- Come along as we tour the former historic mining community of Molson and Old Molson ghost town museum located in the Okanogan Highlands of Washington State. This community embodies the feel of a ghost town of the wild west of Washington States early mining days.
Molson was founded in 1900 by promoter George B. Meacham, and investor John W. Molson, a member of the Molson family, and officer of the Molson Bank.
The Molson post office was established July 14, 1900, with Walter F. Schuyler as first postmaster. That year, the population peaked at about 300. Erected were three general stores, a drugstore, three saloons, dance hall, livery, blacksmith, assay office, and hotel. A newspaper, attorney, and doctor, served the community. Having invested $170,000, the Molson company withdrew backing. In June 1901, only 12 residents remained. The Hotel Tonasket, named after Chief Tonasket of the Okanogan people, comprised three stories and 34 rooms, burned to the ground in 1924. Limited mining continued intermittently in the area until 1938.

Thanks!!!
My wife and I try to go to Molson every year. When we have our yearly family trip near Oroville
Great place for sure thanks for your comment.
This town looks like a dead and boring place to live? But I am sure back in it's days it wasn't like that? I have been there before and it is a cool place to visit. Thanks for sharing this with us
Thank you!
I like how they letting the buildings fall apart
The buildings are maintained and kept structurally sound.
I can't understand why you don't share us the grave headstones of the people who lived there? That's the best part of going through the cemetery?
We thought about that after the fact We appreciate your interest and pointing that out.
Your intro is inside out -- look at printing behind him!
Well, at least you were paying attention.🤣
Ever been to Trinity?
Very familiar with Trinity, but we have not been.
Where would they have slept in Mr fontain's cabin?
The buildings were moved to this location to preserve them. So this is not a representation of every structure originally at Old Molson. There would have been several residences and a hotel, saloons, a community hall etc. in 1906.
