      They are indeed crazy, but food not came to taple by itself. This isn't in India where these stuff usually comes, that one have Pakistan shirt. But one have that American shirt too. I don't know do they read or care anything. Could be just for working. Finally must say that those batteries must be extremely expensive to local people, so they recycle what they could back in use. Yes, this opens eyes and mind little bit every time.

    Wow as someone who has worked in a battery factory in the midwest US, there is very interesting to see.
    The casting of lead plates is cool to see from a mold like this. We used a continuous chilled casting drum that made basically a solid ribbon and coiled up. Then the ribbon was run through a giant punch machine that punched the little holes out of the plates but kept it as a ribbon on a spool. The spool then went to "pasting" where it would be pasted with the lead oxide, cut into the plate shape, and drying paper put on both sides all in one machine. Had probably 15 gigantic drying ovens for the plates. Drying racks would then go to "stacking" where each plate would get the separator paper and be stacked in the right amounts for that battery cell type (sold multiple sizes). The cell packs were stuffed into the battery case and pushed to the plasma welder that connected the cells. Lid was put on, filled with acid, and sat for a couple days before being ready to ship.
    Sad to see the exposure these people are getting, even seeing some kids sitting on a bed as the dude ran by with a wheelbarrow full of .... smoldering lead oxide i'd imagine. They were very strict and specific about lead exposure. 24/hr janitorial staff to clean common areas as well as monthly blood testing on site. Required to change into company clothing for your shift and must shower at the facility before going home. Can't leaving during shift even to go to your car.

      I had a friend who worked for Ford many years ago in development. He breathed enough lead fumes that when he was 70, his body, which had stored it in his bones, dumped it into his system and he had to be chelated. At the same time, he got severe dementia and was dead in a couple years. Still convinced the dementia was caused by the lead. These guys will find out, if they live to about 70, how much lead they have absorbed.

  • @MD-nk8qf
    @MD-nk8qf ปีที่แล้ว +1

    What's amazingly real about the technique is the fact that industrial scale manufacturing pollution is being produced in the same area that people live. Completely unregulated by the government. The areas where these folks are living and manufacturing are beyond slums. The waste from this battery manufacturing is going directly into the local river/steam. The fumes are being directly inhaled unrestricted/unfiltered by everyone in the immediate area.
    The only thing amazing about this technique is the level at which corporations will stoop down to procure the cheapest materials to maintain their low overhead. Guaranteed this man is one part of the process for Walmart brand car batteries. It wouldn't surprise me if he's helping to produce ACDelco or something.

If they were wearing shoes with a lot of nooks and crannies for the lead to pool in, that would be different. But like everyone else has said the dust and fumes and constant exposure are the real dangers.

    Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that paste they're making, which came from that burn stand, is either lead oxide or lead dioxide. PbO2 is used to make a paste that coats the plates as we see in that step where the one guy smears the yellow goop on the plates and the next guy presses them between a piece of newspaper. This is exactly how lead acid batteries are made even in a high tech factory but of course using better materials and everyone wearing PPE. So, if my assumption is correct then there's lead dust floating throughout that operation the entire time they're working. Every single day and every hour.
