My mother tongue is German, and I studied in Scotland for a month many years ago. I don't know if that's the reason but I LOVE Glaswegian (and Scottish in general). It's my favourite English accent ever 🤩It's so unique. I recently picked an audiobook written by a Scottish author and narrated by another Scottish person. I almost freaked out with joy ;) But in terms of simplicity, from the perspective of a non-native speaker, I would definitely say American English is the best. I generally have no trouble at all understanding American Speakers but listening to speakers with other accents immediately needs much more attention on my part. Oh yeah, and French people just sound cute whatever they speak IMO. Bit of an unfair advantage 😉 I actually really do like accents. I understand the wish to speak proficiently and be really good with grammar and pronunciation and all of that, and I aim for the same goal when it comes to my language learning but I do love accents, to be honest. Some of the people who influenced me the most in my life, like mentors, etc., were non-native German speakers. They mastered the language on every single level (with no errors whatsoever) but you could still hear the accent and know where they were from. I know it bothered some of them, but I find it quite charming.

That’s a southern accent. There’s also NY/NJ accents, New England/Boston. The Midwest has accents as well, specifically in Minnesota.
