    Thanks for reviewing this! It's hard to find many people on the internet giving useful information about this category of appliance.

    The suction is negative pressure. This is good.

    They need to make a frost-free version of this thing..

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would use more energy, and negate the benefits of it.😁

      Yes it eats away at the energy savings benefit but it also gives you the benefit of not having to defrost it combined with the health benefits of not having 60 Hz AC energy radiating into your home and into your food@@ADifferentWay

    will this Sunstar 12v fridge work well in an RV?

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If the RV is big enough and you have enough power it would work fine. It’s much more efficient than the AC counterpart and you can leave the inverter off which also saves power.

    Do you still have the refrigerator? And are you still happy with it after a year?

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  หลายเดือนก่อน

      We do, and yes, we are very happy with it! It has a few little quirks that you get used to, but it is extremely efficient.

      @@ADifferentWay Thank you for the reply. We have a SunStar freezer for 7 years. Its has been great. We are thinking about going from our propane frig to 24v.
      Thanks again!

    What size battery bank would you need to power it?

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That’s a question with too many variables to answer directly. If you’re considering going off-grid I would recommend doing a solar sizing calculator and use the specifications published by SunStar. I would think a system that had at least 3 kWh of storage would be needed. But that’s using lithium batteries, double it for lead acid. That’s assuming the refrigerator is the only thing on it. I’m powering entire house and my system is 7.6 kWh (LiFePo).

      This is an impossible question to answer. It really depends on how long you want to operate the fridge without something recharging your batteries. The current draw of the fridge is low enough that a typical single solar storage battery would handle the instantaneous current draw. If you wanted to operate for 7 days at 90F ambient without any recharging, you'd need 5.1 kWh of usable battery capacity.

    I am sorry if you said, but what is the cubic foot capacity of this fridge?

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Top is 4.8 cf and the bottom is 11.2 cf for a total of 16 cubic feet.

    How much noise does this fridge make?

    • @ADifferentWay
      @ADifferentWay  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Very little. The compressor will make a bit of noise when it runs, but we don’t even notice it unless the room is completely quiet. We haven’t been bothered by it at all.

      @@ADifferentWayI have a small SunDanzer chest fridge/freezer in my off grid yurt. It works really well, but does make more noise than I would like. I almost got the SunStar 10 cf upright, but couldn't do it because of the price, which was almost triple the cost of my chest fridge. I may do it at some point anyway though. I feel really confident about the SunStar company. Spent a lot of time on the phone with them learning about their products when I was trying to decide. When I got the 12v SunDanzer I was able to retire my propane refrigerator, which was totally quiet, but the cost of running it had become prohibitive because of the price of gas. Used a propane fridge in here for over 30 years.

    No Rosa. I am disappointed. However, I like the fridge. I'm coming soon. I did some testing and should be uploading soon. I might even come to see you ((next year (if the covid restriction are over) (if God permits me to live until then) (that is a Biblical thing, not a health issue) (five parentheticals in one sentence - I have never done that, especially with a hyphenated comment)).
