How the hell does the boat on Starbord get a penalty against them when the boat comes in on Port, gybes on top of them and doesn’t keep clear? These umpires have no idea what the fuck they are doing. That’s the most ridiculous call I’ve ever seen in sailing.
First you put up a spoiler video showing the scoreboard instead of the racing. Then you've mislabelled these races such that the commentary for race 2 (labelled race 1) provides more even more spoilers. :(
low winds bring out the best in the sailors. Less impressive to witness but it's really there that we see who has the best sailing fundamentals. See when the Italians used their foot to adjust their jib? it's a prime example.
Well sailed France but what was the penalty against Italy on the last leg for? They were the starboard boat when approaching France (who was on port tack), then became the leeward boat when France gybed. Surely France was the boat at risk of a penalty in that situation, although to my eyes it looked okay.
My impression of the start was that they never crossed back over the line into the start box so that was the penalty. Kind of late to let them know though.
Please don't give away the race results away in the description!
This is race 1, not 2. Seems like something not going well on TH-cam production. Also videos appears and disappears suddenly
Congratulations, America's Cup: your high-quality 60fps full HD professional coverage makes SailGP coverage look like amateur hour!

Should of been held in New Zealand...
anywhere with some wind would be nice
No matter how you get the win is something a Brit will say when it was a French win. Superb sailing if it was a Britisch win.

Not the racing fans were waiting for. Though they have little control over wind. Seems 6.5 knts is to low for good racing.

Does anyone know the details of the Italian protest regarding the start? From the video, it seems clear that she did not clear the line.
Yeah it looks like Jimmy forgot he hadn't started, so he got a penalty for interfering in race that he wasn't actually in!
It looks more and more like speedway not sailing.
