Excellent, a very simple-simon project which I will do tomorrow thanks to your video and time; I was somewhere in Georgia heading towards WPB and doing at least 75 in my Karmann Ghia when suddenly I was doing "0" MPH, I found out the plastic nut on the wire that screws onto the speedometer broke, but now I have a whole new wire with the rubber grommet to replace the old one; I'll comments on the finished job, again thanks for your very useful video.
Miguel Cardona glad it helped! Thanks for the comment.
Going out in the garage now to fix it! I've been putting it off but almost have everything else fixed on this old 68 bug I've had for three years now. This looks easy peasy. I'm getting ready to change the swing axle boots using a floor jack, jack stands, and a spring plate torsion bar tool. Never have before. Hairy scary. I don't want to get squashed like a bug by a bug. All the other vidz are either on a lift or with the engine out. I heard jack one side, set a jack stand, then jack the hub level and go under the car to replace the boot. No way. That's probably why there are no videos showing it either. Getting in there will be tough but I have to do it. If I had a camera I'd make a video. Excellent video on the speedometer. Just what I needed to start my morning (retired 65 yr old wrench turner).
The clip!! Nothing else ive read mentioned the clip at the end. I thought mine was worn away and ruined. Turns out I've just lost my clip. Thanks! You maybe have saved me $30
Thanks for the video. Changing the spindles on my 73 bus and wanted to figure out how this cable worked first. Totally obvious as soon as you broke out the drill. Thanks for the ahaha moment.
Just what I needed today thanks
Thank you for this video! I’m hoping to do this myself next weekend
Lovely... Lovely... I love working on my bug
Thank you buddy, I have to do the same on my 59 beetle.
How awesome was that!!
perfect! Well done!
Good video.
Worth the watch for sure.
Thanks!
great simple thanks
Very useful
hello, i'm installing a new cable and i understand that it needs to be lubricated first. I can't seem to pull the cable out of the sheathing for fear of damaging it. Any tips you could give me? thanks
I didn’t pre lube mine? So if you can’t pull it out I think your good?
What length cable do I use to replace
jerry wolf I just bought the cable. It is cut to fit your year perfectly. www.jbugs.com/product/111957801K.html
My odometer goes up more miles than I actually have driven it,what do I do?
Is your mph correct?
@@ChrisNCars I’d say it’s about 5mph +- within accuracy but odometer is way off
@@Willyamsii there’s this little plastic gear in there my guess is it’s way off or wrongly geared.
@@ChrisNCars do I have to take the speedo apart?
@@Willyamsii www.odometergears.com/products/Volkswagen/Mechanical+Speedometer/19 yeah I’d say so
Good job not showing how to take the cable end out of the wheel.
