off grid !! We are blessed with sun, wind, and water; 3 FREE energy sources. Instead of investing in the production of energy farms, we are building highways that are only taking us nowhere fast. Local roads are still crappy, and very dangerous to drive on, let alone walk on, at night, because of lack of street lights (which should be solar powered already)!!
      So, put the country on blast for the wrong. Hold the government accountable. That's why they were voted in, unless we are just lost sheep that go wherever the blind shepherd takes us. We cannot keep turning a blind eye!!
      MI DONE TALK. BLESSINGS 🙏🏾.

    I love how they call it a solar system. I get exactly what they mean but it also sounds like the bigger solar system too. haha
    Just a suggestion for the famers looking to do solar panel systems. Make a pergola to mount the solar panels on top of. They will provide some shading through the day to aid against plants and herbs getting too much exposure to the sun, plus they will be located in a great area to capture the suns rays. A pergola if you do not know it basically an outdoor shaded structure with typically planks spaced a foot to foot and a half apart. They allow the sun to pass as well as provide some shading. The spacing can be adjusted to get the correct amount of sun coverage and shading.
    Additionally one could also install some greenhouse plastics in between the openings to capture rainwater. Simply install them slanted downwards like a V from the side profile and use a PVC pipe or other to run the water captured to a rain barrel. Now you also can collect rainwater for your plants and herbs. This obviously requires more work but can also yield more prosperity in the long run. This too could be paid for, built and installed in segments, or even perhaps as a collective effort among neighbors or a block project.

    Love the video, but question, how long does the car battery last before you have to buy a new one, secondly how long do the batteries last in the solar panel set up and cost to replace both

  • @ridim007
    @ridim007 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Good video. Thanks for sharing. Was hoping to hear more about the solar system components and overall cost, but more focus was on the car.
    One thing you said was very accurate; the solar system installation companies in Jamaica are overcharging customers, which deters them from acquiring a system. That is a shame!! I have had similar experiences, and told them that if the cost of the system does not equate to a savings within a 3 year span, it doesn't make sense for me to switch. 🤷🏾‍♂️. We need to stop being greedy, and start helping each other to progress. No man is an island.

    I’m so proud of this guy. I’m also impaired by what he have accomplish with going solar and being able to save more than what he would have spend on energy. This guy is saving huge amount of cash on electricity and fuel cost

    very informative video 👍👏just missing a few details interns of a “national impact”…🤔since it’s somewhat of a new technology advantage to Jamaica’s economical crisis…glad it’s working out for him 🙏and, to be frank, the whole thing he did it's fairly easy...just having a technical mindset and TH-cam yeaaaa

    This is the best thing every Jamaican household can do if they can afford it. Besides bank also lend solar loans in Jamaica. I am fully off grid and it worth every penny after you get rid of JPS. It's best to buy the panels in Jamaica but to drive down the cost it's best to importe everything else if you can.
