    The Ever Chill DC Fridge is seriously the best and more efficient fridge I have used. For 10.7 cubic feet of space, I can fit a lot of food and it uses 3x less power than my normal house fridge and 8x less power than my RV Dometic fridge.

    My 5 cubic ft freezer and my 3.1 cubic ft dorm fridge both use about 50 to 60 watts while running. I can run the freezer about 15 hours and my refrigerator about 20 off the Bluetti EB70. It at least gives me a fighting chance to save my food after hurricanes. If I get a small gas generator I can recharge the Bluetti very fast or use pass through solar charging during the day to keep it topped off. It`s hard to get gas or anything else after bad hurricanes.

      That would be heavy and expensive as they are two different systems. The RV propane/electric fridges work by a method called absorption which is much different than fridges that use a compressor system. When an absorption fridge is running off of electricity it is heating an element similar to what you would find in an electric water heater ~ it’s going to use a lot of energy. The absorption fridges have a tougher time staying cool when the ambient temperature gets warm.

I bought a lot of accessories like 12 volt cookers, cables, radios, prepping tools, lights, fans, and universal USB battery chargers. A big plus for the Everchill fridge is it's frost free. Most of the other 12vdc fridges aren't. Also comes with a 1yr wrty. Rec Pro has no discernable wrty. The Everchill also has a great price point. I would like to know if the doors are truly reversible. With the sliding travel locks on the front it's not obvious if you can reverse them. Could you reply back on this? Looking to replace a 8cuft Norcold 2-way fridge. Should be easy-squeezy. With the advances and lower costs for solar & Lithium batteries, 12vdc is the way to go. Even though I sized my PV system an AC fridge I'm considering a DC fridge so that I can shut down the inverter when I’m out of town and still have the fridge powered up. I would also still have refrigeration in the event the inverter failed.

    • @et5222
      @et5222 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @rogerthoms9542 good idea, if you really want to be "bullet proof" a dual or tri propane fridge is great. I lived off grid back in the day (when solar was $20 per Watt or more) with a second hand Servel propane fridge so I could turn off inverter when I was at work and at night. If you're only using the propane while 'gone' and door stays shut they are incredibly efficient.

    This video using the ExoFlow reminded me of a question I wanted to ask you. I have a goodly Titan system in my basement with enough solar to run most of my downstairs stuff, but getting power to the top floors is kind of a pain. I’ve been thinking about another generator like EcoFlow sized that I could easily move upstairs if needed. My issue is, I’m not sure I want to play with my solar panel setup to charge such a unit. Would you consider charging something like an EcoFlow directly from a Titan, or would that just be too inefficient to consider? Is there a way to connect such a unit to one of the many DC outs on the Titan to improve this?
    Looking forward to your long term EcoFlow review!

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No way to use a DC charger unless it's the car charger but that's very slow to charge the delta off of the titan. I personally would just buy long extension cords. If it's only being used for emergencies and backup power then the cords won't be there forever and they're easy to set up and put away especailly if you get a cheap extension cord wheel. This would save a lot of money. But if you still wanted to spend as much money as a new delta, I would still get the cords and add another battery to the Titan or add more panels or both. It doesn't make too much sense to charge another system off of the Titan and move it back and forth. Because then when the Delta has to charge, whatever is upstairs cannot be running since it's power source is being charged.

    So how many watt hours does it use when the compressor is on, and how many watt hours when the compressor is not on? I guess I'm just trying to determine what the average usage per hour it will take to run this fridge off grid on solar my Titan.

    • @minutemanprep
      @minutemanprep  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      So watts and watt-hours are two different things, that's one of the confusing things about solar and electricity. Watts, is the combination of volts and amps being used to run a device (volts x amps = watts). It uses about 60 - 90 watts when it's running the compressor. But it will not run for all 60 minutes of each hour. Watt-hours is how much power was actually consumed off of the battery per hour. It averages about 50wh per hour (50wh x 25hrs = 1,250wh which is about the capacity of the EcoFlow Delta battery). So with your Titan the battery is 2,000wh. You take 2,000wh ÷ 50wh = 40hrs of run time depending on how full it is, ambient temperature around the fridge and internal temperature setting.

      Considering the $$ cost of the Everchill, ($1200) You'd probably be able to use the savings from the price of the haier to purchase a much larger power station to handle the additional loses from the inverter , assuming you had the solar power to charge the larger station..

  • @AndrewJohnson149
    @AndrewJohnson149 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Do you think the Ever Chill is better than Unique models? I have been looking at the unique brand for a long time but really couldn't justify the cost even though I've heard they are very good customer service. I have an off-grid cabin and am working on getting solar installed but that could take another year or so before we get that installed. Some people have said to just go with a smaller 120 volt refrigerator around 10 cubic feet for a lot less money than the unique refrigerators since I would be using solar and 120 volt power to the house but again that's going to be a year or two . Now considering a DC fridge like this one and use the generator to charge a 12 volt battery when we need to.

A week or two before we send your unit out we will email you to confirm you shipping information is correct. Once you confirm the correct info we then create the label and wait for UPS or FedEx to pick it up. Once we have the tracking numbers for the label we email that out to you too so you know when to expect it. Thank you for your business and let me know if I can help in the meantime.
