  • Two Toyota FJ Cruisers and a VW Touareg having a fun day off-road in the sand dunes in Wilbinga, Western Australia.
    We entered the dunes via Wilbinga Road and we aired down to 15 psi.
    Wilbinga Road entrance coordinates are 31°25'54.3"S 115°39'44.2"E or check this link at goo.gl/maps/ry...
    The Toyota A-Trac system or any traction aids were enabled only between the 0:33 to 2:07 mark where we were crawling over bog holes. For the rest of the video all traction aids were disabled.
    On that day, the differential locks were not enabled at anytime on the FJ Cruisers.
    The silver FJ Cruiser had PPD Performance Stainless Cat-Back Exhaust installed.

      @@paulthomas2217 1. I indeed never owned POS. Why do I need to impersonate a guinea pig if you perfectly fit the role? Also, I spent over 15 years in the field as an Automotive Mechanical Breakdown Inspector and dealt with every single make/model sold in the US thus saw plenty of vw's in various states of [ridiculous] disrepair. These are OBJECTIVE reasons I never owned one. Subjective reason is that vw is your role model's hitler child, and I happen to be anti-nazi for a variety of reasons.
      2. I am 63, and, therefore, am hardly a "boy"
      3. I am not a Toyota fan - I have OBJECTIVE reasons to believe that Toyota makes the most reliable vehicles in the world. Out of 1,000+ vehicles I inspected every year, toyota was represented by maybe - MAYBE - one or two, and in most cases due to neglect or abuse. I will not talk about my personal experience because it's statistically insignificant.
      And finally, I had a short contract with vw a few years ago, and I witnessed first hand what kind of dysfunctional outfit it is.
      Hope it helps and you are welcome.

      Road tyres at road pressure, too. With a driver who knows what a Touareg is doing in off-road modes, they are way more capable than shown here. For a start, jerky throttle then button off then back on throttle is not the way to get the best out of it, and low range was not needed with the monstrous torque the V10 has.

    Hi guys!
    is the A track works on rear wheels as well? (i thought only front)

    • @Laval1
      @Laval1  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes A-trac works both front and rear. Also A-trac only works on 4L and at low speed - below 6kph. When both A-trac and rear diff lock are enabled, most of the time we can only notice A-trac working on the front wheels as both rear wheels will be turning at the same speed thus the sensors won't sense any loss of traction to activate A-trac at the rear.

    Did you use 4x4hi or 4x4 Lo, uphill & down hill, no locker or atrac?

    • @Laval1
      @Laval1  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When climbing steep hills up or down, I usually use 4x4 lo both on sand and hard surfaces. On sand I do not use locker or atrac unless I'm crawling over big holes. When I drive on loose flat surfaces such as on the beach, I use 4x4 hi and I always disable the traction control so that to avoid the VSC and other traction aids to kick in and cause me to lose momentum.

    The FJ is a quitntesential offroader , designed that way from the start , with enough power and performance , ze germans however , make something bloated and over luxurious , add all the tech they can find and far too much power , to make an unreliable attempt at being a Land Rover product , while pandering to Porsche's needs for a suv , that is why the fj still sells to this day and vw are on a different generation of barge with no low range and very few offroad options . Speaks volumes !
