I'd like to wear the art deco flapper girl style every day, because I don't see anyone doing that, and I think it's so attractive, feminine, fun, and actually comfortable without looking sloppy. The accesories also are my favorite, so modern and futuristic, thay have that sci fi vibe to them, Metropolis, Flash Gordon, those geometric flavors. Thank you for this great video.

I have also seen a few extant garments from the 20s where the tabard part of the dress was a bit shorter than the slip dress. That also makes using scarfs fro the tabard a lot easier! 😍

I do a quite a bit of refashioning for a theatre group, totally amateur, but I had never thought of that way of creating a neck opening - so simple, so clever! Thank you!

I love this! I purchased an antique 1920s tabard dress which is heavily beaded and sequined with gelatin sequins. I also purchased antique accessories and wore it to a Gatsby gala and I felt so beautiful! I need to try this, 20s fashion is elegant, and yes, I’ll forget the fringe!!

Nice dress! I have a picture of my grandmother with bobbed hair and as she said short dress. Loose fitting , cap sleeves.round neckline, hipline gathers ( not real full) , cotton print. She called it a day dress. Her short dress was about six inches above her ankle. She said she bound her breasts so she could be flat chested. (By the fifties she was wearing bras with padding) what we do for fashion. Do glad that I have the freedom to wear what I like and enjoy. Thank you so much for sharing the how tos and the facts.

My sister's homecoming is coming up, and I promised that I'd buy her the dress if she wanted to go. The theme is going to be the Roaring 20s, so she wants dress like a flapper. This video was so helpful. Thanks to you, my sister will be the belle of the ball.

you are perfectly correct:the shortest skirts got in the 1920's was just below the knee! 2 things fool people: in silent films, you see actresses wearing short dresses NO woman would have worn in real life.this is done to establish her as daring. also, so much time has passed. i read that when the fashion show in "singing in the rain" was first shown in 1953' people were rolling in the aisles because the designer made all the dresses 3" too short, as a joke. of course, as time goes on, nobody remembers any more.

At the beginning of your video you showed us a picture of Miss Fisher in a tabard dress. I love watching Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and got hooked on the twenties fashion! Especially the hats. I have six cloche hats, and love wearing them, but need some twenties clothes. Your evening dress made from scarves is lovely! However, day wear is what I need. So I'll watch more of your videos to see what to do about that. I love your videos! Thanks for making them and sharing them! ~Janet in Canada

My level = absolute beginner. But as I was going to throw away a dress because the neckline was too small, I figured I had nothing to lose. So I recut a neckline in a dress (B) that I had, based on another dress (A) neckline.
    To obtain that,
    1) I pinned the B-dress within the A-dress.
    2) hanged them on a wide hanger (so that the dresses would hang straight down)
    3) marked the new neckline on the B-dress, by following the neckline of the A-dress.
    4) released the B-dress from under the A-dress.
    5) used a finishing ribbon , that I pinned along the new neckline of the B-dress
    6) used the sewing machine to sew the ribbon in place.
The result was perfect (beginners luck ?). I was going to throw away the B-dress, but now I have been using it a lot.

Ha ha Kathleen my first video is horrible! Don't find it 😂 ! I've never made gloves, I'm in a hot part of Australia so they aren't very practical unfortunately!

Hmmmm I've got a piece of fringing just like that, and it's definitely from the 20s...

You are right, there definitely was fringing in the 20's, what I mean is just not fringing like alot of people think they did fringing in the 20s... such as those fringed flapper dresses on ebay! But I think this is something you already know as, you wear vintage! Your piece sounds lovley! ❤

I don't understand how to sew the straps, is one ribbon all the way around front and back to tighten and then four individual straps sewn over the top as shown? I did a mock up and the back is too loose and won't tighten no matter how much I adjust the straps, it looks ridiculous. Can you go into more detail please

Sadly our era is clearly going to be remembered as "The Boring 20s"

I typed out various forms of this comments but all of them were too vulgar for this channel but let's say "wow, I never thought about the fact that we are soon to be living in the 20s...again"

Yes!! There are many 1920/2020 parties happening! I've been asked so much for costume ideas!

@@Evelyn__Wood okay, I just found a blues club that has a 20s party for new year. I am not sure whether I should make something fancy like in this video or rather something that I could imagine myself wearing on a casual basis like the one in Morgan Donner's video. I think I should take a look at my scarves first before deciding 😅

😄😄😄 You can make this less fancy without beading! Sounds like fun!

I wish there were tutorials on making daywear outfits. I’ve always found evening-wear to be boring and prefer what women actually wore on normal days 😓

This is glorious, I have been researching "flappers 1920s dress to buy" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (do a google search ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my cousin got amazing results with it.
