Dynamic Tilting System - Rc Snowmobile Building Challenge 2024

  • This is an idea I've never seen before, a track system split down the middle, with two individual suspensions, actuated by two servos. That's cool!
It ended up being harder than it looks to pull that together. I was a bit surprised by how unfazed the suspension acted in the snow. We barely noticed any difference. I even had ideas about different track profiles on the machine that would make the back more responsive, but with the lack of positive movement, i dont think this concept is the solution.
Plan B (the flywheel) would have been a cool idea as well, but it seems like i ran out of time... Again lol. I'll visit this concept in February if i can however.
If you think i missed an obvious detail, that would have changed how the sled works, please let me know! I am still open for ideas, since this is an interesting concept and if i get good suggestions, I'm likely going to revisit this.
Thanks for your support, and thanks for riding with me!

Incredible build. It sure looks cool bashing in the snow. Lots of talent and skill my friend.

You are on to something!!! I'm an avid snowmobiler and I can vision something like this working well . Keep at it great video

A gyro with a 3rd servo that has a weight on it to "shift" the weight?!? You could use a traxxas reciver as it has 2 channel 1 inputs so you could control the servo and weight while steering, that way the weight shifts into the turn to help it carve,
Could also maybe use a drift or drag gyro for it,
absolutely insane track design and great video as always😮🤘🤘

you should try controlling the steering servo with the track servos on one channel, maybe add tilting to the front a arms too somehow, cant wait to c what you come up with

I’m sure you’ll end up finding out that having a spinning flywheel that shifts side to side, or even just a plain weight that shifts side to side will be the answer because thats how they have been written in real life for the last 50 years.
there is one idea that I have always wondered if it would be possible and that would be a pivoting/tilting track. For example, normally when you take a sharp left-hand corner, the snowmobile wants to roll on the right side of the track. I wonder if a system could be made so that the track would stay flat relative to the ground. This would also work when riding sidehill. The track could be tilted to match the incline of the mountain. I have no idea if this would be a positive change or if it would make handling worse but it’s something I’ve wondered.
There is one idea that I’ve always had

this is a cool idea!! you might be able to run the track like a skid steer, have 2 motors and stop one side of the track while the other side keeps going. I like plan B lol, just like mine 😉

I would try just one track but still use the servos like a rider but put little weight on the servo to act like a rider
    Great concept

When we ride real snowmobiles, we shift weight and load and unload shocks.
You need to try to make your front upper shock mounts on a pivot point and use a servo to control it. So that one shock gets longer, and one gets shorter. So the sled will tip.
I have a type set up on one of mine but had zero snow this year to test it. I think it will work to get the sled on edge and start the carve. So they don't drive like a car and more like a snowmobile!

Pascal, great concept! Have you tried this with solid rods. Wondering if the shocks are absorbing all the pressure. If this makes a difference, use thicker shock oil. You need to mix in the radio to go left the mix will implement the right track. Just a concept. Fantastic video.

That will be very helpful. Meaning changing the lean will work fine I think. But my feeling is that it would be more effective to make the whole body lean left and right by pushing the left or right ski suspension down. 2 years back I made the skeeride. I like it but it goes over on it's side too soon. The c.o.g. on this model is pretty high up compared to the newer model. This newer model looks better and performs better. But also and making it lean( like someone did) made a big difference.

try stiffer springs and thicker shock oil on your (lifting) shocks

Et si tu esseyais de jouer avec ta suspenssion des ski avant a la place d'en arriere ? Tu pour mettre tes deux servos direction sur tes shock de tes tables et tu garderais une chenille complète en arriere ?

Wonder how it would work in softer snow trying to side hill or carve cuz you turn into the hill say leftpush down the right side need softer snow to really see decuz why else do you want the weight transfer to change. Just need to get some better snow and something to sidehill on

Maybe trie it the other way? Instead of pushing down the track, maybe lift up instead?.

      @Pascal_Robert--Rc_Creations  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

It's kind of doing that on the other side. While one side push, the other side pulls. You can see the track getting off the ground.
