My speedometer started howling like crazy on the highway today. Pulled over, screwed off the wire-cable-thing, sprayed a lot of WD40 (Swedish equivalent, 5-56) on both wire and around the cable-receiver on the meter. After a few kilometers the whining subsided and after a while it was almost quiet again and seemed to work fine. More (proper) greasing followed in the garage afterwards and now it seems to be working with no problem. Knock wood. Needle was jumping like crazy first. From 50 Km/h to 155 Km/h in 1 second... (that'll be the day)... ;) Either way, thanks for a good vid.
hey mike i watch your video all the time i have a 1969 bettle convertible where my directional signal light dont work on the speedo can you kindly give me a idea why they dont work
Hi Mike, thx for the vid. I wanna keep the original speedo in my 5/58 bus, but the face is on the rusty side and the clear needle's broke, along with the round glass. Anybody supply these parts to us DIY'ers you know of? Thanks!✌️🙂✌️
hey.. have you taken a speedo apart with a trip odometer push rod going thru the front plastic cover? I want to know how to get the trip odometer out so I can work on the plastic cover, dial and needle. 71 fasty I have. thx
my 1965 stock beetle's speedo stopped working over a month ago. No speedometer or odometer. The think isn't spinning. That end part where the cable screws into. It doesn't spin :'(

where can I get speedo parts ?
Do you spray that right into where the speedo cable goes, or do you try to get in between the inner and outer part?
you cant really get into that area without taking that part apart. I have other videos doing that part.

grease got frozen up gotta take that one apart to re grease it
