I love that Mr. O is able to eat crow and admit when he's wrong or made a wrong guess. He's humble and that's rare to find these days. If I lived in Upstate NY, you would have earned a customer 10x over with these videos you've cranked out over the years.
Gosh I love these two!! You guys have the best relationship! And can tell you both love each other and are best friends! Guys and gals take notes this is true love, the way you both look at each other always smiling, it makes me smile!! Congrats on just being freakin awesome human beings… I wish more people in this world were like you guys!!
You're usually funny, Eric. Today you were on a tear and Mrs. O. was with you step for step. The wrenching was great, the comedy was even greater. Thanks.
"Can you tell by just looking at it, or do you have to put it it?" It was at this point where I near spit out my coffee. The look on Mrs. O's face as she realized what she said, and I can just imagine the look on your face Eric. That was freaking priceless.
We all make mistakes but you are still one of the best and you give auto techs a good name, not a bad name. But certainly didn't make a mistake when you picked Mrs. O. As I've said before, she is a keeper.

I'm guessing like you said the original switch burnout and they just got to replacement maybe from a boneyard and it just happened to have the 4 wheel low on it but it made the rest of it work kind of sort of so that's what you ended up with and you just assumed I've done the same thing myself have a great day
I could never work with my wife all day. Even if it was a 2 person operation she would file a sexual harassment charge against me after like the first hour. I would never get any work done. Maybe one day I will be able to control myself around her and we can have an operation like mr and mrs o.
The RPO codes are a useful tool to have. A few months ago I had to work on my landlady's son's 2004 Impala SS ( a real "toilet"). It was an ex undercover police car. I had to replace the power steering lines ( a royal pain in the dupa on your back). I looked up the parts on-line. There were two options: standard and police. I checked the RPO codes and it was just a standard SS and not the police package. Didn't want to assume that just because it was a municipal auction car that it had the police package. Of course, being an auction car, we have many "issues". None of the gauges work, abs lights on, and we have a bad parasitic draw. I told him he was making a mistake! LOL.
That would have screwed most guys. Imagine the can of worms if replacing the switch with the same one? Problem still there! Harness checks good. Must be the control unit! 😂 Good he caught that
Erick, I know for a fact I can't do everything you do. Your ability to find the answer to the problem and your charismatic Personity adds to the enjoyment of watching your very informative videos. In my ageing eyes you are one of the top performers in the You Tube, video auto repair. Thanks to you, your wife and the crew at the shop for these excellent videos. :)
Love your videos, Eric. I especially appreciate the interactions between you and Mrs. O. My wife and I have been married for 20 years and share a very similar relationship of playfulness, jokes, and love. I originally came here to learn how to fix the many problems of a Dodge Grand Caravan, but now watch all of your videos no matter what the make and model. Have a very Merry Christmas!
That could be a decent van, the next time the transmission fails (according to reviews it's a wear & replace item, like brake pads) just replace it + the engine with another brand.
I once spent a good half an hour trying to figure out why a running light on a newer Jeep wasn’t working. Once I looked up the service data I realized that specific light is disabled in the North American version and I was chasing a ghost the whole time.
That can also differ between a US and Canadian model ... Canada requires DRL and the US doesn't, so they just build it the same and turn it on or off in software.
I once spent over two hours on an older Subaru trying to figure out why only the front marker lights were on but the headlight switch was fully off. After tearing into the vehicle and pouring over Mitchell wiring diagrams, I found the separate "park" switch on top of the steering column (for parking at night on narrow European streets I guess) - the customer had detailed their interior the day before and bumped the switch which apparently they didn't know was there either!
Come for the great mechanic knowledge and stay for the banter between you and your wife. You had me laughing on this one. Your one reference would qualify for SMA after dark. LOL Love it. I can't have fun with my wife like you can because she was tragically born with no sense of humor.

I don't think you're a ding-dong at all. You ended up putting the proper switch in the truck and saved the next buyer the frustration and confusion of wondering why their 4-low setting doesn't work. This is actually a proper fix. Kudos to you for a thorough job!
Please, please tear open that old diff for us to see the carnage! Just spent an hour trying to separate a CV joint from the axle on a 1996 Ford Fiesta, apparently it does not hammer off but the circlip expands over the splines! We all make stupid assumptions Mr O!

Filing above eyeballs without safety glasses. Who can stop this man? Lol you should’ve topped off your anti seize with that front diff fluid. Much love Eric, keep living the dream!
I can't wait for part 3, I am not sure what the RPO and NPO stand for?
-RPO stands for *Regular Production Option* and is General Motors' standard coding for vehicle configuration options
-When you look at the RPO list in the glove box, code "NP0" translates too: TRANSFER CASE ACTIVE, *SINGLE SPEED* , SWITCH ACTIVATED, ALUMINUM
Good question BTW 👍
Same as NPR, RGB, NGO or OMG. Not quite the same as LGBQT+, though.;)
@@SouthMainAuto I have never owned a vehicle with a transfer case but it is good to know. Thanks for the info.
Chris Vargas - RPO stands for: Run Pass Option
It is football season after all.
That buggered up bolt on the Axle shaft looks like somebody whacked on it with a hammer trying to get the axle engaged into the front diff. LOL
LOL I was thinking that too.

The classic Hulk Hogan smirk while removing the diff, followed by kissing the "guns" What a riot!
Looked like someone filled that diff with anti seize!😝
Graphite
It did look like anti sieze.
Jeff Leach - LOL!! It does for sure. Well.......you don't want it to seize, right? A 'locked" diff is one thing....a "seized" one is another.
No, that was just the expensive diff fluid.

I can't thank you enough for sharing this. You became my best teacher..
God bless you and your family.
Can't wait for part 3 I enjoy your flicks, you have been a little slack putting them out lately but I still enjoy them. Keep them rolling.
Watched 12 minutes after upload but those back roads down to the comments took forever to navigate. Now I'm low on gas, feeling emotionally vulnerable, and having trust issues...thanks Mr. O
I love your interactions with your wife. Makes me laugh! And we can all use some more humor these days
Love when Mrs. O gets involved!
Eric - please keep doing what you’re doing. The Eric and Mrs. O comedy tour material is gold baby!!
Wow! You learned me up, my wife's Tahoe has low and I had never heard of "no 4-low" every 4X4 I have ever had had 4-low. Mental note.
Filing above eyeballs without safety glasses. Who can stop this man? Lol you should’ve topped off your anti seize with that front diff fluid. Much love Eric, keep living the dream!
